  • Curious why you say this?
  • I don't know what brand I use but they were purchased at Sports Authority. i assume they are just basic ones with a little bit of padding in the palms. When I started lifting and didn't have gloves, my hands got such bad calluses and looked like a man's hands who does rugged outdoor work. I'm not a man. Quite frankly, I'm…
  • No shame in processed food, IMO. More sodium, but not everyone is sensitive to that. I'm not sure if you are. When I lost 100+ lbs I imagine 80% of my diet was processed foods. If you are eating prepackaged things more then I probably wouldn't weigh it either (though some may disagree - I refuse to open a new package of…
  • The point of the post, if I'm not mistaken, is to try to alter your diet. You need to track, weigh, and measure appropriately to really know exactly how much you are eating. I go to the gym 6 days a week. I run 6 days a week and lift three of those days. The days where I do both I split it up so I have time for 45-60…
  • So weigh the food you take to work with you. I'm not home much, either. Every night before I go to bed I weigh and measure everything I'm going to eat from the time I leave until the time I get home that evening. Before dinner, I do the same thing when I sit down to eat. Today, I have to eat dinner on my way home from…
  • OMG I LOVE canned spaghetti. It tastes nothing like spaghetti but it's so freaking delicious!
  • There are definitely a ton of options for you here, but here's what I've noticed over years of running. It doesn't matter if I'm breathing in or out of my mouth or nose. The only thing that matters is that I take equal breaths in as I do out. If I take consistently short breaths in and long breaths out, I get a side…
  • I lost about 110 lbs through running over the course of a year and managed to keep it off by running. However, while I had some muscle, it was nearly what I wanted. I now run 6 days a week and lift 3 days a week and find that I have better results from teh lifting than i do from running. I will always love running and will…
  • I stopped telling people my goals - whether it's related to food or fitness. Mostly, then, beacuse then I hear about how little I should eat when i'm 5'10", 180 lbs and I work out hard 6 days a week...... sorry 1300 calories a day is not my friend It's not their life, it's yours. Screw them :)
  • Why not pre-set your meals on Saturdays and Sundays as well? I give myself one meal - Saturday or Sunday dinner - in which I don't plan and don't log as it is a social setting and I really don't give a rat's butt. Those days, however, I also spend more time at the gym and generally sit very little so I am burning more…
  • I really just wonder what kind of perfum kazik would have preferred
  • Actually, no because you didn't mention that you did. We can only go off the information that you provided. Nobody is mocking you. Far from it, actually. Everyone wants you to be able to be taken care of and healthy. Gyn issues are a huge deal - that's why the thread got off topic. It's more important to take care of…
  • I have never skipped a workout due to this. I've had to stop midworkout due to severe pain and not move for a minute, then start back up slowly. I also had a pretty serious condition that I had to have taken care of, though. I know everyone is different. As for your underlying cause - you need to stop making excuses and…
  • I'm also obsessed but I have a very high-strung obsessive personality so it makes sense I'm this way with fitness/diet as well. However, while I see results this way and am in pretty good shape, you ahve to make sure you find the balance. For example, I get worked up on days I don't work out - this includes scheduled off…
  • I count the number of steps I take everywhere. Like I'll count up to 16 or 20 or some random number and then start again. Gets really annoying running a marathon wondering how many times I counted up to x number throughout the race and got irritated when someone interrupted my counting. "Sorry runner I can't say hi because…
  • That's so cool! Congratulations and amazing job!
  • People used to not be as kind to me when i was fat. Some people would stare at me or make fun of me. People also like to stare at me and my daughter who is biracial and try to figure it out. People also like to stare at me and my husband who is 15 years older and try to figure it out. We're both white. When he, my daughter…
  • I did not have to buy my wedding dress too much bigger than my actual pants size, but bridesmaids dresses are another story. I do have a wider build and broad shoulders but I am 5 lbs overweight. If I could figure out the damn picture thing on this site, I'd update a picture where you can see I'm a relatively normal size.…
  • I've been running for a few years and when I run 15+ miles or do longer distance speed work I have no appetite at all. I have to force myself to eat within an hour of the workout to help rebuild/repair and prevent soreness. When I lift, I notice I am extremely hungry those days most of the time but I'm still newer to…
  • Take this how you want. I'm not going to even try to go into the million things that I disagree with here. Yes, I prefer a thin body which is why I worked my *kitten* off to lose 110 pounds and workout religiously. Of course exercise is a personal choice and nobody claimed otherwise. I have no idea how anyone read sooooo…
  • So i assume you also had the same comments on the blog post that was shared, respected, and admired on MFP not more than two weeks ago regarding the reverence a bystander or fellow runner had for an overweight person running on the track? It's not a superiority complex - it's a motivating thought for some. It's not harmful…
  • Did anyone read the original post? BECAUSE NOWHERE in it did OP mention anything about going up and giving someone a freaking pat on the back. It was a thought.
  • Maybe I'm missing something but how is this really different than the posts and blogs that were shared only like 2 weeks ago on MFP about a fat person running around a track and about the person observing them and applauding them for their efforts, because they know how hard that is? Physically, it is harder for people…
  • Usually nothing. But if it's a mid-range mile speed workout run or a run over 15 miles, I like to give myself a beer....even if I finish at 11am :)
  • I'll add that even though I kept the weight off, there's a reason I'm back on this site. I love cardio and am planning a few long distance races this year. I don't love my body. it's still too jiggly that cardio won't do. So while you can lose weight by doing cardio only (just like you can doing any activity that creates a…
  • I lost 110 lbs through mostly treadmill and some elliptical. I didn't count calories but I ate smaller portions and made the small substitutions every time i ate - i.e. no mayo, salad with ff or no dressing instead of fries, etc. I ate less and burned more.
  • There are some freaking amazing looking women on these threads and you need to listen to them and be patient. When I look at their pictures and realize sometimes the patience we need to see results from lifting it puts it into perspective. My stomach is by far my worst area. Hands down. In fact, I'm perfectly fine with the…
  • I generally have a very high stress level which causes me to have anxiety. These cause me to lose sleep. The only thing I've found, aside from being ridiculously efficient every day, is that exercise helps stress and anxiety tremendously which helps my sleep. I also stress myself when I think about stress - i can be very…
