Big calves
Hey everyone, I have quite big calves and can only just do up my new Dr Marten boots :* ( I've not got a huge amount left to lose, just 5kg (although it's the hardest 5kg yet!) and I've been upping my cardio and resistance training. Will this slim down my calves or bulk up the muscle making them even bigger? If so what can…

Leftover roast chicken ideas
roasting a whole chicken today hoping to use it for lunches/dinners during the week. What do people do with leftover chicken apart from the chicken salad sandwich? I'm thinking mixing some with some rice and veggies for a fried rice dish, also possibly some in a tomato sauce with pasta but would love some other suggestions…

Exercising with my friends - insect bites
So while out climbing yesterday I made friends with about a million mosquitos and am now covered in insect bites. I've repellent for the next time I'm out but how do I ease the pain because its driving me mad!!!

Hello from Manchester :)
Hi everyone. I live in Manchester and am trying to get fitter and lose about 8kg to get back into my size 12 clothes. I have a gym membership but am a bit lax in going. Also enjoy climbing and jogging outdoors when the weather is nice.

Cooking with alcohol
So I'm wondering if when you cook with alcohol it effects the calorie content of the alcohol? For example I like a lot of stews and casseroles and will stick half a bottle of red wine in to cook it. As the alcohol is burned off does it reduce the calorie content of the wine when I put it into the recipe creator?

Ah the Christmas season has started!
So it's getting closer to Christmas and the party invitations have started. Work parties, catching up with friends, catching up with family. Lots of meals out and far too much booze! I'm just about keeping it under control, upped my exercise and set the more realistic goal of just maintaining this month but I think this…

Standing V Sitting
So I spend an awful amount of time sitting on my *kitten*. I work at a desk for 7.5 hours a day and sometimes even spend my lunch hour sitting down too. Then I commute for a hour each way to work sitting on the tram. Then I get home and while I do go for a run or whatnot I spend the rest of the time sitting in front of my…

Sore Calves From Running
Hi so I've just got back into running and am doing a mix of longer runs on the treadmill and shorter runs outdoors. I find that I start to get tight calves while running and they can get quite sore if I do a long run. At the moment my warm up is 2 sets of 12 squats and lunges and a 2 min walk. Can anyone recommend a better…

Someone recommend me some headphones
I want to listen to music in the gym. They need to be comfy and preferably not 'in ear' type as I can't seem to find any of those that are comfy. What is everyone else using?

Lunges
So I'm on the last 2 weeks of Stage 1 now and I can lunge with a 10kg dumbbell in each hand. My problem is that the next size up is 15kg and I can't quite lift those. How can I work my way up to the 15kg's? Is there anything else I can do to make them harder untill I'm strong enough to hold the 15kg weights?

Friends doing new rules of lifting for women
Hi I just started doing New rules of lifting for women and am looking for some friends who are also doing it either just starting like me or who are further along. I did my first workout today and am feeling pretty good, the gym was uber quiet though so hopefully it won't be to intimidating using the squat rack with all…

Workout DVD's for those that live on the 2nd floor?
So I used to love doing my MOS workout DVD's but now I live on the second floor and it seems a bit unfair to jump about! I've got some great yoga DVD's but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions for workout DVD's with minimal jumping in?

Signing up for a 10K!
So I have now reached the point where I can run for over half an hour comfortably and I've decided to sign up to the Salford 10K which is in September. I've got a loose training plan to try and stick too but would love to have some friends who are also training for a 10K so if you are then add me ^_^

I could do with a bit more energy!
Sometimes, say about 2/3 times a week I'm so tired when I get home from work that I just can't seem to do anything and just mooch about in front of the telly before hitting the sack early. It really gets me down because I feel I'm missing out on doing my hobbies. My job isn't hugely stressful but I do work 8 hours a day…

All you can eat Chinese
Well I went today with my partner, I was quite restrained and didn't have any of the fried starters like seseme toast and spring rolls. Filled up on the vegetable and tofu dishes and stuck to boiled rice but still dread to think how much fat and sugar was in it. Anyone got any tips for surviving the 'all you can eat'…

Starting the Sonoma diet
Hey I'm just starting the Sonoma diet in an attempt to lose 5kg which I've put on over the last year. Has anyone had any experience with it before? I've picked it because I enjoy a lot of the food it recommends eating and restricts on plate size rather than actual food types which I'm hoping will allow me to keep my…

Hi everyone :)
I've been signed up for a while but have decided to have a serious go at loosing some weight after discovering all my trousers bar one pair are too tight! I like to eat healthy but have a habbit of blowing it all on chocolate deserts or takeaways when I'm feeling too lazy to cook. I also don't exercise as much as I should…
