If you want to look fit you need to lift weights. Not BS like with the 2 lb dumbbells though. Squats, deadlifts, bench, and whatever accessory lifts work for you. I recommend pullups and rows of some kind. If you push yourself with those exercises trust me, you won't just be bored counting reps in the mirror.

As others have mentioned, net calories factors in exercise. What I'd like to add is that this is can be a bit problematic for a few reasons: * It overly complicates these things. Sticking to a solid diet and exercise is hard enough already. Adding and subtracting calories as you go makes it that much harder. * As long as…

WHY ARE WE YELLING!

Very successful trolling, yes.

I feel like every one of these threads is just an attempt at trolling. Saying something like "clean eating" or "clean food" is akin to dipping a piece of meat into a river filled with piranha.

I got a Fitbit Surge, which has a HR monitor. Every single day it overestimated my calories burned by 1000-1500, usually closer to 1500. For reference, I'm a 29 year old male at 5'7", and I have the data to show that my BMR is 1600 calories, and my TDEE is usually around 2100 given the exercise I do. If I eat 1600 calories…

You sound like you're looking for just about any reason to quit. If you don't want to do it, then don't. If you do, then just don't worry about the last few days. The point is if you're compliant with your calorie goal or not, and the site is a tool to help you do that. Just move forward and log from now on.

I want your total assets (liquid and otherwise) in my possession, legally.

I don't think diet and exercise tips are what you need. I am sensing some sort of emotional issue here, and no one here is equipped to help with that. I recommend you see a therapist to help address why you are thinking and feeling the way you are. When the time comes, know that you don't need exercise to lose weight. Your…

Trainers hate me too.

That calories in, calories out is all there is to weight loss. I don't consider calories at all and I've lost a great deal of weight. It required a few weird tricks, but now I'm as thin as I've ever been, and doctors hate me.

It's possible to do too much of anything. You can sleep too much, drink too much water, and likely walk too much. But you're probably not there. A few hours of walking a day is fine (unless there's pain, in which case consult a medical professional). You'd probably have to be walking for 10 hours a day before it became a…

Nutrient timing does have its place, but that's advanced territory, and the type of thing that bodybuilders consider. It comes after your calories, macronutrients, and micronutrients are all finely tuned. Someone with a lot of weight to lose need not put effort into this area. That goes for supplements too. Nutrient timing…

I think everybody's missing the point. These shakes are so good they're worth ruining solid friendships over. What are they and where can I get some?

MFP forum posts that have nothing to do with fitness or nutrition. I just don't get it, and I need to know one thing: Would you kiss the person above?

I see you're getting a lot of potassium, which typically comes from nutrient dense foods like vegetables and sweet potato. If you're already eating a lot of vegetables there should be no need for vitamin supplementation. It's controversial whether or not multivitamins are even good for you. From what I've gathered, the…

The problem appears to be that you're under six inches tall, but you weigh 152 pounds. I suggest cutting down to about half a pound or so, which would be more in line with your diminutive stature.

They say persistence is key but I haven't found that to be true on this stupid dating site.

Yes. When you watch the Olympics or professional sports and so on, you're looking at athletes who have mastered the art of reaching 10,000 steps per day. If you think about it, you can't run around the soccer field or swing around the uneven bars without your legs, and you need your legs to walk, so it makes perfect sense…

No, because I have my preferences and heavy women aren't included. Most women prefer dating men who are within a certain height range. It's much like that, but weight related rather than height related.

Lifting weights doesn't burn all that many calories. I don't adjust for it. My semi-educated guess for myself, though, is that it burns about 200 calories per hour. Instead of focusing on that, I recommend you look at it this way: If a calorie deficit is what you want, eating fewer calories is easiest (this is where MFP…

The classical notions of the somatotype have been debunked, but people do have genetic differences when it comes to skeletal structure, appetite, metabolism, where they store fat, what percentage of growth is muscle, etc. These genetic differences manifest themselves such that some people have a harder/easier time losing…

Then how can I engage in a meaningful discussion on electrons?

I'll translate for those confused: If a person you're attracted to doesn't text you voluntarily, and only replies when you initiate a conversation with a text, is there any chance this person is interested in you, and thinking about you? Or, is this person not interested?

* Calories too low. Find your TDEE on a site that specialized as a TDEE calculator, and subtract 20% * Focus on strength training. Get the book Starting Strength 3rd Edition * Eat 1g of protein per pound of fat-free (lean) body mass * Get protein from chicken most of the time. Vary it when you want to and when you can…

As long as you understand that this is simply your (indirect) method of reducing calories, and carbohydrates aren't solely to blame for weight gain, then do whatever you want. It's prudent to recognize, though, that carbohydrates aren't really optional for the body. We need them just like we need fat and protein for normal…

My guess is a digital scale that aims to measure body composition. That would explain the situation pretty well.
