  • My biggest obstacles are that I eat too fast and too much. What I eat is usually healthy but I cannot get the hang of mindful eating. I think if I could do this I'd eat more moderate amounts but when I think if doing this I feel sad and deprived and so I don't do it.
  • I admire you so much. You've saved your own life and those pictures and that story will inspire me to realise that real success is indeed possible.
  • I don't know about body building but I want to say how wonderful you are to lose that weight. Fantastic
  • Instead of losing kilos I suggest that you try to gain healthy habits to last the rest of your life. I have taught myself to eat just 15 or 20 grams of chocolate per day. What a change from my whole block binges! I now love crisp red and green apples, golden oranges, and sweet little grapes. I had a heavy fatty meal the…
  • Flocabulary sounds interesting. Have you tried Kahoot? It's exciting and the students love it.
  • I think you handled that situation superbly and you will go from strength to strength.
  • Fast food makes you fatter faster but flab doesn't feel fabulous. Try saying this faster and faster.
  • I bought a set of different teas with named like Ginger Rose and Italian Chamomile etc. I name each kilo I lose after one of them and once I've lost the whole kilo I celebrate with some cups of that tea.
  • If I eat enough healthy food, then the power of junk gradually decreases. Also setting up habits like going to bed earlier can help to strengthen you. Also try this. Relax the muscles around your eyes. Notice how this relaxes your head and shoulders. Let the relaxation in your shoulders flow down your arms and body,…
  • You were 215 and now you're 170. You absolutely can do this. You are going to make it. Here's an interesting new thing to add into the mix. Relax the muscles around your eyes. Notice how your face and scalp relax? Now relax your shoulders. Let that good feeling of relaxation flow down down until it settles in your tummy…
  • Every time you think one mean thing about yourself, I want you to give yourself 3 compliments, given in the sincere friendly way you would give them to other people. Treat yourself as an honoured guest in your own life. Be courteous and encouraging to yourself. Think of some treats for yourself and know that the people on…
  • Several members of my family gave up alcoholism by going to Alcoholics Anonymous. They say that the support and encouragement they get from their AS group has transformed their lives as well as enabling them to live free from alcohol.
  • Keep a diary. Give yourself stars and stickers when you exercise or make good choices. Take photos of the high calory food that you choose not to eat at work - quietly so as not to hurt others feelings. Be proud of the new habits you are setting up. You're a legend. Notice how much progress you're making.
  • Jonathan Hairy has written a helpful book called The Happiness Hypothesis. He has some very useful ideas for becoming happier and healthier.
  • First very practical stuff. Eat enough healthy food. Don't be hungry all the time or you'll soon cave into eating junk. Next think of weight loss as a way to get to know yourself in a kindly way. When you eat junk, check out what triggered that. Did you stay up too late? That causes unhealthy choices for me. Have you…
  • Try saying to your inner self "Don't send me this crazy hunger. Tell me what you want me to know." Then quieten your mind, wait in the stillness and listen to your inner self.

  • I have bought a range of tea bags with exotic names like Gypsy Rose and Peach Ginger etc. I give a name to each kilo I'm losing and when it's gone then that's my Gypsie Rose kilo and I can use those tea bags for celebratory drinks while I'm working on the next kilo - which can take quite a while. I got my tea bags from the…
  • I think an important goal for you could be finding friends in the real world. That could fight off the boredom and loneliness that is driving you to binge eat. Also I find it's important to eat a satisfying amount of food. If you're always hungry you'll want to binge. I've forgotten how to add friends but you can include…
  • I've been having a crazy weekend where I've eaten everything foolish finishing with a 200 gram box of chocolates. Finally I got myself to do 15 minutes of meditation and I feel more calm. I hope I'll eat normally tomorrow but am not sure. I don't want to return to the crazy dark place of self destructive eating. I can't…
  • You're going through such a difficult patch but I can hear that you are committed to your health so that is good. Can you find a women's group to join to give you some friendship and support? Don't feel bad about your weight. So many of us are in the same situation. I think there are probably some people out there who…
  • Thanks for your perspective. I agree. Persistence and patience and keeping on returning to our goals. Those are keys.
  • My daughter continually loses weight each day by eating and exercising in moderation and by having a little full fat cheese before lunch and dinner to take away the raging hunger. I eat much more and I lose weight at the rate of about a kilo every 5 or 6 weeks. It's painfully slow but at least I'm going in the right…
  • Try thinking of your emotions like they are a horse that you're riding. Like a horse, emotions can carry you forward and that's good but if they get out of control they take you places you don't want to go. Talk to your feelings and say 'Steady there. Calm down.' Find a calm place inside yourself and use that calm to…
  • That sounds lovely. I wish you every happiness.
  • While you're waiting for inspiration, try this. As part of your daily food, include one apple, a slice of bread and a little butter and about 10 grams of full fat cheese. The apple will fill you and the cheese will make you feel more satisfied. Think of this as like a dieting pill. Meanwhile make small changes to your food…
  • Eating plenty of healthy nourishing food really reduces my cravings. When cakes and chocolate things appear at work, I take a photo of them and i text it to my daughter saying This is what I'm not eating today. She writes back You're a legend Mum and that encourages me to stay strong. At the moment at work we are maxing…
  • I think a useful thing would be to learn to draw faces or to take up gardening or ... anything that is fun and interesting and takes your mind off dieting. I often eat when I'm bored or lonely so doing social or creative things can be good for weight loss but also reduce the obsession with dieting.
  • It sounds like you are very brave and resilient to come through so much. Apply those qualities to to eating and exercising in a healthy way and you will be a winner.
  • Also it's not a good thing to drink too much water. Drink a comfortable amount. You can literally drown your organs and die. I'm trying to be kind to my body as well as healthy.
