Quilting pics and inspiration
Hey all, is it ok to post links to our quilt pics and inspiration pics? I've just recently started using Flickr more, but here are some of the quilted things I have on there~ http://www.flickr.com/photos/16977033@N06/collections/72157631332598292/ And this is my Pinterest board for quilts I want to make/admire. If you have…

Works in Progress?
What is everyone working on? I'm kinda taking a break since I just finished two baby quilts for my cousin's new baby, but I do have a paper-pieced Matryoshka wall hanging I am working on, and the next project will be a cowboy quilt for a friend who is in love with the rodeo and all things cowboy!

Delicious Mushrooms Soup
I love making soups that are pretty much just seasoned pureed vegetables, finished with a bit of butter and cream. A stick blender is my favorite tool in the kitchen! Mushroom Soup 2 1/2 cups assorted mushrooms mushrooms 1 oz dried shiitake mushrooms 4 T butter, divided 1 thick slice onion, chopped 1 clove garlic, diced…

Keto Flu: The Return
Oh dear goodness, I went on a carb binge last week and got back into low carb a few days ago. I am now suffering through a worse version of the keto flu than I did the first time. Seriously, feel so bad, slept for 14 hours last night, woke up tired, and have been having trouble thinking all day. Not awesome since I am on…

PMS related flare-ups?
Has anyone noticed an increase in flare-ups the week before their periods? I haven't exactly been tracking it, but it seems like I am having flares only during this time. Plus, I am super super tired during PMS, and not getting enough sleep always makes me flare. Any other reasons why this might happen?

Anyone else going to QuiltCon?
Who's going to QuiltCon? I went back and forth and couldn't decide but I ended up deciding I could afford it after all. I ended up with a very full schedule of workshops! Still working on housing and stuff, but I am stoked! Also, am excited that I will be smaller when I fly in February compared to last March when I went to…

Cauliflower Pizza Bites--Amazing!
So I've had this one pinned for awhile and finally made it today. So good! I made half a batch because I underestimated how much the cauli would shrink up when it cooked. http://joandsue.blogspot.ca/2012/05/cauliflower-pizza-bites.html My changes~For a half batch I used just over 1 cup cooked, riced cauli, 1/2 cup cottage…

Are you losing or maintaining?
I'm just curious who is losing weight and who is maintaining. If you're losing, how much do you tend to lose a week? If you're maintaining, how long have you maintained for? Did your eating change very much when you reached your goal weight?

Is it "normal" to feel drunk/woozy/dizzy on low carb?
I can't remember feeling like this other times I've gone low carb, but this week, especially in the evening I have the strangest woozy feeling. Does this have anything to do with low carbing? It's really bad tonight, I'm not particularly tired but I think I am going to go lay down because it's such an unsettling feeling.

How do you guys eat "bacon and eggs?"
Around high school I started eating scrambled eggs, before that I wouldn't eat eggs at all. I only started eating fried (over easy or over medium) eggs a few years ago, and always eat them on toast or an english muffin or on top of hashbrowns. So my question is how do you eat your eggs? I do like over medium eggs but can't…

Farm Shares/CSA/Gardening~Produce!
Is anyone else getting a farm share/CSA or delivered produce? Or maybe you're lucky enough to have your own Veggie Garden? I just got my first farm share of the year yesterday and am excited to use it! This is what I got: This Week’s Share: Long-Standing Bloomsdale Spinach (1/2 lb) Red Fire Lettuce (1 head) Red Russian…

What are your fave low-carb treat/splurges?
What do you like to spend a few extra carbs on daily/occasionally? I'm treating myself to a glass of dry red wine tonight. Boy, after being off of sugar for a bit, it's amazing how sweet even dry wine us (I'm usually a sweet, dessert wine, late harvest Gerwursterminer type girl). I'm also enjoying a MIM every day or so.…

What's your favorite current meal/menu?
What's everybody eating these days? I made something yummy the other day and am making it again today, keep thinking about it! I made a sugar free marinade for my beef jerky (pretty basic, equal parts Worcestershire and Soy Sauce, a little Splenda, fresh ground coarse black pepper, granulated garlic, granulated onion,…

Bicycle Questions/Recommendations
I haven't been on a bike in years but would really like to get a new one. As I start my research into buying one, I'm wondering if I'm going to be too heavy? I'm currently around 275 and was originally planning on losing another bit of weight before getting one, but obviously riding would help me lose weight, and it's…

Chicken Potato Soup
This is kinda stupid easy to make, but turned out really tasty! The "secret" is to use fresh homemade stock or broth. I don't really like chunky vegetables (especially potatoes or tomatoes) in soup, but creamy soups are usually full of cream = high calories. Pureeing the vegetables in broth or tomato based soups makes it…

Soupin' Up Canned Soup
Tonight I found a can of Progresso Chicken and Dumpling Soup in my cupboard (not that amazing, since a few weeks I ago I purchased and placed said can in my cupboard). I like the idea of canned soup better than the soup itself though, so decided to try to make it a bit tastier. We had a bit of chicken gravy left over from…

Just Dance 2 versus Just Dance 3
HI all! I've heard from people that have Just Dance 3 that it's pretty good (in terms of song list) but am wondering if their are any other "upgrades" from Just Dance 2. For instance, is there a way to queue up a bunch of songs that you want to do and then it just does them all? Or for anyone that has both of them, can you…

Healthy ideas for potluck?
My mom and I are in charge of food for my nephew's bday party this weekend and I can't think of healthy stuff to take that is easy to make and transport. We'll have picnic tables and coolers so nothing too fancy/hard to serve. So far our idea is broiled chicken legs, and mom was thinking about picking up potato and…

Gluten-free recipes and suggestions
I'm just starting to go gluten-free and am feeling a bit lost. I'm hoping some people with celiac or gluten intolerance might want to share some recipes/tips with me. Right now I'm sticking to protein, rice, fruits and veggies, but I'm pretty sure I'll want some more variety pretty soon. I did find an amazing gluten free…

Tell me 3 things to keep you on track...
I think I do best when I have a few mini goals to work on during the day to help me achieve my goals. Let me know what kinds of things you are working on to help yourself do this! The more concrete the better, i.e. instead of "Stay under calories for the day", something specific that will help you do that, like "Eat lean…

Beauty Detox Solution
Has anyone tried the Beauty Detox Solution and/or read the book? It's pretty extreme but I've had so many digestive problems this year that I am going to give it a go. The main things I took away from her plan that I'm going to implement are: Making each meal based on veggies, and starting each meal with raw vegetables or…

What are your go-to salad toppings?
Just wondering what you tend to put on your everyday salads. The most common ingredients if you were whipping up a quick side salad or something. Mine tend to be whatever veggies I can scrounge (most common being some combination of green pepper, green onion, cucumbers, and tomatoes) on top of my lettuce (usually just…

Tasty Brown Rice
I recently tried some short grain brown rice and it's sooo much better to me than long grain! If you haven't tried and don't really love long grain brown rice, give it a go! I cooked 2 cups of it in my rice cooker but to change it up I added a couple sliced green onions, 2 teaspoons of Chicken Better Than Bouillon, and 2…

Where to buy peanut flour?
Does anyone know of a store I can buy peanut flour in? Since Trader Joe's discontinued theirs I'm pretty bummed. I still have a little bit left but would like to figure out where to get some more. I heard I can buy it online from someplace, but I would really prefer to buy it locally and not have to pay for shipping.…

Gluten Free Chicken and Spinach Casserole
I made this tonight and it was yummy! I adapted it from a recipe I saw online to make it gluten free and lower in fat. My mom and my friend both liked it, and they don't have to eat gluten free. Gluten Free Chicken and Spinach Casserole 1-8 ounce box gluten free pasta (I used De Boles Gluten Free Multi Grain Penne) 16…

NSV-compliment from my brother
When my brother saw me today he said "Wow, I can tell you lost weight sis, you look good!" So nice to hear! I've lost 8 pounds which isn't that visible on me because I still have a decent amount to lose, but he still noticed. I also started eating gluten free and my stomach area is much less bloated. Woot!

Hi there!
Hello! I'm trying to stop the cycle of fad diets and count calories and exercise. I really have an aversion to working out, I think it's the getting started that is hard for me, once I'm doing it it's fine and afterword I feel great. Right now my daily goals are to work on sticking to my allotted calories, eating at least…
