Week 4!
Anyone else on it? I have my second day of week 4 tomorrow, and I'm feeling EXCELLENT. I do wish there was more level ground near me, though. I feel like I'm always going up or downhill.

Running Questions
So I completed W1 D2 last night. I can't believe how amazing it felt. I didn't have to cut it short like I cut some of the running (like 5-8 seconds) on the first day. I tried a different route around the neighborhood which worked nicely because there are streetlights. Here are my questions.... If you can answer any/all…

Slow Running
I thought this article on runnersworld.com might encourage some of you who feel like you are running too slowly. http://www.runnersworld.com/article/1,7120,s6-238-263--8938-0,00.html

Week 9 - tadaaaaa - The 5k !!
Avoiding my own logic of not to push my luck, I took myself down to Strathclyde park, where there is a measured 5k route. Warmed up, pressed play & ....... DID IT! The time of 32.24 is respectable, a benchmark for me to work to, the comfort level was low, I struggled towards the end but I'm going to rest myself for a day…

Is anyone else using Robert Ullrey's Couch to 5k Podcasts?
Hi all ... I am new to all this and using Robert Ullrey's Couch to 5k Podcasts. Is anyone else out there using it too and how do you find it. I just find it so useful having him tell me when to run and walk and the music is pretty good too.

New to group, week 7
Hello, I'm Trisha, stay home mom to 5. I'm 32, 5'5" and 190 lbs. My goal is somewhere around 135. I've done the C25k twice before, one I didn't complete. 2nd I did but I never got to were I could actually just run, still had to run/walk. I better say that I could barely run the 1 minute in the beginning. I did w6d3…

Did I just do that?
Thanks to the ever so helpful advice I'd gotten from this group, I am back on track with the C25k program. I can't believe I did the jog 20 minutes workout of wk5 d3! Not only that, but I really pushed myself hard to finish 3.1 miles today. I felt really good the whole while too. Jogged an additional 10 minutes as 2…

Life After C25K?
I'm on track to finish the program this week. So my question is what next? I know some do the bridge to 10k....but I don't know that I have a desire to do a 10k...who out there has continued running? Have you gone back and done the program over again? What did you do to increase speed?

I am now a graduate of the university of c25k - woo hoo
Well guys, This was probably my third or fourth time re-doing c25k. Usually, I dont finish but do make good progress. Well, this year I started in February, got to Week 6/7 and stopped for two weeks. I returned to c25k and ended up being able to run 5k with doing the remaining weeks. When I first ran 5k, I thought it was a…

breathing
I've pretty much finished my C25K but i still can't get my breathing right. 4 steps in 2 steps out isn't doing it for me, not paying attention to it doesn't work either. I feel like if i got my breathing right i could run forever, maybe i just have to work on my physique some more, i'm not sure. I don't really have…

My Couch to 5K Playlist
Since there are intervals of walking and running, I came up with a playlist of songs that mention running or walking. 500 Miles - The Proclaimers Run like Hell - Pink Floyd Fire on the Mountain - Grateful Dead I Ran - Flock of Seagulls Road to Nowhere - Talking Heads Run Around - Blues Traveler Shakedown Street - Grateful…

What do you do on non-run days?
Up until starting C25K I've been exercising 5-6 days per week, alternating strength/circuit training with the elliptical. I know my body can't handle running on consecutive days, but I'd like to work out more than just the 3 C25K days per week. I just started week 2 today, if it matters. So, what do the rest of you do on…

Any Turtles here (ssuuuppper slow joggers)??
Hey all! So, I just finished W6D3 tonight and I basically "jog" at the pace of someone walking "at a moderate pace" according to MFP...basically the treadmill is set to about 3.1 MPH if I understand correctly that's a little less than a 20 minute mile. lol. Granted, I'm over 300lbs and I've NEVER been a runner so I'm fine…

Week 8 is freaking me out!
I just can't get past the mental mind f I keep doing to myself. I have gotten this far and refuse to give up but my head keeps telling me there is no way I can run so long a duration. I need a swift kick in the arse, please?! Or words of encouragement will do too,I guess. ;) Thanks in advance!

Week 3
Anyone else just starting week 3? I did W3D1 last night - the first 3 mins was CAKE! The second 3 mins not so much. LOL But I pushed through it and felt great. Per my BodyBugg I burned over 700 cals during my workout last night!! Chime in if you're also on Week 3!

Describe your last run in one word (feel free to elaborate after though)

Hey, ladies. Question...
While running, I've noticed quite a bit of underwear creep. Any specific brands or types anyone uses? I spent way too much time digging them out of my butt, lol.

REALLY wanting to do this...
Couch to 5K, that is.............. I'm afraid that I'll slack off. I used to be able to run forever, because I didn't have a choice (I was an athlete in high school). Our coaches would either run with us, or follow us in their cars (ha!) to make sure we were running. 10+ years later, I'm finding myself winded at…

Just finished!
Yesterday morning I finished Week 9, Day 3. I'm really excited! The program has given me a great sense of satisfaction, both along the way and now that I'm finished. I do plan to continue running, and I see that registration opened today for the 5K I want to run, so I'm going to sign up tonight. I posted a blog with my…

Hello all, I have had to stop running, for a while. Has anyone here had probems with there heel? I had a heel spur along time ago on the right foot but i have pain in my left heel I thought this is what was wrong. I had been hurting on and off for about two months but it would go away the next day until the last three…

Post-run stryches
What kinds of stretches do y'all do after your runs? I don't know the names, but I: Stretch quads by standing on one foot and pulling the other foot back Stretch calves by pressing the wall with the ball of one foot against it Stretch hamstrIngs by sitting in a straddle and bending forward and the over each leg. Increasing speed for 5km
I have just completed the C25K program but my first 5k race is not until 6th May. From now until then I would like to continue doing my 3 runs per week but I wondered if anyone had any tips on how to go about increasing speed. At the moment I am anywhere between 7.5 to 8.5km/hr on average. I have done 5km in about 35 mins…

Going from 300 to 175
I started my journey the end of December at 300 lbs. I hated myself. I have now lost over 30 lbs and I am loving who I am becoming. Eating healthy and exercising at home have propelled me to get outside and start to get my run on! However, I want to start a c25k program, but most of the folks I see post here are not as…

Starting Over - outside
So I started C25K back in January on the treadmill. My 5k was March 5th. I had to repeat a week or two here or there, so I was at week 6 when I did my 5k. I did it in 46 minutes and while I was proud I finished, I realized IT'S A LOT HARDER OUTSIDE! lol So I decided to start over, but do it all outside now. Spring has…

Struggling!
Hi all you C25k-ers! I was wondering... I'm having a horrible time getting past 1min 15 sec for consistent running/jogging. I'm find the first minute, but by 15 seconds into the second I'm dying! My chest constricts, my ankles hurt, I even get dizzy sometimes. Even my heart rate jumps way up. I was wondering if anyone else…

Week 1 of C25K
Hello, So I started working out last week, starting slowly. Usually when I work out I start out vigorously and then I get tired, then eventually I just stop working out. This time I will do it differently, the smart way. The reason why I'm doing this is to lose weight and stay in shape. Anyway, last week I was doing a…

HRM & Heart Rate
My HRM allows me to set a target zone for my heart rate. At 40, my maximum HR should be 220-40, or 180. I will get my HR up into the mid 150's (e.g. 157) and not feel out of breath. Should I set my target HR zone for 144-162 or 126-144? How did you determine your target zone? What did you decide to set yours at?
