Hi Robin. I've been where you are. I got active, lost 110 pounds, no longer take insulin, and next week I'm starting a Type 2 support group at my church. Add me to your friends if you'd like, or send me a message if you have any questions.

Hey ladies. Congratulations on taking that first big step and joining MFP. I've been on the journey for 5 years, lost 110 pounds, walk/run 15-20 miles a week, and have been able to get off insulin for type 2 diabetes. It's not easy, there are no magic pills, and the fad diets are a waste of time (and often money). Hard…

That looks amazing. Tex-Mex is one of my go-to cooking styles, and I'm definitely going to try this one!

Start with small, incremental changes to your diet (with a small d), don't deprive yourself of what you like (just eat smaller portions and less often), set easily attainable goals (and adjust as you make progress), and make the commitment to get moving. I'm 54, have lost over 110 pounds the last 4+ years, and if I can do…

Probably not. ;)

A low carb tortilla with peanut butter and sugar free jelly, or pb and a couple slices of bacon (don't knock it till you try it!) After working out I make a protein shake.
-
I usually eat half of a banana, or a tablespoon of peanut butter. Sometimes both if my blood sugar is a bit low before a workout.

I've lost 110 pounds, and continue to exercise, maybe even more than I used to, because it's easier to do without the extra "padding". I spend at least 60 minutes a day, 6 days a week. Walking/running 6 days a week, resistance training 2 days, and HIIT once a week.

Just an observation on the OP's username, grumpylupe. Maybe if she ate real food she wouldn't be so grumpy?!?!? Sorry, couldn't help myself...

debrand.com/shop/product_detail.cfm?loption_id=2042&lsubcat_id=12&lsku=2325 Absolutely THE best chocolates you will buy, and one piece at a time is more than enough (i usually eat half at a time).

I've lost 110 pounds in the last 4 years, so I've been down that road. Any can add me if you'd like. I log every day and try to help and encourage my MFP friends!

Started working on my fit at 50 (that was 4 years ago), and have lost 110 pounds, walk/run 15+ miles a week, and do 3 HIIT workouts a week with resistance bands. Not there yet, but getting closer. :)
-
It's only harder if you think it's harder. ;) Start with small changes, get moving, and see where it takes you! BTW, I'm 54 years old, and have lost over 110 pounds since turning 50.

Add me if you'd like. I've been on the journey for 4 years now, over 110 pounds lost, and I no longer take insulin for type 2 diabetes. Sensible changes to diet and exercise works!

Thai Tom Yum soup is my go to when I'm feeling like a cold is coming on.

Same here, at least 3-4 days a week, but I use a LaBandarita carb counter tortilla instead of bread.
-
Stunning! What a transformation! Thanks for sharing your story with us! I've dropped 110 pounds, with about 10 more to go, so I understand what an accomplishment this is! Again, thanks for sharing!

Broccoli and cauliflower are both expensive in SE Michigan, so I haven't bought any for a couple weeks now. Really missing my roasted broccoli.

I try to stay at or around 100 net carbs a day, and 30 grams of fiber. As a type 2 diabetic, this works for me. YMMV...
-
Sorry I can't help as I don't use the MFP recipe builder. I use a program called Master Cook to build my recipes. It has a feature that will give nutritional breakdowns, so I just plug the numbers into MFP using the add food to the database option.
