When I started exercising after not doing so for many years, I could only do 5 minutes on the elliptical. I was so frustrated and embarrassed but the man on the machine next to me said "keep trying, don't give up" and that made all the difference to me. It took me 4 months to work up to 20 minutes. That was 15 years ago.…

Many people are shy about succeeding in losing weight and expressing that success. Just say thank you and don't elaborate if you don't feel comfortable doing so. Undoubtedly someone will ask how you did it, so just say "diet and exercise". Be proud of your accomplishment but don't think you need to open yourself up to…

Sounds like the start of an awesome day and possibly a new phase in your life! Congratulations!

Well I say Good Luck! Two months will certainly not hinder your overall health and if you have success, better for you! Keep us posted on your progress but don't get discouraged if your competitor pulls ahead. In the end, weight loss is a personal journey. Good for you to try something new to jazz up the process.

That is so terriffic! Congratulations!

Best advice I can give is, take a deep breath, and turn it around. Plan your next three days of meals for healthy, goal oriented delicious eating. You can do this.

I take Vitamin D and Flax seed oil. The Flax is for my dry eyes - Vitamin D for health. Both doc recommended.

Yup, slow loser here as well. I just keep on keeping on!

For Chinese, stick to stir fry with chicken or shrimp. Also many Chinese restaurants offer brown rice instead of white. For Mexican, try carnitas or fajitas without the tortilla. The other strategy is to plan to take half of whatever you order home for lunch the next day.

I didn't always log the binges but I do now. I think it is sobering to see the amount one indulges in - seems to help me keep in check more.

Yes to all the above but you also need to give yourself TIME to lose. It won't be as easy as when you were younger but it does happen. I've been on MFP for over a year and am still working on it. On the plus side, what is your alternative? To give up and stay miserable? Don't give up on yourself!

Nothing wrong that I can see...

Congratulations on your success! Good luck in the new year and keep on going.

I agree with the previous post regarding a gym. There are now many machines that can be used that focus the workout in the thighs and glutes and are easy on the knees. I have arthritis in my knees as well and with consistent exercise, don't suffer much pain. I do however, live in the southern part of the US so the cold is…

Try canned lentil soup, add 1/2 to 1 can of water and elbow or other small pasta. Cook until the pasta is done. It will likely need a little salt but it is very filling and satisfying.

If I can give you one piece of advice, don't fall into the trap of comparing your weight loss to anyone else's. I've been on MFP and working on losing weight for just over a year and I have lost about 25 lbs. so far. I am still losing but not at the rate others do. I have no intention of giving up on myself and your…

Love your story! By the way, when I started exercising 15 years ago, it took me 4 months to be able to do 20 minutes on the elliptical. Keep going - you're doing great!

You know, it is not a temporary change. It's continuous trial and error and everytime I think of giving up, I remind myself that would be giving up on me and that keeps me going. Don't give up on yourself just keep trying.

Good time to teach him how to cook scrambled eggs, grilled cheese, smoothies, etc.

Used to happen all the time to me on the elliptical. It no longer occurs on the strid machine I am now working out on. - sort of like a ski machine. I think it is due to the fact that the motion flexes my foot instead of staying flat.

Honestly, with your busy life, you just need to pick a time and just do it. There is no secret to starting but the secret to continuing is that you get hooked on it. Good luck!

I think the only "evidence" besides winning repeatedly, was eyewitness testimony and we all know how reliable that can be. I personally think he is telling the truth but doesn't want to keep up the fight. No blood/urine testing ever has proven he doped even though it has with other participants. Sad day for the sports…

you could bring hard boiled eggs, greek yogurt (high in protein), cheese - anything that has protein in it will be digested slower and make you feel satisfied longer.
-
I prefer multigrain pasta - not quite as heavy but I really think the problem is the brand. Try Hodgsen Mills - tastes much better.

I think this article is right on for what I have experienced. I've exercised for years regularly and still had weight issues. For almost a year I've been on MFP and my success has been mixed at best. When I go to the calculator, it seems to correlate exactly what I have experienced. I have no intention to stop exercising…
