Am I setting myself up for failure?
I've just started doing more at the gym and worry that it might be too much. My current program is weights 3x a week in the am. I ride my bike 40 minutes (commute) in am and pm. I'll try and do a fitness class in the evening. (Generally Pump or a HIIT class) I also have softball training (not much working out) and a game.…

Is it ok to not lift weights if you're doing classes?
I've found that if I'm doing classes I will go regurally. But with doing my classes I don't have time to do my weights session. My current exercise program is Monday-Friday - ride bike for 45/50 minutes (commute to work) M - Small group training for 30 minutes (generally Kettlebells and cardio) T - Step class and Body Pump…

Weights while pregnant?

Hammer Strength Machines
So. Started at a new gym and part of my sign up was some PT sessions. I stated I want to life heavy and he encourged this. But instead of doing free weights he had me use two different machines I've not had experience with. Both Hammer strength, one was a squat machine. I got perfect form with this machine something I've…

Water Weight Rant
So frustrated. I've jumped back on the bandwagon and am starting to lose again. Dropped 4kg in the first two weeks and was happy though knew it wouldn't stay that way. Then went out on Friday, take out lunch on Sat and rejoined the gym so did workouts on the weekend. I'm not 1.3kg heavier (and was 2kg at one point) I KNOW…

New Friends?
Looking for some new friends. Had lost about 40kg originally, put 10 back on after a break, now back into it and determined to get to my ultimate goal. Am 30, in a steady relationship from Perth Australia. Not looking at starving myself, want to be healthy while enjoying life.

Weights Program that can be done once a week
Due to sports commitments (training twice a week and playing two to three days a week) I'm finding I just don't have the time to do NROLFW as that states you have to do at least twice a week. I do want to keep up with my weights though, can anyone recommend a good program that can be done once a week?

A dancer's body
When the inevitable 'I don't wan to look bulky, I want a dancer's body' topic comes up I tend to roll my eyes. Because the 'bulky' look people keep deriding is exactly the type of body that dancer's tend to have. So here's some examples of dancer's bodies and 'bulky' bodies. There's not that big a difference. (for those…

Giving out phone numbers
I'm still fairly new to the whole online dating thing but what are people's thoughts on when to give out mobile numbers? If you Google my mobile number you get my full name, link to my Facebook and where I'm going to be Wednesday night, address included. (I'm heavily involved in my softball club) I'm a little bit wary of…

The right to bear arms
As an Australian can someone explain to me the rational behind having semi automatic weapons available legally? I know the second amendment but its a right to a WELL REGULATED militia. Not a free for all. Having these guns legally available makes it easier to go on mass killing sprees. Look at the incident in China. 22…

540 days of weight loss
My last thread got deleted. :-( So here we are again (assuming it was the pics showing the changes in my body. So not putting them back on. They're in my profile for those who are interested in seeing the difference weights make) I've lost 40kg now since August 2011. Loving life, if I can do it anyone can. Taken yesterday

540 Days of WLoss & why weights work
Just a warning, the photos at the bototm of this post do have me in a sports crop top and small shorts. Not the most attractive (and bow at my awesome photo editing skills!) I was going through my computer and found a photo taken of me about five years ago. To say I was horrified was an understatement. I just sat at my…

Lunges
So in stage 1, workout B you have to do lunges. I've always taken them as 15 each side (so first set I start with right leg, come back to start position and keep doing right leg. Second set is left leg. A couple of other people have mentioned they do the specified amount for each leg in a set, so the first workout they'd…

Hamstring
I'm having real issues with my left hamstring right now and want some advice. Running to first a week ago I felt it twinge. Was sore for the rest of the night but that's it. Next day, same thing running to first twinges again. Continued playing and no pain when pitching. (Softball) It's been sore pretty much ever since.…

NSV - Airplane
Two years ago when I flew home for my mums birthday I was horrified to find I couldn't do the belt up. I bawled as I had to ask for an extender. Sadly that wasn't my sign but it did start six months later. Last night I got on the plane to come home for Xmas. Not only did I not need an extender but I had to tighten the belt!

Doing A and B same day
I'm currently trying to figure out how I'm going to fit my workouts in each week. I've started training/playing my sport four times a week and trying to fit gym in around that is difficult. I was planning on doing weights only once a week to maintain as much muscle as possible but can I do both workouts in a day? I know…

Lifting Weights only once a week
For me softball season is starting to gear up and I'm finding it very, very hard to get gym time in. I enjoy lifting weights for the strength benefits and just how they make me feel but with softball four/five times a week I'm finding it difficult to find time to lift more than once a week. I know it won't give md optimal…

Question about lifting heavy while playing sport
So come next month I'm going to be playing 4-5 softball games a week. I've just restarted NROLFW but with both games and training I'll be doing softball five days a week. If I continue lifting heavy I'll really only have two nights a week I can do weigh lifting. Monday and Wednesday (even then it's not ideal as I'll be…

Running Question for Women (TMI)
I've been training for a 12km run for this Sunday and signed up on Thursday. Thursday night I started my period. I have no issues with running but for those who have experienced this, what's the best option, tampon, pad or a pair of black undies?

Amazing Night Last Night!
I had my work ball last night. Having lost close to 40kg went right out. New dress, had my hair and make up done and spoiled myself. Small issue at the start of the night with my shoes breaking, but thankfully my flats worked just as well. Kept getting stopped ALL night by people in my department and random people who knew…

Halfway to Goal! Over 80lbs lost
Just realised that I hit the halfway mark and hadn't even realized! So my before after shot. Very proud of myself and how far I've come and can't wait till I get to where I'm going. It's also liberating to realise that yes I DO have a pretty face and that as hot as I am now, I'm going to be ten times hotter at my goal…

One year on MFP 80lbs gone (with pics)
My last post won't let me post, so I am re-posting this Started here just over a year ago. I feel AMAZING compared to where I was last year. I started MFP a year ago (well little over a year but forgot to take photos) I have lost 36kg/80lbs. I feel FANTASTIC. My life is completely different than it was a year ago. I've…

NROLFW for Women vs NROL for Abs
I've done the first two stages of NROLFW and while I loved the first stage the second felt stupid. Due to a plateau and other life issues I stopped with the plan to go back and restart it at the end of July. I just read NROLFA and I REALLY liked it. A lot of the stuff seemed more focused on using my body in every day life…

Have finally broken the 100kg mark
I started back in July 2011 and lost very quickly. Then my plateau hit. At 104kg in April and I just kept going up and down, up and down. I was SOOO desperate to go under 100kg and it felt like it would never happen! I hadnt been that low since high school which was *gulp* 2000. I had signs the last two weeks it had broken…

What is the obsession with thigh gaps?
Can someone explain this to me? With small words? I don't get the obsession with them. MOST of the time they are because someone's got too thin (I'm not talking about the women who have them naturally because of body shape) and I don't understand what is meant to be so sexy about them?

Health at any Size load of crap right?
I had a 'Healthy Heart Check' at work today. This is something my work does every year. Considering I've lost over 35kg since last year I've clearly improved in every measurable way. (except body fat. It had me at 1% more. I laughed and disregarded it. Might go to my doctor for skin fold test) The one that I found…

I need a hug and some advice
First off I don't want any religious judgement. So if that's all you have to offer, please don't respond. I've had a complicated relationship with a friend. We first slept together about four years ago. That lasted about a month, then we fell out and hated each other. We ended up talking again (we worked together) and…

I wasn't that big.... (pic heavy)
For some reason, even with photo evidence I still had in my head that I wasn't that big. I had all my official before shots (taken where I weigh in) I still had that I didn't look that bad. Well after a weekend away and getting some new pics done, I happened to look at the 'My Photos' section on Facebook. Not remembering…
