  • Maybe print out a funny meme mocking his accomplishments. As I always say, "Nothing is too harsh if it's funny."
  • Agree with above. Good shoes and inserts can make a big difference. I also wore compression socks for a time and that seemed to help as well. The best thing I found was a "toe raise" exercise that I do during warm up. It helped me alot. Here's an article I found on dealing with shin splints.…
  • What can I say? This is where the U.S. Air Force deposited me. Ended up staying here after retirement. Still have family up there though. How 'bout them Packers?
  • DVS: Yeah, back in high school. And the demo derby at the County Fair. You been there?
  • Don't cha know Shopko and Fleet Farm are the best places to shop "up dare in Wisconsin"?
  • DVS: Yeah, back in high school. And the demo derby at the County Fair. You been there?
  • You taking a run over to Shopko or Fleet Farm?...don't cha know. (Sorry, I grew up near Seymour, the Wisconsin talk brought out my accent).
  • Drink whatever you like...but in moderation, of course...yeah, right!! The calorieking website below has a whole list of different drinks and their calorie count. When I started my journey, I actually asked a bartender a few questions to help me decide. What I learned is that most alcohols are pretty close in…

  • Here's a recipe similar to PF Chang's Lettuce Wraps. It works better with iceberg lettuce but romaine would work. They are delicious. http://www.food.com/recipe/p-f-changs-chicken-lettuce-wraps-15865?layout=desktop Ingredients Calories Carbs Fat Protein C & H - Dark Brown Cane Sugar (for Baking), 0.5 Cup 360 96 0 0 Tyson -…
  • For at home workouts, I use the free YouTube videos from HasFit.com and BeFit.com (I'm sure there are a ton of others too). They have everything from cardio, strength training, yoga, boxing, etc. And all they use is your body weight and perhaps some small weights for extra resistance. It's a good full-body workout that…
  • Agreed. Opinions on MFP will vary. I say do what works for you. When I started ~18 mo ago, I set my calorie goal to 1200 cal/day (2lb loss per week). When I first did it, I thought there was no way I could live on only 1200 calories/day. But once I started making smarter food choices (more filling fiber and protein, fewer…
  • HASFit.com has some free "at your desk" workout videos. I haven't tried them but they are designed for the office and low-intensity so you don't get all sweaty.

  • I think I would have replied, "...or maybe 2 people on their way to feed a Boyscout troop or church youth group. #nodouchebags". ...and then DELETE them.

  • Love the Lambeau Field banner. I grew up near Seymour (just west of GB). Siblings still all in that area. Now live near St Louis but am still a huge Packers fan...along with my family who are big fans even though they've never lived in WI.
  • Like the banner. GO PACK!

  • Bumping for reference. Thanks for the thread.
  • I drink a diet soda every now and then...typically mixed with Jack Daniels. Figure that will kill me faster than the diet soda. If you have a hard time with water, try mixing in a little Mio flavoring. It, too, may not be very good for me but it is tasty and helps me reach my water intake goal.
  • Right or wrong, what I read was that over 25% BMI is considered "overweight". So according to that, I've been "overweight" since I was about 16 years old. I'm 5'7" so I need to get below 160lbs to be <25% BMI according to the charts on the web. I chose 155lbs just for good measure. I'm currently at 163lbs closing in on…

  • Well said and well done. Keep it up!
  • Great info. Thanks!! I put these into practice.
  • I agree with everyone else. Especially the part about asking for a tour. Any good gym would be happy to do that. Also, remember that once you step in that gym, you've already done the hard part...you've made a choice to make a change. DO NOT feel nervous at the gym. You'll see people of all shapes and sizes. And there are…
  • Simply phenomenal!! Keep it up!
  • I, too, stuggled with calling myself a "runner". As I built up to 5K, I would walk for a couple of minutes in the middle so I felt I was coming up short. However, then I read a quote..."I run, that makes me a runner". So, no matter how fast you go, it is still 5K...and YES, that makes you a RUNNER! Way to go!
