I heartily second the advise given by @adamchalmers!! I have Hashimoto's also and his suggestion is the exact path that I followed 2 years ago. I'm gluten and dairy free now (and exercise religiously). I'm currently not on meds, although I still go to an endocrinologist every 6 months to have levels checked. The biggest…

This is one of my absolute favorites: http://paleomg.com/paleo-creamy-chicken-chili/. I add more veggies (e.g., zucchini, cabbage, and whatever else I have in the fridge) and more stock to make it soupier (is that a word?) than an chili.

The first 2-3 days of taking my B12 supplement, I also felt dizzy. It did go away after that.

You guys have mentioned all of my favorite gadgets already...except for my handheld citrus squeezer. I use that thing virtually every day and it's a life saver. Plus, it's vital when you need to make margaritas!

I also love it grilled...or made into zoodles (zucchini noodles) to top with whatever sauce is your favorite. Lots of recipes online for how to make 'em.

I get lots of compliments on my guac recipe. Avocado, plenty of lime juice, cilantro, grated onion (I use a microplane grater so you get a mild onion flavor without the strong punch from biting into a chunk of onion), salt, cumin (not too much), dried cayenne. I also love to mix in halved or quartered grape tomatoes…

You might consider looking into a very high quality krill oil supplement. This is the one I've been taking and I've seen a marked improvement (as has my sister): http://www.getprograde.com/essential-fatty-acid.html

Here's my personal experience.... I have auto-immune thyroid disease and got absolutely zero help from my GP and endocrinologist on how to reduce my autoimmune response. I sought out specialist in Chinese medicine/holistic treatment/integrative medicine. I had an IGg ELISA food allergen panel run and eliminated those foods…

Cedar's garlic lovers hummus. Omg, so good! Bulk food area - dried fruit, lentils, dates, etc. If you eat organic, I can actually find some things cheaper at WF than my local Publix (org frozen berries, org chicken broth, raw nuts) The chocolate aisle - so much good dark chocolate
-
Like others, I go for a nice dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher). Alternatively, this chocolate sorbet recipe is divine and much lower in cals than a choc ice cream. Hint: you need to use a good cocoa powder. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/chocolate-sorbet-recipe.html

I have a friend that freezes his milk into ice cubes first, which he then adds to his shake. He says it doesn't get as "watery" since the slushy part is milk. It might be worth a try :)

Hi. I have an auto-immune hypothyroid disorder. My sister has IBS. We both cut out gluten and dairy. She's feeling immensely better and my antibodies have gone down dramatically (fyi...we both had food allergy tests done and came back positive for glutent and dairy). You'll need at least a good 3 months to really feel the…

I can't have wheat, so sometimes I make brown rice pasta or corn based pasta (like GF barilla); however, those aren't low cal. For low cal, I LOOOOOOVE me some zucchini noodles. They're great with sautéed garlic and red pepper flakes. They also take cream sauces well. My favorite way to eat them is with a truffle cashew…

GRILLED (or oven roasted) with olive oil, salt, pepper. Simple, easy, and insanely delicious!!!

I'm a little shy in social situations where I don't know anyone. Last year, I wanted to try a challenging type of group exercise but I had some anxiety about the first workout. I just forced myself to smile a lot when I showed up. By the end of the first class, I'd already made friends. You just have to bite the bullet :)…

I have auto-immune hypothyroid (Hashimoto's), the most common hypothyroid issue. For some odd reason, getting diagnosis and treatment for thyroid disorders can be very difficult in our medical system. Many, many people have been frustrated by this. I second the opinion to see an Endocrinologist or OB/GYN (request a thyroid…

I throw cubed sweet potatoes in a Ziploc with salt, a bunch of different spices from my spice cupboard, throw in some olive oil, and toss the bag around. Dump onto a baking sheet and roast them until tender and starting to brown. Kinda similar to this recipe (except I don't add any sugar):…

Hi! I've been gluten free for a little over a year. I'm not celiac but I have another autoimmune disease and my doc recommended that I avoid gluten. I find it's just easier to eat a mostly unprocessed diet...fewer worries and hidden ingredients. Also, a lot of GF replacement foods are expensive and very processed). That…

I also got it for Xmas! It is hysterically written. Haven't had a chance to make any recipes yet, but I'm really excited about some of them.

I have the Nesco FD-60 Snackmaster (http://www.amazon.com/Nesco-FD-60-Snackmaster-Express-Dehydrator/dp/B000LNVUJQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1415053035&sr=8-2&keywords=nesco+dehydrator). I works really well. I store it in a spare bedroom b/c it takes up too much counter space. I love having the adjustable temp control. I…

Hashimoto's here! Feel free to add me. We also have a group called "Butterfly Chasers" with lots of helpful info and support :)

We have a "Butterfly Chasers" group for auto-immune hypothyroid (Hashimoto's), which is likely the cause of your hypothyroid condition (testing will be able to tell you). You can find lots of helpful info (experiences with mineral supplements, diet, etc.) in that group and support for any frustration you may be going…

I've been dairy (and gluten) free for about a year. There is a difficult 3 month transition period where you have to adjust, but I promise you will get used to it. There are a million dairy-free blogs out there with recipes...just do a google search for "dairy free recipes". Paleo recipes are also dairy-free and there are…

Hi! 5'1" here. Highest weight 139, currently at 135. Trying to get below 130 (into healthy BMI), which is really tough with my autoimmune thyroid condition. More than happy to have other shorties in my friends list, so feel free to add me :)

They won't have the same texture as pasta, but I really love them. Zucchini is so mild that it'll take on whatever flavor you're topping it with. Buy a julienne peeler or spiralizer for noodle consistency. I pan sautee them and then toss with my favorite sauce. I especially love them with my dairy-free version of alfredo…

Check out those quads! Yowza! Amazing job! :drinker:

Also a marine biologist, though I finished my Master's last year (coral disease and microbiology). I work in consulting now. Feel free to add me!

I'm also 5'1" (currently at 138) and I'm aiming for around a 10 pound loss. I eat a gluten-free, dairy-free diet (haven't ditched caffeine, though) and do 4-5 high intensity workouts per week. I aim to net 1300 calories per day, although on Sundays I usually eat around 1600 calories. I have an endocrinologist and I see a…
