Up 40 lbs but I’m on track now!

I know all the info and i love healthy food so all I need now is commitment! I will be counting calories, tracking food and weighing myself daily…

Has anyone been to Turkey?
I am going to Turkey this summer for the first time. Has anyone been? Things I should definately do? I am VERY excited about the food, but I figure I will be walking so much I shouldn't gain weight.

Motivation for running needed!
I have been doing Group Power at the YMCA for the last two months and have noticed big changes in my body. I have also lost nearly 10 pounds, going from BMI of overweight to healthy weight range. I have a short term goal weight of 5 pounds more loss, and want to start running again. 2 years ago this time I was regularly…

Breakfast advice
I LOVE coffee or tea in the morning, and dunking toast with peanut butter into my hot drink.Really, it is a big pleasure in my day. But, less than 2 hours later I am starving! I am looking for a higher protein breakfast, but I really do not want a protein smoothy or eggs in the morning. Other ideas for higher protein…

How do you eat healthy when you go out?
It is easy for me to eat healthy at home and during my regular work week. I rarely eat out, because I'm on a tight budget, and I don't like fast food. But when I go to someone's house for dinner, or to a potluck, I really can't turn down delicious homemade food. Not even the desserts. It is very very very hard for me to…

scale reads different on carpet or tile?
I have been weighing myself in the bedroom, which is a non-fluffy wall to wall carpet. But I put it on the linoleum bathroom floor and it read a few pound lighter. Is this a thing? It's not a digital scale.

A long winter, and I'm back!
I was very active on this site last summer. Well, since then, I've fallen in love, got my dream job, went on holiday to Brazil but also.... stopped watching what I eat, stopped running, and the weight has crept back on. Probably close to ten pounds. So, I am back, to keep on track, get back into good habits, and look great…

Why/how did you become overweight?
For those of you who want to share, I am interested to hear your stories about why/how you became overweight. Were you always overweight? Or were you once a healthy weight? Did you "let yourself go"? Or perhaps it was due to a traumatic event, injury or medication? And did anyone become overweight while still being an…

The hidden truths behind a transformation pic!
This is a good post about transformation pics. It's not meant to disparage MFP pics, as pretty much all of them on here are very simple selfies. But, this post may open your mind about other before and after shots you have seen in magazines and elsewhere online.…

Protein powder twice in one day???
I want to increase my protein intake, but it is hard for me cause I don't like meat and eat very little of it. Is having protein powder twice in one day overkill? I would have it as a morning and afternoon snack, in a shake.

advice from runners on running in the heat
I started running last fall. Since Christmas I have regularly been running 10 km. I have been on holiday for two weeks with no running. Today I went out- it is now very hot and humid. It was really difficult- I had to stop and walk twice. I did 7.8 km and that was a challenge. I wore one of those belts with little water…

Anyone here from a non-English speaking country?
Just curious as I see lots of Brits, Canadians and the odd Australian, Kiwi or Irish person. If you are from another country where are you from? Does a similar website exist in your language? Why did you choose MFP?

how long have you been trying to lose weight?
I just came across a diary of mine from when I was 16. This was my first time losing weight, and I went from 70 kg to 63 kg. I am 5'3" so it was a big change. I was obsessing on how to get to 60 kg, with an ultimate goal of 55kg. Well, 16 years later I now maintain a weight of just under 60 kg! However, for most of those…

does it take alot for you to feel full?
I read posts here on MFP of people (ok, usually women) saying they have a hard time meeting their calories, or that they can barely make it to 1200 calories. I do NOT understand this!!! Just eat bread and butter yo, it is delicious and very high calorie!!! I am generally still hungry at close to 2000 calories a day, and I…

Just ran my first race!!!
I started a C25K program on my own at the end of September 2012. Today I just did my first race, a 10km. My time was 1 hour 6 minutes. I think I am going to sign up for a half marathon for October. So proud! Did I mention that 2 years ago this time I was doing chemotherapy. Hells ya I got my health back!

Thoughts on high calorie but healthy foods?
I eat healthy but looking at my food diary I see that some of my food is high calorie. For example, my snack of Balkan yogurt, hemp hearts, flax seed and dash of maple syrup is over 250 cals! For that I could have an ice cream bar!!!

just bought my first tub of protein powder!
Bought a big tub of Vega Protein Powder. I like the company and that all the ingredients are natural. I am vegetarian and using MFP I can see that it is hard for me to meet even 55g of protein per day. I am also ALWAYS hungry, even at 1800 calories, which is about what I have been averaging lately, with eating healthy…

motivate me!!!!
I have gone up 3 pounds in the last few weeks. I am 32 years old, female, 131 pounds, was at 128 for most of the year until recently. I am 5 foot 3.5 I need discipline in logging what I eat- I don't enjoy doing it but it is helpful for weightloss. I am running 8-10 km 3 times a week. I don't eat meat but I do eat fish. My…

Is anyone's partner not on board with your weightloss?
I'm actually single but I was curious about some aspects of weight loss for couples. Is anyone in a relationship where you both are overweight but you are the only one seriously making changes in your life to lose weight? How has this affected your relationship? Do you just have to accept that you can't make someone change…

favourite protein powder?
I am thinking of trying protein powder to add to shakes/smoothies. I eat very clean so I would want something that is as natural as possible without additives/crap/fake stuff/chemicals. I tried hemp powder but it tasted so gross and the taste couldn't be masked. Any recommendations? Also, I am in Canada so may not have all…

at my lowest weight in 18 years!
I weighed myself this morning and I was 125 lbs. I am 5'3" and 32 years old (female). The last time I saw that number was when I started grade 9 - I was 14 years old. By the end of 1995 I was already 130. It is still hard for me to accept these low (for me) numbers. But, I am happy with them!

question for British people
dear British people, In British cook books, and even here on MFP, when you talk about food you use grams. So does everyone have a kitchen scale, or do you just know off the top of your head how many grams are in standard measures like one cup of flour?
