Greek Yogurt vrs Goat Yogurt?
I accidently picked up some goat yogurt while looking for greek yogurt the other. While the protein isn't quite as high (but still up there) as greek yogrt, there was 5g of fibre compared to none in the greek yogurt. So which one really is better? The other problem I have incountered is that I can only find plain greek…

Finally found a yummy and healthy granola bar recipe
I have been looking for and testing homemade granola bar recipes for months now. I finally found one that is truly healthy and the kids and I both love them. They stay together well too. I did add 1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips, not as healthy but 1/4 cup devided into 16 can't hurt too much either. I also found that the…

Goat yogurt
I know all of the hype over greek yogurt but what about goat yogurt. I actually picked it up by mistake at the grocery store yesterday while looking for greek yogurt. The protein isn't quite as high as greek yogurt but it has a lot more fibre. It looks like a really healthy yogurt to me but I haven't heard much about it. I…

My first sprint triathlon tomorrow morning
Tomorrow is the day! My first sprint tri. I am confident that I can finish and have done pretty good in my training over the last 2 months. But I am soooo nervous. Everytime I think about it, I get tons of butterflies in my stomac. Hopefully that works to my advantage tomorrow and doesn't make me sick instead. I'm not…

My first sprint triathalon
I saw a sprint triathalon while looking for another 5k to run, so I think I am committing to it for Aug 21st. I'm going to try swimming on Wednesday and make sure I can get a babysitter for the kids for that day since Daddy already has a fishing trip booked for that week. This particular tri is a 750m swim, 20k bike ride…

Date night
My little success is that for date night I suggested that my hubby and I go for a run on the trail. I have a few reasons that I consider this a success. First of all, we successfully took some time for just the two of us which doesn't happen often with 3 kids under the age of 5. Then the fact that I even wanted to go for a…

Active leader
I am one of the leaders for a youth group at my church. On Saturday the kids had a canoeing activity. I was definately looking forward to it. I ended up being the only female leader to go out in the boats with the kids. I was so glad that I was able to go but then not only did I go and learn how to canoe but I did most of…

Is there such a thing as too much fibre?
I just recently added the fibre colum to my food diary. I have been under the inpression that fibre keeps you feeling full longer and is overall a good thing for my body. I seem to be going over on my fibre intake though. I'm not concerned about it as long as too much fibre isn't a bad thing. Anyone know the answer?

Need help with running goal
Hi There, So here is my fitness goal for the end of the summer...back in high school we had to run for twelve minutes and us girls got 100% if we completed 24 laps around the basketball court in that time. Although I'm not very athletic I set my mind to it and worked hard training during our gym classes. I was the only…

Zip Line and Hicking
I did it! I went zip linning and it was great! I am afraid of heights but figured I would celebrate the weight I have lost and become more active. It was awesome! After being such a brave mom, I put my 10 month old on my back and we hiked down the HUGE set of stairs to the beach and explored the rocks. The we went to…

"the pill"
So I started back on the pill last Sunday. I ate really well and faithfully exercised but still gained weight. I am taking the LoEstrin brand because I was still nursing when I got the prescription. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it make a difference what brand you take? I supose any weight gain with the pill will…

Did you sabetoge yourself this weekend?
Last Monday I started a thread about how poorly I do every weekend. I found a number of people in the same boat so we decided to start a support group. Here is the first check in after the weekend. How did you do? Still not as good as I could do, I didn't do too bad. Took my two year old to the drive-in movie theatre for…

I sabotage myself every weekend
Why is it that I can do so well Monday through Thursday and then do so poorly Friday night and the rest of the weekend? My husband noted that if I could just do better on the weekends then I wouldn't have to work so hard the rest of the week to make up for it. He meant well and is completely right. I know I can have a good…

6 kids = no time for lunch
So I'm watching 6 kids (including my own) for the summer. It keeps me busy to say the least which is good for keeping me moving but it keeps me moving right through lunch without a chance to eat myself most of the time. Four of the kids take a nap around 1pm (thank goodness) but by then I am pretty darn hungry. Any…

20 pounds gone!
I look in the mirror and see a tummy that I don't want to see. A little depressing until I think about what I must have looked like 20 lbs ago. That thought revitalizes me instantly. Twenty pounds gone. I've made the effort and it's paying off. Sure there is still a tummy there that I don't want to see but at least there…
