  • I had never heard of a grunt before...I adapted a recipe I found. Its essentially biscuits/dumplings baked swimming in a blueberry filling. Makes a single serving, but could easily be doubled or tripled. If you omit the tablespoon of sugar, this is 260 calories. It takes about 15 minutes of prep and 20 of baking. A good…
  • sounds good guys, thanks. that 48 hours window thing makes a lot sense. So maybe instead of thinking of it as 1200 net cals a day, I could think of it as 2400 calories for every two days. and willem you are totally right about this not being about "rewards." It just helps me to not feel bad about myself when I can't help…
  • I usually have between 50-150 calories left uneaten at the end of the day. Does that make it ok to be a couple hundred calories over once or twice a week? In theory, it averages out, right?
  • haha yeah a few choc chips would NEVER work for me... i think i could eat like half a cup, if i didn't stop myself... In winter I like something warm so i have: Tea with milk has few calories, and the dairy makes it a little more satiating for me atleast. Oatmeal I find is a good option too, because it is SO FILLING. Don't…
  • I eat until about 3 hours before I go to bed...which for me is about 1 or 2 am. So I usually have a snack or dessert type item around 9-11. I know thats late, but since my sleep schedule is late, I think that makes sense.
  • thats a liquid oz though, right? is that different than a weight ounce? Edit: I just googled it. Fluid ounces are not interchangeable with an ounce of weight.
  • You shouldn't be so worried about your weight for tomorrow morning. Its your overall health you should be concerned with, probably not your weight at a specific singular time. If you eat/exercise healthily, your overall weight should be going down anyway. That being said, I really like oatmeal for late night random hunger.…
  • I have the same problem. I just try to estimate, and not worry about it too much. I'm probably way off on my calories every now and then, but....hopefully it evens out. I did look at an Appetite Awareness Training method, that focuses on eating when you are hungry and stopping when you're full (sounds obvious, right?) but…
  • Definitely every 3. If you wait six hours and are really hungry, you're more likely to overeat. If you pack yourself small preportioned snacks, then hopefully you will not overeat when eating every 3-4 hours either. there's all kinds of stuff you can pack and bring with you. i like fruit, instant oatmeal like someone…
  • I did that too. Its split into 3 hour chunks that sort of relate to my daily schedule, since I don't really eat regular mealtimes. i think it helps me space out my eating.
  • well i had a really late breakfast, at about 11:00 so thats basically going to be my lunch...i had peanut butter french toast made with two slices of bread, an egg, milk and a tablespoon of peanut butter. yummmmm
  • If you have a pretty good grasp on how many cals are in things, you could just write down or mentally estimate...other than that, what i would do is try to focus on portion size and not eating if i'm not hungry. that way the amount you are eating will still be controlled, even if your calories aren't. finally, i wouldn't…
  • i watch TV laying down on my side with a blanket over me. in this position it would be incredible awkward to eat, plus the blanket makes me not want to get up to go get food.
  • well i had about 230 calories for breakfast (toast, 2 eggs), 300 for dinner (soup, green beans, bread), and about 170 calories of fruit between lunch and dinner...which bring me to 800 calories... I stay up really late though, and i'm on the west coast so it's only 8:30...400 more calories should be no problem. I have some…
  • baked goods. I love them...cookies, scones, breads, muffins....oh goodness.... also, whole milk lattes. whole milk just makes it delicious, and i only get 8 or 12 oz drinks anyway, so atleast they are small.
  • I had some trader joe's herb salad mix, with cucumber and onion, olive oil + balsamic. A little hummus on the side, plus extra cucumber slices for dipping in the hummus. just over 100 calories, with the majority coming from the olive oil and hummus. so i'm probably going to find some sort of tasty afternoon snack soon,…
  • Here's what I ate one day last week. It was about 1250 calories, but I'm not sure exactly how many cals were in the sandwich or the curry I made. BREAKFAST: Blueberries + Lowfat Greek Yogurt Coffee + A splash of soymilk + honey LUNCH: chicken sandwich on foccaccia (don't know the exact calories because i ate out, but if my…
  • I thought that because the crust was thinner the pizza would have less calories...but I got home and (at Papa John's anyway) thin crust pizza has just as many, or MORE calories than original crust pizza! So I basically ate about 1050 calories for lunch...great...
  • although i don't know anything for sure, i'm guessing you could get a pretty good idea just by reading the ingredient descriptions. i would assume that the simpler rolls are better for you. You know, with just fish, veggies, etc. Fish by itself if pretty healthy. The problem is when it is drowned in sauces and mayo. Most…

  • Today I had about half a cup of unsweetened applesauce, about 3/4 cup 2% fat plain greek yogurt, and a large banana. Not bad, hopefully it will hold me over until 11 or so.
  • OK thanks guys. it sounds like I'm probably fine to drink a lot of tea. It definitely beats a lot of other things I could be eating or drinking...although it makes me have to go to the bathroom a lot when I drink so much liquids! I brew it myself or at a cafe - no bottled stuff. Sometimes I add soymilk and honey. The…
  • Is six or seven cups of tea in one day too many? I don't think its really possible to drink too much tea, I mean its just water. It just feels kind of ridiculous.
  • ahhhhh whenever i try to have a small amount of something, i just end up eating lots of random stuff. its kinda all or nothing for me.
  • hummus and cucumber. All day I have been eating and eating. I don't know why, i'm just in binge mood today. But now I switched from cereal and oatmeal and rice and other high calorie stuff to hummus and cucumber! the cucumber is sliced thin, so its awesome and crunchy, its like having chips and dip practically. i could eat…
  • yeah i make my cocoa with half water and half milk...doesn't bother me, i've been doing it with mostly water for years.
  • I'm finding ranges from 150 to over 300 calories when i search for a whole medium sized avocado in the database. Anyone know the true calorie count? thanks!
  • I've been eating english muffin sandwiches or using rolls. They are about 120 cals, but if I use sliced bread I use two slices so it is like 200+ cals.
  • wait whats wrong with sweet potatoes?? as for the squash, so if i bake it it will be soft enough to scoop out?
  • i wouldn't worry about it too much. i mean, if it were me i wouldn't have been able to stop at a quarter cup of ice cream...
  • snap peas are amazing. eat them raw so they are nice and crunchy. you can't eat them too fast and you can eat a lot and barely have any calories. i guess they taste a little like grass (i don't mind) but you could get some kind of dip if you wanted. personally i like them by themselves.
