On vacation at all-inclusive resort, gained some weight.
I previously posted a thread about what to do in an "all-inclusive" situation, and most told me to enjoy the trip, since I was on vacation, and that I shouldn't really bother tracking my calories during my stay. Well I've been here for 5 days and I still have 3 to go. I can't say I've been taking good care of myself…

Does whey have any effect on your hormones?
I've been acne-free for about 6 months now, with the occasional small breakout once a month or so. I've also been on a low calorie diet since the beginning of the year. This week, I've been having a full meal, and whey protein with milk and some fruits blended in for dinner. It's the first time I've had whey in months.…

Question about daily protein intake.
Hi! Just a week ago I started lifting again, after six months of not doing so. I'm kind of having a slow start, not being able to lift the weights I used to and all (I guess that's the only negative aspect in losing 29Lbs ;D ). I really want to bulk up, and I understand that to do so, I need to eat more. I've searched on…

Some questions before starting "bulk period"...
Hi, I've lost almost 22Lbs so far, dropped from 189 to 164Lbs. However, after six months, people tell me I need to start lifting, and I kind of agree with them. My arms are too skinny, and so are my legs, and even more noticeable because I'm 6"2' tall. I understand that what I need to do know is called "bulking", am I…

Does food really make you feel more bloated?
I know this may seem like a dumb question. Today is a national holiday where I live, so there was food everywhere, desserts, you name it. And I ate a whole lot of it. I have been dieting for 5 months now, with awesome results. I definitely fell off the wagon today. This is not one of those regret-filled "I ate too much"…

19 years old - 22Lbs lost in 4 months.
Not very often do we actually keep our "new year's resolutions", but this year (at least so far) I've been keeping mine! I literally started dieting the very first day of 2014, I created a MyFitnessPal account, downloaded the app (I'm not sure I can live without it by now) and just started doing cardio. I've been doing…

How many calories are in polenta exactly?
According to the Google search, which gathers common results from various websites, polenta has 606 calories per cup (166g). When I search on MyFitnessPal, results vary from 70cals/100g to 360/cup. That's either a lot of calories, or not so many. Can anyone tell me for sure how many calories it has? I already ate it, so…

Confused about bulking, help?
I've been dieting for a few months, and after one or two failed regimes, I've made it. I'm just not exactly sure how bulking works though? When I think about bulking, lifting and eating like a pig come to mind. But I think I've only got one shot, or else I'll end up being a fat dude with muscles underneath again. My…

How big a factor is sodium (water retention) when dieting?
I don't usually put extra salt to my food. However, recently I've come to the conclusion I eat (drink? have?) too much soy sauce. I basically add it to most of my foods, whenever I feel like adding a bit more of flavor to them. Obviously soy sauce is packed with sodium. I think that may be the reason why I'm losing weight…

Caloric maintenance or caloric surplus for muscle building?
I've been losing fat for a while now. I've definitely slimmed down, but I've also shrunk a bit on size overall, muscle wise. I stopped going to the gym, and focused on my cardio instead. If I'm not wrong, what I've learned from Fitness 101 is that: Burn fat/Calorie deficit Gain muscle/Calorie surplus Now my question is,…

Fatter on left side of my waist than right side...
I've always thought being fatter on one side of my body than the other was a result of working out one side more than the other. But then I found out there is no such thing as "spot-burning" fat, and that we burn fat evenly. My chest and the rest of my body are "even", but I noticed medium fat rolls forming from my belly…

Stop HRM after workout or when HR returns to resting state?
I realize this may be a stupid question, but just to be sure, I'm supposed to stop my heart rate monitor when my heart rate goes back to resting state right? That way, I end up burning +50-80 calories more than usual, so I was wondering if it was "cheating" in any way :)

McDonald's Chicken McNuggets or Double Quarter Pounder?
It's time for my last meal of the day, and I've realized I have loads of calories left until my goal, so I wanna treat myself for once. Even after eating either of those two things, I believe I will still have a couple left. I know neither of those foods are exactly "healthy", but which one would be better? (The burger has…

Is it cheating if I add midnight snacks to next day's diary?
It's my time to go to bed now, and I've reached my goal for the day. However, I'm still kinda hungry and therefore am having trouble sleeping. Is it ok to add my midnight snack to next day's diary? So that I don't mess up my daily/weekly numbers.

Is it possible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time?
My main goal is to lose fat. I've lost a few pounds by tracking my cals and eating way better than I used to. I also go to the gym 5 days a week. However, I haven't noticed much gain in my muscle mass. I don't mind not gaining muscle yet, since I'm focused on getting slimmer for now. I realize it has everything to do with…

Advice for dieting in an "all-inclusive" hotel?
I've been following my nutrition plan pretty well so far, and have lost a few pounds. Now I'm going on a trip and I think it's one of those "all-inclusive" packages... So basically, things COULD get nasty for me. I'm sure there's basic gym equipment, treadmills and such, but I'd rather be at the beach as much as I can,…

Any meals under 350 cals? (Dinner)
I didn't get the time to workout today, so I'm left with 340 calories, and I still need to have dinner! It wouldn't kill me to go over my goal, but I'd rather not if possible. Any ideas?

Is this amount of calories for calorie cycling ok?
I'm 18, male, 6'2". I weigh about 80Kg, I want to get down to 75Kg, which is the lowest I can go while keeping it healthy. Since I only have 5Kg to go, it's getting harder to lose fat. I want to know if this calorie cycling diet is alright for me: Monday 1600 Tuesday 1400 Wednesday 1900 Thursday 1300 Friday 1700 Saturday…

Trying to lose weight, should I stop lifting?
Hi, I'm trying to lose weight here. I eat 2000 calories per day (TDEE = 3000). I do cardio and I burn about 500 cals, then I eat them back to reach my goal at the end of the day. I've lost 14Lbs already, still got about 22Lbs left to go. I also lift 5 days a week at the gym, but honestly, I do it just for the fun of it (am…

I need help with calorie cycling! Please?
I've started cycling my calories today, well it's just one day so far. I have days that I burn lots of calories, guaranteed. And also days where I burn, but not so much. For example, Mon-Wen-Fri, I do intense cardio, so I usually burn 500-600 calories. Tue-Thu however I do lighter cardio for 30 minutes, and burn 200-300…

Would anyone suggest calorie cycling?
I used an online calculator to find out my TDEE. It is 3000 according to the results, so to lose weight I suppose I should be taking 2000-2200 per day. I'm currently trying to leave a plateau, since I screwed up on the first month, took 1000cals per day, lost 14Lbs and got stuck. Next to my TDEE results was a chart that…

Setting up MyFitnessPal for caloric cycle?
Hi! Is there a way to set up MyFitnessPal for a calorie cycle? As in, setting a specific calorie goal for a specific day of the week, instead of the same goal every day? Just asking, not absolutely necessary. Thanks!

Question about setting up the app/my goals.
I've been using the app for a month now but I think I've set it up wrong. My calorie goal for maintenance is 3000 and for weight loss, it's 2000-2400. Obviously, I'm planning on losing weight. My question is: when setting up the app: should I set the goal (the GREEN NUMBER) to 3000 (maintenance) or 2400 (weight loss)? I…

Question about eating back excercise calories.
I've read somewhere that those people who are not exactly overweight NEED to eat back their excercise calories. I fall into that category. My question is: what good comes from burning calories doing excercise, if I have to eat them back again? (I really don't know much about it, that's why my logic may seem dumb) Or do I…

HELP I ate too many calories :|
I've been on a successful diet for a month now, and have lost about 14Lbs. I track my calories using the app. Today I kinda got off track, had a glass of Coke (REGULAR) for lunch, I had beef stew AND white rice, and TWO beef empanadas. It was like "Old Me" took over for a minute and ate everything. All in all, I had about…
