energy surge...!?
i have been working out religiously for about a month and a half now. i have a schedule of classes that i love, and i throw in some weight lifting through the week and hiking on the weekends, and it's been working really well for me. but the last couple of days i have noticed that i have a lot more energy after my workouts…

Eclectic 5-Day Mix Up Club! All Welcome!
This is a posting board for anyone wanting to share their workout routines and have a group of people to hold them accountable! It doesn't matter what program you are doing, as long as you strive to work out five days a week! I hope to see people marking their progress and sharing new ideas and tips! Personally, my goal is…

calculating microwave popcorn!?
i am about to eat an entire bag of orville redenbacher movie theater butter popcorn all by my lonesome. i will not be sharing with my dear husband - he may get his own bag. when i looked up this in the food database, i saw that a bag was over 400 calories, which really suprised me. so i got my box and took a look…

Dear Scale,
i realize that this must be hard for you to go through...i know that you are firmly entrenched in your ways, which is to pop up a number starting with a '2' and ending with an upper teen. however, you are going to have to get used to the fact that things are changing. and although you moved up about half a pound this week,…

eclectic workout club!?
i'm looking for people who are doing a mix of things for their workouts! i am not sticking to a particular program - i just do whatever i want when i feel like it, but my goal is to do *something* five days a week! right now, i am all about classes at the gym (turbo kick, pilates, bosu, and step), but i also work on p90x,…

my neck/back is soooo stiff!
i have been sick since saturday, so i haven't been to the gym since friday. is it possible that my upper body has gotten this sore from not working out in 4 days? it's horrible! i'm back on schedule as of today, so i'm hoping my class will work out the kinks. i'm going to make sure that if i am not going to the gym for a…

i'm sick...
felt like i was off to a fabulous start, but now i'm sick. :( hope to be back at it tomorrow, but it might not be until wednesday...i'm so upset! and we were supposed to go hiking yesterday, too, but that fell through as well. send me good vibes that i won't fall off my bandwagon just because i was sick - it's not like i…

i just found out...
what i would do if an intruder entered my house! i would scream 'WHOOOO IS IT!?' grab a broom in my left hand, grab a sharp knife out of the sink in my right, and stand there like a charlie's angel. luckily for me (or maybe luckily for him), it was a plumber for next door. he found my front door unlocked (yikes) and walked…

starting to feel good!
i've passed through my first week of my workout schedule, and i am *finally* starting to feel good! the excercise felt good while it was going on, but as the day went through my energy level was zonked - and, of course, i was mad sore from just starting out. but i woke up this morning with no soreness in my muscles, and i…

gym rats club?
is anyone interested in starting up a group for gym rats? i currently go to six classes per week: turbokick, step-jump-pump, bosu boot camp, pilates, metabolic training and step and sculpt. i have just completed my first week of this, so it's a new thing, but i love it! i am wondering if anyone else out there primarily…

failure food kind of day...
i posted earlier about how i ate cheese nips, ice cream and dr. pepper for lunch. well, dinner didn't improve. i ended up at moe's eating a homewrecker burrito, queso dip and more soda...then topped it all off with more ice cream! now, i'll be the first to admit that i am a total junk-food-a-holic, but my dinner tonight…

bleh, bleh, bleh...
yep. so, i ate cheese nips and ice cream for lunch. and a can of dr. pepper. didn't see that coming! i will go to the gym and work out like a fiend, no problem. but i have a problem with letting go of my junk food. i don't know if i will ever get to where i don't want it. at least i didn't eat the entire box, and i…

first hike ever!
went today with my husband on a 2 mile hike! it wasn't super-strenuous, but it did have a lot of climb to it. it was a 1.3 mile trail up hanging rock, and i was so excited to make it all the way up and back again with being *completely* give out. it took us about 2 hours, which is what the recommended time was, so i'm glad…

i love it when...
i see people outside jogging and being active, and i don't feel completely guilty and miserable because i already put in my time at the gym! if i have not been working out, any time i notice someone who has been, i just feel awful about myself. as soon as i get myself into gear, i see all those people and feel completely…

well, i totally suck at yoga...
just got back from a class. first time i have ever been, and man, was i terrible! i'm not strong enough to keep many of the positions involving your arms...mainly the sideplank - that one was just impossible for me! even resting on my elbow and arm! the warrior positions are alright...i know a lot of the moves from power…

Trainer Compliments!
i had my wellness checkup today at my gym, and the trainer said she was 'shocked' to see how much i could lift on the leg press (115 pounds). she had me start out at 65 pounds, and i nearly broke the plate right off! once she saw that that is where i really was, she explained that she expected me to have really…

BOSU! Whew!
just came back from the BOSU bootcamp class. it rocked. it is basically a step class, but it is done on that thingie that looks like half a resistance ball on a plastic platform. i was thinking it would be about the same as a step class, but it was *way* harder. every time you stand on that thing, every tiny muscle from…

Anyone done BOSU Bootcamp?
I have a vague idea of what it might be...I'm off to give this class a whirl this morning. I'm not sure if it will be more a strength training type thing or if there will be adequate cardio as well. Anyone ever done this? Like it? Love it? Happy Hump Day, everyone!

what do you do if...
you don't really like vegetables? i know i need to eat more of them, but i really don't dig them. and i'm really weird with textures. for example...i love how cooked onions smell and taste, but i don't like how they chew. i don't mind tomato type sauces as long as there are *NO* chunks. stuff like that. i generally do…

Back on Board...
Well, you'd think the summer would be the ideal time to get your butt into gear, but I did just the opposite and haven't done anything productive in the weight-loss department since June! My summer hours played a big part in that, but it's still no excuse to not do *anything* for over two months! But...that's neither here…

Outdoors vs Treadmill
hello, everyone! i've been working on c25k since early april, and i have been stuck on W4 for about 5 weeks now. between my lack of progress and the *heat* we've had, i decided yesterday to move it in to a treadmill at the gym. i realize that the treadmill is not as challenging as outdoor running, but i have to admit that…

couch to 5k or cardio?
i'm currently at W4 of the C25K program, and up until now i have been able to do intense cardio workouts on my days off. at this point, if i do any cardio (p90x, turbo kick, zumba) on my days off, i'm floored for the C25K. this is a recent development - it used to work out fine, but since i have been on W4, my C25K is…

mental fatigue?
hiya! i'm in the middle of doing couch to 5k (week 4) and i've noticed that during the routine i feel really tired and strained, like i can't go any further. when i try to concentrate on this feeling, i realize that i'm actually in pretty good shape - my legs feel strong, and i'm not totally panting and out of breath.…

finally!
i have been hovering around 209.5 for *weeks* and i finally broke through to 208.8! i hope this will be a weekly kind of thing instead of having to wait another 2 months to get to 207! but i'm excited anyhoo!

tommy hilfiger size 14!
found the coolest pants at goodwill - jeans with a pale brown and blue paisley design with a substantial flair at the bottom. very hippy chic. i thought i would pick them up and hope to be able to fit in them come fall - i wasn't expecting to be able to get them over my bum at all. when i came home and tried them on, i…

joining a gym today!
*so* excited! i've gone to gyms in the past and recently have not because i've been doing a lot of dvd's at home and working on c25k. but i realized that i *really* miss being able to go to classes, and this gym offers about 60 a week! i'm so excited about having a big variety of classes to do and doing to work with a…

kind of bummed out...
:grumble: i'm not sure why. i'm not totally off the wagon by any means. i'm still exercising well and eating mostly well. i just don't feel like my heart is into to all this right now and i can't put my finger on why. i'm still doing my stuff, but i feel like i'm kind of just going through the motions. anyone else out…

sweat dripping down my back!
that totally rocks, because usually when i sweat, it puddles right into my t-shirt because it is so snug. but today when i was doing my c25k, i kept wondering what in the world that tickly feeling was that kept running down my back. it was sweat! that's all, but it was so cool! i haven't lost any weight in weeks, but i…

Old School vs. Techie?
I have seen a lot of people using heart rate monitors and other gadgety kinds of things on here. They all sound pretty cool, and I'm debating on whether to invest. I am pretty old school with my workouts - I time myself with a stopwatch, measure distance with the telephone poles in my neighborhood, etc. I don't have my…
