I use a Polar Loop and a chest strap heart rate monitor and love it. With the hrm I can tell how many calories I burn during my workouts, which can be a bit surprising. A good, hard, strength-training workout can really burn calories!

I am currently loving the Polar Loop. I have both the wrist thing (the Loop) and a bluetooth HRM that goes with it. I like it because I wear the Loop all day and the HRM chest strap when exercising. I like the combination because I do alot of strength training and core which includes activity that is not picked up on the…

Walking at a brisk pace, arms swinging, will get your heart rate up. You don't ever need to run, however, I got to the point where I was walking as fast as I could without starting a slow jog, so I started a slow jog. Now I do 1 minute intervals of moderate walk, fast walk, jog, and repeat. You could also add some light…

Shauna - it can be frustrating, especially since we all are programmed to measure our success by the number on the scale. I do it too :( Take your measurements and take pictures of yourself - they can help you on your journey when the scale isn't! I have had weeks where I went over calories on some days and still managed…

On MFP, you won't be doing it alone! Sending you a friend request :flowerforyou:

You can do it! I was diagnosed in 1996, after the birth of my son. To top it off, for the last three years I have been gradually falling into peri-menopause and the hormones have been all over the place. But, I've managed to lose a little over 50 lbs in the last year. For me, eating less and exercising more has worked. It…

Hey Carmen - sending you a friend request :flowerforyou: You can do this!

Like nearly everyone else, I suggest you eat up to your calorie goal. You should also eat back your exercise calories. I am always careful about eating back those exercise calories because it is hard to be super accurate about how many calories you are burning during exercise. I know that the treadmill calorie count…

Hey Erica! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding :drinker: 20-30lbs in 2-3 months is an ambitious goal. Be careful! Using this website is a great start - be sure to log all of your calories and exercise. Friend me if you would like some support along the way!

Yep! Sending a friend request now....

Don't give up! I've done the thing where I lose 3lbs one week, gain 4, and then lose 5. Or, stay the same weight for nearly a month. Yep - it's frustrating, but hang in there. It will come off over time. Take your measurements and pictures of yourself, too. Don't rely on the scales alone!

Don't live in NZ, but going to visit the in-laws Sunday :) Good luck on your journey

Loved reading your story - thanks so much for sharing. Way to go :)

I don't have any of the conditions that you mentioned, but I was pretty huge :( My goal is to try to avoid the joint/back issues that my mom has, partly due to a sedentary lifestyle and and partly due to arthritis that was complicated by that lack of activity. Try water aerobics, or even just walking in the water. It is…

Stupid chocolate covered pretzels! Wish I had never tried them

I only rarely have insomnia now, but it used to get bad. Wanna know something to drive you crazy? My hubby wears a FitBit and monitors his sleep cycles...it takes him about 2 or 3 minutes to get to sleep! I don't think he believed me when I said that he is asleep the minute hits the pillow, and I guess he is technically…

Go for it - you earned it! Nice job on the loss :drinker:

Do you have access to a pool - aqua aerobics is a great way to get in a workout. I also do water walking on my own -not on top of the water :) Good luck!

Stupid neighbor - sometimes people don't realize how hurtful their words can be. Forget what he said and do this for you! You can do it  Sending you a friend request -

Love my FT7! I use it to monitor my heart rate and log the calories burned on MFP. If I'm concerned about over/underestimating calories burned, I double check on the caloriesperhour.com website. I also use mine for water aerobics, and it is a bit unreliable as far as picking up my heart beat. Good luck!

Way to go on turning down the treat! We'll call that a non-scale victory - sometimes things like that are what keep me going :) Please feel free to add me! Good luck on your journey

Wow! You look really great. Way to go

AWESOME! Wish I had done this when I started. Your progress is inspiring :)

Yep - add me if you want :)

Have to laugh about this thread....I tried the stair mill and I was so bad at it that the trainer actually laughed. Somehow, I just couldn't crack it. Felt like a total klutz. So, for me the elliptical would be a better burn. But I don't use that either - I'm using the treadmill or rowing machine, at least I can actually…
