  • Don't waste 2 weeks. Cereal does not provide the nutrients you require, even if you can get under your calories. I don't mean to sound rude, but dieting does not work! You need to make lifestyle changes to change your life! Wholefoods, vegetables, fruit and whole grains with bits of other food types is BY FAR the most…
  • If you have one, wear a heart rate monitor for an average day to work out roughly what you burn. Or just do the work hours. Remembering that some calories are burned in a day just maintaining bodily functions. It could be right for 3000 a day, but I'd be very surprised. I run half marathons and burn about 1200 cal in a bit…
  • And that post is gone now too!
  • Sadly its the dark side of humans - the need to degrade others. Who knows why because there is nothing gained. Try not to let it get to you. As stated above, their eating habits will be their own undoing. Use it for motivation, dont let it dampen your resolve!
  • Almost forgot my latest addiction: Chopped banana with ABC spread (Almond Brazil and Cashew nut spread) Its pretty amazing.
  • I almost always have leftovers from the night before so curries, stirfies, salads, soups and all sorts. I guess it depends what you like. My favorite quick work lunches involve: 1 - A curry dish - brown rice with lentils/beans etc curry powder and a little non dairy milk and a chopped tomato (and onion if i feel like it).…
  • II dont mean to come across as anything other than a general discussion but i found becoming vegan a rather simple process. Sure you end up accidentally eating the odd item that contains some random animal product but actually deciding to go vegan and going from a heavy meat consumer to vegan within a few days was probably…
  • If anyone wants food ideas i run an instagram feed for vegan foods. Username = danbi1
  • Since my last post ive tried a new type of shake - i used to recommend the nitrofusion protein but ive found that the sun-warrior brand (chocolate) is much more pleasant and raw vegan too :)
  • My favorites: "Where do you get your protein?" (Everyone becomes a protein expert once you tell them youre vegan). "Where do you get your _____ from?" <insert any vitamin or mineral here> "How do you have so much energy?" "What do you eat?" "You cant have bread/water/<insert any random food here> can you?" - im not sure…
  • I made an Ethiopian style red/green lentil curry with brown rice. I have to share this recipe as i thought it was pretty good. I stole this recipe off the net and added pumpkin and fresh tomatoes to it. Mesir Wat – Ethiopian Red Lentil Puree Adapted from whats4eats Serves 4 with leftovers 2 cups red lentils, picked over…
  • Sometimes if you have songs that have been downloaded this can happen but i used the app with no issues. Were you using a playlist through the app or just the music player on your phone? If its not the app one then i think it struggles to control the music. Also - try a different playlist next time. I just started using…
  • I started by just going out and jogging as far as i could. I did a KM or so. Without a structured program i started with this approach: First week 1 - Run for 3mins, walk 2 mins (repeat 6 times). do this every second day for a week The next week 2 - Run 3 mins, walk 1 min (repeat 6 times). Subsequent weeks keep adding more…
  • Another vegan here! Always happy to receive more vegan friend requests (just send me a message with the request)) :)
  • Depending on where the pain is you can make things much worse. See a medical professional, get it checked and work around what you can/cant do. I ran on mine through pain and missed 3 months last year. Just be careful and listen to your body.
  • I take a multivitamin (Deva), Vegan Omega 3 supplements and i use Nitrofusion protein on my training days to get a bit of extra protein :) Is there something you were specifically concerned about?
  • From what you've said i think you need to understand why youre doing it and be happy with your decision. If youre happy then other people need to deal with it. I understand why your husband feels like it affects him (i've had the same experience with my partner) but you just need to make it as 'painless' as possible for…
  • I like to have 1/2 cup oats with ground cinnamon or another spice (make it with water and add milk at the end if you want to keep calories down), have a banana and add some psyllium fiber if you don't find it filling enough,
  • Oats! Find a microwavable soup mug fill it with oats (and whatever you want in it - berries/fruits, nut butter etc), microwave as you walk out the door and he can eat it in the car :)
  • I have read alot of when/how to fuel. First thing in the morning, if your workout is under 40 mins, you dont need to eat before (unless its really high intensity). Just have a carby and protein based snack after (i usually have a banana and a protein shake within 30-45mins but the sooner the better). You should aim for…

  • I agree with you here. 'Special sauce' usually translates into salt with fat with sugar. I stick with soy, chilli, basil based sauces but you need to just note that soy sauce is high in sodium/salt if you track and monitor salt intake (which is a good idea). For drinks, stick with a FRESH juice, green tea or water.
  • Give white meat dishes (chicken/fish) or vegetable/tofu dishes a go. Most people are surprised by Tofu, its as high in protein as many meats, low fat and a better calorie/protein ratio than many meats. Give it a go, Tofu is horrid if it isnt cooked right, but in stirfries etc its great. I often get vegetable stirfries and…
  • Happy to assist where possible. It's certainly possible to be Vegan and be active and healthy, just need to ensure you eat a varied diet of good nutrient sources. Whole foods are best and i feel 1000% better since becoming vegan. Happy to have more vegan MFP friends. All the best.
  • I'm happy to be a buddy if anyone needs a hand with vegan recipes etc. I try and complete my log most days so it should also provide you with some ideas and stuff should you require it. -Dani.
  • I was iron deficient but not anemic prior to becoming vegan. Even with iron supplements i was never able to maintain healthy iron levels. Now my iron levels are within normal ranges from a vegan diet (including my daily Deva multivitamin). I'm not saying that becoming vegan will fix your iron levels because everyone is…
  • reducing or eliminating all possible carbs like some 'fitness/diet plans' will likely 'kickstart' weight loss. Its not a particually healthy way of doing it (you need carbs to operate) and as soon as you recommence carb intake you put the weight back on. My advice is choose quality carbs (eg swap white rice for brown rice)…
  • I'm always happy to have more vegan MFP friends - request sent :)
  • I almost always intake the carbs immediately after i finish and the protein shake or protein based intake within 30 mins.
  • I always try and have something carby (like dried fruit) immediately after excersise and then a protein shake. I've read that this helps to stop your body burning the incoming protein for fuel and allows it to be used for muscle build/repair more effectively.
