c25k mentioned in an interview on nerdfitness.com
I'm reading an interview (http://nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/09/15/how-to-not-suck-at-running/) on nerdfitness.com with the strengthrunning.com guy, and they talk about c25k. This is of interest to me (I'm paused in the middle of c25k due to a pulled calf, made it to week 4, day 2 and clearly didn't warm up enough that day).…

Just started week 4
NSV- been dreading week 4 of c25k but I did it! I can't believe I just did that. It's 3 min jog, 90 second walk, 5 min jog, 2.5 min walk, 3 min jog, 90 second walk, and 5 min jog. The second 5 min jog I couldn't do straight - I had to mix some power walking in - but I still did it!!!!!!! OMG. Also please note, I need to…

Sore Feet (Achilles)
I am just starting week 5 day 1 of the couch to 5 k program. For the last week my achilles tendons are very sorry. Has anyone else experienced this? Am I doing something wrong and is there some way to relieve this pain so I can continue my program?

Increase Speed during last few weeks?
I finished week 6 today. I am only running at 4.4MPH. SLOWWW. I ran faster when the program was intervals. Should I try to increase my speed by .1 or .2 each day during the last few weeks or try to run longer to get the distance or just do the program as normal(I run on time not distance) and work on speed after? Thanks --…

Struggling with Week 6
Hey you happy runners :) I've now reached Week 6 of C25K and was quite happy with my journey til now. Even though I managed the 20min at the end of Week 5 really well, I'm now totally overwhelmed with even the second day of Week 6. Did you also suddenly start to struggle during the programme? I'm just a bit discouraged now…

used to run - can I sign up for a 5k in July/Aug/Sept?
Hi - I used to run for fitness before I had two kids over the last 3 years. Now that the littlest is 1.5, I want to try again. I think I'm starting from scratch, except for knowing what to expect a little bit, so I think C25K is right for me. But, I'd like to motivate myself by signing up for a race. Some of the articles…

completed my first 5k!
I ran in the iron woman 5k in Clearwater on Sunday. It was my first, and I finished in 34:28. That's 3 minutes faster than my practice time! I think I may have been able to go a little faster, but we had to go up this big *kitten* bridge, and most of us walked. I came in 1354th out of 2534! I can't wait for my next one in…

Completion of Program C25K
I just finished week 5 day 3, thought it was going to be very difficult to complete, but I did it, even kept running for the additional 5 minutes then did my cool down. Total run time 25 minutes. If I can complete this task does anything think it could be ok to just keep running the 25 minutes straight of finish the…

Week 1 Day 1 of C25K down, should I accelerate the program?
I have to say after nearly 5 or 7 years of no attempt at running save for softball and basketball I was quite surprised at how easy that was. I know don't take for granted the purpose of the whole program but I am wondering if I should accelerate it a bit? Maybe I am not as slow and old as I thought? I followed the podcast…

problems with jogg and walk
In my mid-30's I ran in 10K races. Now in my mid-60's when I try to get back into jogging by adding jogging to my regular 3 mi. (50 minute) walking routine I develop the same "water-on-the-knee" problem that I have been plagued with on occasion. It is due to fluid filling up in the sacks around the kneecap (left). I think…

Coping with Allergies while trying to complete c25k
I am doing c25k at my own pace and now have made it up to the middle of Week 5. I run outside, both out of personal preference and a dislike of treadmills and the expense of the gym. I can now say that I enjoy my time running. However, this is a bad allergy week for me. I have had some pretty bad sinus pressure and am…

New here...returning to running after injury
Hi all! I'm new to this group. I'm a former runner who's been sidelined by a misdiagnosed injury. Finally got back on track a couple of years ago, after several years of terrible pain, then disaster! I reinjured myself last July, and it was so bad my physio said to stop running completely and work on building strength,…

Just ran a 5k!!
I'm still on week 7, but I decided to push it today...and I ran for 3.1 miles without walking whatsoever...and only 3 15ish second stops for water. It took me a heck of a long time (50:30), but I'm still thrilled to have just done it without walking. As I was walking home from the park I passed a little stretch that I…

Started Today!
I just finished my first work out on the road to a 5k. Im using the NHS c25k podcast on my little mp3 player. It was refreshing to get outside. I have to get out their earlier as the heat is gonna kill me here in Austin :) Question 1: I dont like how the HRM fit on me, so I am not using one to figure out calories burned.…

When are you done with c25k?
I know it's a weird question, most of you will probably say after the last day of the last week...but here's my situation...I'm on week 7, but the other day I ran for 30 minutes. Iknow the point is to go through all the runs, but have you ever skipped weeks? I'm thinking of fast forwarding to week 9 (the 30 min runs), and…

Week 2 People
Just ran day 1 of week 2 this morning -- seems harder, but easier than week 1 at the same time. I felt like the time went by faster running for 1.5 minutes at a time - but it definitely got hard towards the end and I was pleasantly surprised when my final run interval was only 1 minute. How's everyone else doing?

Just finished week 1!
So yesterday I learned about the C25K running program, and I decided that this morning I'd give it a try~ Got up at 8am and started it. I gotta say, even if I was super tired and loathed the time when I had to start running, it was overall an enjoyable experience. I'm definitely gonna keep up with it to go along with my…

can my HRM be right?
I've been wearing a heart rate monitor with a Garmin GPS since week 4, day 2.... today I ran week 6 day 2. It usually gives me calorie burns between 175 and 190. Today I ran a touch further than ever before with my average heart rate in the range of what it usually is and my average pace a minute faster than ever before…

Bad Moods when can't run!
Is it just me or does anyone else get really irritable/in a bad mood on days you can't/don't run? Not so much on rest days, as I'm used to them and do other exercise...but if I'm prevented from running when I planned to, or delayed, I turn into Godzilla!! I'm only on W6, so not exactly an athlete, and I do struggle with it…

Recovery Debate
So, a friend on Facebook is also taking up running. She isnt doing a C25k, but another program here in town. We were discussing her recent injury and muscle pain. I suggested she take it easy for a few days until the pain subsided, and make sure to drink a good fruit smoothie after she runs or at least a fresh bananna and…

Week 3
I survived day 1 of week 3...barely. The first 3 minute jog, I did fine....the last one though I was totally about to die and was hanging all over the handrails...it was ugly  . I don't care for Julia Michaels (not sure of the name of that trainer on Biggest Loser) but I did keep imagining her saying "you're not…

Got fitted for running shoes
Wow what an amazing difference. I just always checked the sale ads for the cheapest brand name shoes and bought what I thought was my size. The store I went to video taped me running up and down the store...talk about embarrassment. I knew I overpronated but didn't know exactly how bad, and even more important…
