  • My go to is Burgers -- you can do so much and they're easy to make. My favorite is blue cheese and franks hot sauce topped w/bacon. I also do a ranch and cheddar, a BBQ and cheddar, and I use a variety of seasonings to change up the flavors. I meal prep, so I pack up in batches of 3 (2 for hubby, 1 for me). Just defrost…
  • Similar problems ... Hubby likes my expensive treats like Moon Cheese and Bacon's Heir pork rinds. He's money conscious so I all I had to do was tell him that the little pork rind bags are about 3 bucks a piece, so he now understands not to eat 4 bags in a sitting.
  • I'm on those same lists I think. Personally, I just scroll past and do what works for me. My Keto lifestyle is by no means perfect, but it works for me. Sadly, I usually don't post on those other lists because I don't want to be slammed. I like it here ... Everyone has been most helpful and supportive. I have never been…
  • Sadly, I've tried many many diets .... I've done something called the Micro Diet an infomercial in the 90's which was shakes and bars, and packaged meals that only gave me diarrhea and I took drops you add to water - I had no clue what they were, that I got from an Asian Doctor that you added to water and drank before…
  • I test just because I have the pee strips, but I don't stress about the reading. I can tell by the smell of my urine even if the strips say trace. Just got the Nova max but haven't tried it yet.
  • Mostly diet coke, but I'm trying to kick the habit. Am trying seltzer w/stur flavors to that goal.

  • I ordered the Adapt bars that Dr Westman promotes - he talked about them in the Keto Summit. https://www.adaptyourlife.com/adapt-bars/ They're 2 net carbs. I haven't received them yet, but should get them any day now. I bought the sample pack with a variety of things so will let you know how they taste when they get here.
  • As cat say above - this is what pertains to ME. I've been Keto for about 7 weeks now (and have done low carb in the past) Keto is more than just being low carb, it's about consuming less than 20g carbs and having the "right" proportion of fats, carbs, and protein in what you eat, and it's not high protein but rather a…
  • I need to stop .. I'm a Diet coke addict.
  • 8 weeks in and I still sometimes struggle. Allow yourself to eat but keep it Keto. Eat more fat. Have Keto friendly foods readily available - I buy cracker cut cheeses, olives, hard boiled eggs, macadamia nuts - things I can pop in my mouth quickly and easily so I don't feel "deprived" of what I want. Find substitutions…
  • I called customer service and they said it should be fine and to just refrigerate. I did originally check the Amazon comments and went with Laura Scudder because the other brand mentioned said it was too runny at room temperature. The jar has now been in the fridge for over 24 hours and while thicker, it is still runny as…
  • we had a peanut butter conversation a couple of weeks ago, so from that I bought the Laura Scudders Smooth, which came today ... it is liquid ... the whole jar, Not like the oil separated out and just needs to be stirred, but liquid, it is like broth consistency. I thought it was just because I got it from Amazon and it…
  • So sorry to hear, but glad you're OK. Your area was hit pretty hard. We were in Miami which didn't have much problem. My house in Central Florida is also without power so I expect I'll be throwing out lots of food when we get up there next weekend. Been trying to decide whether I need to drive up just to clean out the…
  • Thanks for all the info. I may try some of the brands mentioned for starters, but intend to make my own. If it's not smooth enough I might try adding coconut oil. You've all helped clarify some things.
  • Thanks for this .... I had a recipe that also used eggs and it seemed difficult so I was hesitant to try it. This sounds easier for a first try. I have a bunch of the DaVinci syrups. Thanks!
  • When I'm craving, I try to find something similar on Pinterest that will help me over the urge. I'm not really hungry, but just feel like I'm missing whatever it is so I try to find a suitable substitute. If you cook, you can try this one .... http://www.ruled.me/keto-bites-general-tsos-chicken/ My cooking skills have been…
  • Glad they are doing an encore. I missed the first and last days speakers.
  • All the brands mention have about 4g net carbs - but they are low sugar. I favor Peter Pan -- it still has 4g net carbs like the others but has more sugar than the others - it's in the ingredient list too … on a low carb diet how important is it to pay attention to the sugar content as well as carbs? @KetoGirl_ZC I am…
  • you can log your glucose readings as part of your meal. Just do a search for blood glucose - there's one for fasting and one for before meals - others too. There are no nutrients listed so it doesn't interfere with your nutrients. Additionally, you can also go to my home, then check-in, then track additional measurements…
  • I understood that it was total fasting vs LCHF. I was just in my mind wondering why IF doesn't make you lose lean body mass too -- I guess it's because you are consuming enough fat at some point in your day.
  • I buy the Purdue grilled chicken short cuts - zero carb (seasoned versions have carbs). Anyway, I like them because they are versatile - chopped up for a chicken salad, mixed w/pepper, topped w/cheese. They were recently on BOGO at the grocery, so my freezer is stocked. For frozen food, my goto is Michael Angelos chicken…
  • Olives and/or cheese
  • About 11 minutes in he talks of a comparison of fasting to a LCHF diet. Where the weight loss on the fasting was lean muscle and whereas on the LCHF it was fat .... If that is the case ... Curious why IF works ... Is it because you get fat/protein in your eating window ? Haven't tried IF yet, but have been thinking…
  • I'll be OK for Halloween, just won't have candy in the house. We have very few trick or treaters and plan to give out packs of Davids sunflower seeds. For Thanksgiving, I love stuffing. In my past, I've even made stuffing sandwiches. I'm fine with just meats and veggies and will have a small portion of stuffing then move…
  • I've thought about this quite a bit mostly in regards to bacon - I like mine crispy, which means more fat is rendered off, so I assume there's less of a percentage of fat. Then my thoughts derail because the bacon is finished and it tastes so good.
  • Type 2 diabetic here. I log all foods. Following Low Carb/High Fat Keto diet. Feel free to friend me to see my food logs.
  • Asparagus in butter with blue cheese crumbles or Green beans in herb butter w/bacon and pepper flakes.
  • I log everything even when I break weak and cheat. It's a psychological thing for me. If I'm logging, I'm less likely to cheat. That's also why my food diary is private, if others are looking, I might lie about what I've eaten just to look good. Yeah ... I've got issues. I try to eat only when hungry, but it's tough…
  • Florida Was Keto for about 7 months, then fell off the wagon for a couple of months ... Back on LCHF Keto for 4 weeks now.
  • @53YOWM yes, and follow them on Facebook. I particularly like that he believes that you can't "cure" diabetes, but that you can keep it under control with the LCHF diet.
