HELLO
Hello! I've joined this site as part of an assignment in a college level nutrition course; HOWEVER, it's timely as I attempt to lose weight and I'm pre-diabetic.

Dietician During Major Weightloss?
I have a little over 100lbs to lose, and have a strongly renewed interest in getting to a healthy weight following a recent health scare. (Not actually caused by excess weight, but it was more that it was scary to imagine dealing with that while carrying the excess weight.) I considered weight-loss surgery, but decided to…

The Barcode Thing
So, I think this is more about principle. Whether you use the barcode scanner or not, think about the fact that the owners of MFP are willing to take away functionality for people who are trying to be healthy and lose weight. What does that say about their priorities? Do you want to keep supporting a company like that? If…

Mackie Nutrition Scale?
I came across this scale while looking for something that I could bring on the road with me: https://www.mackiescientific.com/ Has anyone used this before? It looks like it has it's own food database plus you can add your own foods and recipes. I know that free apps can do the same, but the nice thing about this being in a…

Meat with Bones I.E. Ribs and wings
How do you handle the calories logging when you make wings at home? Do you include the bones for ribs and wings when you calculate the calories or does the log take into account that part of that is bone when logging the calories?

Calories, Carbs, Sugars Oh My!
For us nutrition newbies out here - is there some kind of "nutrition for dummies" or sort of explanation guide, video, or book that explains not only the importance of enough Calories, Carbs, Fat, Protein, Sodium, Sugar but how to make the right selection when planning meals?

Hello🍀
Not new to MFP, but newly dedicated to my goal (~75 lbs). Overall, I just want to get physically healthy for my family, and also to feel comfortable in my clothes. Perhaps buy something other than black t-shirts and baggy pants😆.

This time around... I cannot lose weight no matter how hard I try
50f, 5'11", 242 lbs. I've been using MFP off and on for a few years now but fell off the wagon after my mother died in 2018. Over the next four years, I devoted my life to caring for my father, and then my grandmother. Now that they have passed, I'm focusing on myself and my health. A couple of months ago, I started going…

How much of a deficit is too stressful on your body?
Hello all I’ve noticed as I get closer to my goal weight my body has become way more sensitive to strenuous exercise and I’m thinking about food ALL the time where in the beginning of my journey I just felt motivated. Now I feel tired, hungry, and anxious and I’m pretty sure it’s related from what I read. Have others…

Eating estimated calories burned
I'm sure this topic has been discussed ad nauseum, but I poked around searching and couldn't find what I wanted. I have always ignored any estimated "calories burned" from machines, MFP, and my Fitbit. I just assume they are probably wrong, especially since I am hypothyroid and my metabolism is a bit sluggish. That said,…

How should you weigh and track food macros ?
I am new to tracking my macros and weighing my food. But how do I know I’m doing it correctly haha. Do I enter the food nutrition when it’s raw or cooked? Which foods do you weigh by oz or grams?

Low appetite
Does anyone else have a really low appetite? I really need to gain weight and my calorie goal is about 1650. If I eat 1300 in a day it’s enough to make me feel stuffed and bloated. High calorie foods like avocado/nuts/etc. just make me feel worse. Any tips for stimulating what little appetite I have?

Calculate a Serving "Size"
Greetings, Nearly all recipes you find are quick to tell you the number of servings a dish was designed to provide, but they never tell you just how much a serving is, whether in standard or metric units. Maybe MFP could have a bit of code that helps calculate this information based on the amounts of the ingredients in the…

Hello everyone!
I’m Diana, a location independant digital nomad. Happy to be part of the community and eager to hear everyone’s stories. I’ve gained 32kg during the pandemic and it all went down hill from there. I’ve made a decision to change my habits and lifestyle by starting working out and reducing the amount of food I eat as well as…

Myfitnesspal not syncing nutrition further back than when I got my iphone
So I’m just about to get an Apple Watch so I’m sorting all my data syncing with apple health before hand. I’m having one problem with myfitnesspal. But the problem is that very specifically the nutrional info I’ve tracked with myfitnesspal (calcium, iron, sodium, etc) is only syncing onto apple health back until around the…

Covid weight
Through the entire Covid ordeal I worked two very physical jobs and ended up gaining 25 pounds. Fully retired for almost a year, I walk and or hike and bike most every day. I also try not to eat after 5:30 PM. :/ :/ So frustrating.

Protein Powder vs Hydrolyzed Collagen
I'm working on losing ~100 lbs (~25lbs down so far!) and am working pretty hard tracking calories. I've been including some protein powder (mostly whey isolate) in my morning coffee/tea and in the occasional smoothie (and tracking it of course). In the past, I was of the opinion that adding protein powder was "just adding…

Target weights in app are wrong for short women
I’m 156 cm tall (5’1.5”) with slight bones and am tired of being told by your app that I’m underweight. Diversity cuts both ways. I’m 44 kilos, mostly muscle, and eat on average 1700 calories a day, 1300 if I want to lose fat. Our culture tells short people things are wrong with our bodies every single day in a variety of…

Millets and diabetes
How millets release glucose? We've always heard and some what believed that millets are good for diabetics, their slow-release mechanism helps to release glucose over a period time, etc So if you never believed it, it's ok, neither did I 😉 So I thought of trying it out and see if there's really proof in this pudding called…

Understanding Fat Goals
I am having a hard time tracking meals to be high calorie, lower fat. Even some of my meals show I have 21g of fat, but most of those are polysaturated and monosaturated. There might be 1g of saturated fat, no trans fats. Mind you, my alternative meals are very low fat, like a salad with maybe 1tbsp of dressing. I am just…

Could we get 6 macros to track instead of 5?
Hello, I was wondering if maybe the owners of this website would consider adding another slot to track macros? I would really want to track protein, but i'd have to get rid of either saturated fat, total fat, sugars, or sodium to do that which I feel is unoptimal. It's not even a paid feature from what I can tell to add…
