Setting a new post pregnancy start weight
Hi, I'm due to give birth in 9 days. I lost loads of weight with MyFitnessPal after my last baby and want to do the same again this time. As with last. Time, I'd like my start weight to be my heaviest point of this pregnancy. I'm slightly lighter than when I was pregnant with my lat child, is there any way I can set my…

Confess to, analyse & learn from your binge here
Binges happen. Fact. They happen for a reason. Often we're not aware of what triggers them and we end up unconsciously falling into an accidental binge. If you're anything like me, you'll beat yourself up after a binge. Want another fact? Beating yourself up doesn't help. Do you know what does help? Learning from our…

Spinning
How many calories do you personally burn spinning? According to; - MFP? - the bike? - your hrm? Just curious, as MFP says I'd burn 233 in 40 mins where as the spinning website says the average person burns 400 - 600 in 40 minutes. Thanks in advance :-)

I think I've FINALLY discovered the secret to maintenance!
Some background; My 80ish pound weight loss has been my excessive pregnancy weight. It's been off for a while now, but I've struggled with the maintenance phase. I've been moving in circles of going over board on calorie binges (when feeling down in the dumps for example) then feeling I had to restrict my calories and diet…

Calories burned during toning work?
How many calories do you burn during TAM toning work? How do you calculate this? I'm using my HRM to monitor the cardio calories, but apparently these will over estimate toning calories? Thanks in advance :-)

The "it's all ruined" mindset
Does anyone else find this? Sometimes, I can eat something unplanned (usually earlier in the day, usually sugar based) and I realise that, no matter how much I exercise, I have no where near enough calories to eat my remaining meals for the rest of the day without going over my calories. This often leads to feelings of…

4 Golden Rules to beat BED
Just read (and listened the the audio of) Paul McKenna's "I Can Make You Thin". It's about reprogramming your brain to be more satisfied with less food. Has anyone else read this? It is amazing! He has 4 Golden Rules; 1. Eat only when you're hungry. 2. Eat what you want to, not what you think you should. 3. Eat consciously…

Beat the binge technique - try it for a week & report back
Off the back of a 3 day binge & almost 5lb weight gain, I realised I had to do something. I'm already logging everything I eat, even on a binge, but it clearly hasn't stopped me. So, I'm trying something new. I'm still planning on logging in MFP plus posting in this group, but I feel that a picture is worth a thousand…

I've realised sometimes I WANT to zone out
I've spent so much time recently trying not to eat unconsciously, zone out and binge, but today I realised something; When I'm sad and upset, I want to zone out, I actually crave it. It's how I'm feeling now. I want to block it ll out with a binge. I'm struggling today.

How fast do you walk/ run?
Not sure if anyone's asked this before, but....... I was wondering, how fast do you walk & run? I'm on w3 and walk at 5.5 and run and 6.5 or 7. I assume my treadmill works in KM/ hour? Am I running too slowly? Not sure if I'm doing it right. I'd love to hear what everyone else does. Thanks in advance

Lemon water - the verdict?
I've heard it aids digestion, so I'm giving it a go. It's too early to tell if its doing anything yet, so I'm wondering, has anyone else tried it for any length of time? What's the verdict?

Running consecutive days?
I know you're not supposed to do this, but how bad is it really? I don't mean EVERY day, but a few consecutive days can't hurt, right? Ones anyone else run on consecutive days?

W3D1 easier than W2D3?
Why would I find it easier than the previous run? Not that I'm complaining  Anyone else find this?

Just did W2D3
It was hard, buti got through it! Yay!

Under the weather - to train or not to train?
If you're slightly under the weather (as opposed to severely ill and bed ridden) does training help you get better quicker? Or are a few days off in order? I must admit, I'm undecided. Sometimes training makes me feel better, sometimes worse. What do you think?

Why are you proud of yourself this week?
When we have those moments, big or small, where we resist, limit, or even pause during a binge, we should celebrate the, and feel proud. This week, I am proud of myself for; - not besting myself up when I go over my calorie target by a few hundred calories, which would normally lead to an "it's all ruined binge" - not…

What are your emotional / environmental triggers?
We all have them, and apparently identifying & being aware of them really helps. I'll start; Feeling tired - I think, my body is confused. Perhaps it's the fact that when you have very small children, you can't always sleep when you want to. I think I've got into the habit of eating when I'm tired to keep myself awake. Not…

Post your best "Beat the Binge" tips here
People seem to have some really good tips & ideas, so I thought it'd be a good idea to collate these in one thread so we have an easy reference point. It should make a good read when the binge mobster threatens to strike! Please post your top tips below.......

Breaking the binge / starvation cycle
So over the last few months since I've been in maintenance, this has been my pattern; - plan to stick to maintenance calories (for me, 1500 net). - have an upset / tired related binge, go WAY over my calories. - feel really guilty, plan to. reduce my calories massively for the rest of the week (at least) to compensate -…

If your activity level is set to high.......
....... and you then add in your exercises, are you crediting yourself with too many calories? Or does MFP adjust accordingly? Or does the higher activity level mean you DON'T add your exercises in to your diary? I'm still confused

Low calorie sweet treat suggestions
I know not everyone agrees with eating frets / processed foods, but personally, I think that allowing myself small treats when I want them stops me feeling deprived then ending up on a binge. What are your low calorie sweet treat recommendations? I love Boots Shapers Bars in Mint nougat flavour at 81 calories, or Kit Kats…

Activity levels & exercise
A quick question; I am a reasonably active person. I walk a lot (10,000 - 15,000 steps per day) and workout most days. Up until now I've had my activity level set to sedentary then allowed my fitbit to award extra calories for walking and manually added exercise on the days I've worked out. I then aim to stay within my net…

New week, new month, new start! Who's in?
I've been really ill this last week, done no exercise & spent my time comfort eating. To top it all off, Easter Sunday was a chocolate frenzy. Today is the start of a new week (I always ind it easier to feel positive when I look at the week view on the app and there's no really tall columns representing a food binge) & a…

70% dark chocolate - my chocolate nicotine patch
I cannot recommend this highly enough. I have a bit of a chocolate addiction issue. If I start on milk chocolate, there's no stopping me, I just never get sick of the stuff! Now dark chocolate, it's nice, but more satisfying. The flavours linger for longer, so I think this is why I'm less likely to chain eat it. Plus it's…
