  • How far do you go over by, and what is your goal? How drastically are you trying to lower your intake? Are you going over because you are hungry, or are you going over because you're eating too many foods with higher calorie content?
  • Strive for progress, not perfection.
  • I see you're going to do this anyway, but I'm all for it. I like the idea of trying to figure out if you can eye-ball your meal portions when you're out. When you're at home it's a whole different experience. There's no rush, there's not as many major temptations to eat as much as everyone else, etc. Go for it. :-) I'll be…
  • Hey Christine, feel free to add me as a friend. :-) I've just reached my one year mark of continual logging into MFP. Hooray! Congrats on starting your journey. The hardest part is putting your shoes on. :-D
  • I started eating to my MFP calorie count, and I had a walking buddy for a few weeks while it wasn't raining, and I lost over a kilo in about three weeks, which is pretty good. I was doing about three or four days a week with 20,000 steps or so (approximately 10k at work and 10k after work). We had a system, you earn your…
  • Sure you can! I'm happy to be friends though, so feel free to add me. :-) Start small, aim for small goals. If you go all gung-ho right off the bat you have a higher chance of falling off the wagon. You'll be fine! Just remember why you're here and see how you go.
  • Just because you think it will work doesn't mean that it will. Pork rind? Cheese? Sausage? I don't think those are the kinds of fats that are meant to be consumed with that kind of diet. You're not dieting, you're having a lifestyle change. Keep doing what you're doing and see who gets the weight off and keeps it off in…
  • Hi Tia, welcome to the forum! Feel free to add me as a friend if you like :-)
  • Pole was absolutely amazing for strength exercises and cardio. I'd definitely recommend it. Most importantly, it's RIDICULOUSLY FUN! It's a full body work out, and it's a non traditional form of exercise. If you can get a group of friends to go with you it's good as well, because you can keep each other motivated. Or even…
  • You'll be great! Just remember that you're doing this for you. It's a very positive life change. If it was my family giving me grief about my weight I'd straight away tell them "if you're not going to offer constructive criticism or help me, then back off!" You'll show 'em, Sweets. Good luck! I'm sending you a friend…
  • My personal trainer pushes me harder than I would go on my own. He teaches me the things to do when I am on my own in the gym, we talk nutrition and he's fun to hang with for an hour, so for me, it's worth it. However it is expensive. if you can push yourself to reach your goals, then I wouldn't worry about it short term.…
  • What is trivial to some is deathly important to someone else. Just because one person thinks it's overstating does not change the fact that, to the OP ,it is something they care about. It is very uncharitable to be condemning someone's feelings. You'll be okay. Take it slow, don't beat yourself up if things don't look to…
  • Feel free to add me :-) Everything I do is in kg's because I'm in Australia but I figure we are probably aiming for a similar goal :-)
  • What's the question? Why does it look like that? Why is it for tomorrow and not today? There's no additional information here. What is it you want to know?
  • Hi there! Good luck on your journey, I'm sure you'll manage it spectacularly :-) Congratulations for making the decision to be a happier and healthier version of yourself. That's no small decision to make! If the headache continues, I'd say see the doctor to make sure you're eating enough. Keep your water intake up to…
  • You've done it before, you can do it again :-) Being fit and healthy is the aim of the game. Weight loss is just a bonus!
  • There's a reason why they say "put your own oxygen mask on before helping others, including children" in a plane safety briefing. You can't help others if you don't help yourself first. An ex boyfriend of mine challenged me to wear a bikini at the beach one day, without my board shorts. He said "no, you're not the most…
  • What up, Chuck? :-) Hiya!,
  • I'm in Brisvegas! Feel free to add me. Same goes for all you other Aussies too :-)
  • There's a great website called Symply Too Good to be True. They do great healthy meals, all family favourites, that are nutritionally balanced and fill you up without taking too many calories out of your day. http://www.symplytoogood.com/ Give it a go and see what you think. I find them a great help, when I get around to…
  • I had the fitbit flex and the Charge HR. The flex kept putting itself into sleep mode while I was at work, and it annoyed the crap out of me. I much prefer the HR for the heart rate factor, the stairs climbed log and just overall usability of the app.
  • I ignore my fitbit when I do any kind of exercise that isn't walking or running, I use an app like Runtastic that will log cycling etc and give you a gps read out as well as approximately calorie burn, and it syncs to MFP and overrides the fitbit calculations for that time frame. Works well for me. The sleep mode on the…
  • I got the chargeHR because of the added heart rate monitoring. It's not infallible but it's helpful to keep you in the "fat burning zone". It also picks up phone calls to tell you who is ringing, tracks sleep automatically unlike the flex, which I have also had. It's also much more secure on the wrist, having an actual…
  • Skinny cow triple chocolate sundae is 150 cal. Or their choc sundae (140) or the caramel vanilla (104). Ugh, they all taste delicious!
  • I read this and wanted to go home right away and start putting dots on my calendar for good and bad days. It's a great idea! That way you can track the trends. As for dealing with temptation, well... What's harder: resisting the urge to eat the bad food, or dealing with the self loathing later? That said, if you fall off…
  • Oooh yeah, happens all the time. "I've bought it, I need to finish it so I don't eat it tomorrow too". I'm so bad at it. It's how I end up eating whole packets of biscuits and entire blocks of chocolate in a single sitting.
  • Try not to be so hard on yourself. These things happen, just get back on board and keep going. So long as the trend is downward, you'll be okay. How do you let this happen? Easy, you tell yourself it's okay. What's worse though, saying no to temptation or this kind of self loathing afterwards? Despite the fact that you've…
  • Don't focus so much on how much weight you're losing, just think about how much healthier you are becoming. Weight loss is a side effect of eating healthy :-) You've got this! I agree, keep your goals small. If it helps, if you think of your weight loss in kilograms you only have to lose 68kg! That's a much smaller number…
  • Do you call yourself fat? Make sure you are losing weight for you, not because other people don't approve of you. If you are doing it for the right reasons, good luck to you. Log everything you eat and drink for a couple of days and pick the trends in your eating so you know what needs to be improved on.
  • I know the feeling. At work I get provided a decent lunch meals for cheap, but my hours are erratic so by the time I get home it might be after eight thirty and all I want to do is buy maccas and sit in front of the TV. The main thing is, you're determined. You're trying again. I tried about five times before it finally…
