You can love yourself and also work towards specific goals. I'm a big fan of me. I'm not a big fan of flappy arms. I am a big fan of the endorphin burst I get after a good bootcamp session. I'm pretty proud of myself when I cook something healthy. BUT DARN THOSE FLAPPY ARMS. I've accepted them as part of the package, for…

Perhaps, instead of trying different diets, ask yourself what triggers the binge.

When was the last time Grandma got her eyes checked?

You are not alone! In fact I think Adele wrote a whole album about this . .. .

I like to go over to the success stories page and read the NSV threads - it helps keep me motivated. Other than that, a lot of it is lifestyle changes. I have a couple of eggs in morning, salad for lunch, vegetable soup for dinner, pumpkin seeds for snacks. NO SODA. NO DIET SODA EITHER. I might have some berries as a…

OH I've been there - I was doing open mics until someone showed me a video of me playing and singing . . . . I looked terrible and the singing wasn't so great either. I was getting a lot of compliments but that was the moment I threw in the towel. A few years later I was at an art event and decided to pose with a piece for…

Allow me to lend my condolences. Grieving is a an emotional process that stresses the body and the mind. You deserve comfort. A friend of mine went down a few dress sizes by making a set of rules - if she was tempted to do something she knew she'd regret (I think in this case it was texting and/or reaching out to an ex)…

a warm cup of tea right before bed time can help, and I find that the less sugar I eat, the less I crave it.

I've heard that some people get a sort of phantom limb effect where they still feel like they're carrying the weight they lost for a few weeks. Sometimes the best thing to do is to find something you like about the things you have to do to lose the weight - it could be the craft of cooking, or the money you save when…

If you're losing a pound a week, that's a fantastic start! the easiest thing you can do for your diet is cut out all sugary beverages, even diet beverages. Stick to water. After that, abstain from deserts, and then decide if you want to try a keto diet, mediterranean, vegetarian or go with a CICO plan. Different things…

My jeans feel so loose around my waist!

I eat eggs every morning with a little bit of cheese and tomatillo salsa. I get the happiest most grass-fed field-trip taking Colin-named chicken eggs I can find.
-
I'd stick with something close to what I usually eat every morning, which is two eggs with cheese and salsa and strong cup of coffee.

Holidays happen. Remember you had fifteen healthy days before you celebrated . . . so you took fifteen steps forward and one day off, that's a great start to a diet! Just think of how good you'll feel in the next healthy fifteen days. I've found that as I get more involved in cooking my own food, I'm getting better at…

The thing that worked for me was falling in love with vegetables and finding a very supportive fitness studio.

Once I weighed myself after a long time of avoiding it, was horrified by the number I saw, realized I needed to lose a lot of weight, moped about it for a month or so, started eating healthy, exercising more, seeing a difference . . . . . and then I noticed that the scale was off by about twenty pounds. I had spent a month…

I have been exercising three times a week, now going up to five - it's a small, independent workout studio with very supportive trainers and regulars. They're all about exercise as its own reward and pacing yourself etc. Usually after a morning workout I just feel amaaaaaaaaazing.

Indian as apple pie is blog with lots of low fat vegan Indian recipes. I just tried her fire eggplant recipe - tasty!

My mother lost 100 pounds by cutting out sugary treats and junk food. She usually keeps a little supply of nuts with her if she gets too hungry.

Make sure you're getting enough protein - organic meat will make you feel satisfied for longer, and that might help you keep the cravings at bay. It's better to overindulge on nutritional food (green vegetables!) than sugar and carbs.

I've got the dueling crock-pot/instant pot going on now: the instant pot just finished a lovely mushroom risotto, crock pot is channeling Anupy Singla and cooking a spicy eggplant stew. I try to do more vegetarian meal prepping during lent so I have something to eat on Friday.

I love this recipe: http://www.girlcooksworld.com/2013/04/creamy-goan-black-eyed-pea-curry.html three cans, onion and some spices! And it's soy/gluten/dairy free!

pickled vegetables - just eat them out of the jar! If you challenge yourself for a few days to stay away from sugary treats, the cravings will disappear.

Check the success stories / most recent NSV (non-scale victory). It really motivating! I personally haven't had great success with the 'eat what you choose within a deficit' method, so I focus on setting a consistent plan of protein + leafy green salads, ignore the fat count and keep the sugar intake as low as possible. a…

we do box jumps at my gym too, but the trainer has had me do steps on the pedestal until just recently, when he had me start on a short box jump on a platform that's probably only about 6 inches. So, you know, work your way up to the box jump station. You can always do squat jumps to your comfort level.

You might want to try getting more protein and leafy greens into your diet, instead of focusing on 'low cal'. Make a goal of eliminating all but one of the carbs from your diet. The 900 calories might be a little low, which is why you're resorting to the snacks. I personally love eggs but I usually get the most…

Daily, right after I do my business in the morning, and with as little clothing as possible. When I worked in patient education, this was the instructions given to heart failure survivors, and I guess it just stuck with me. The plateaus are tough but I if forget to weigh, I forget to do everything.
