  • Hi everyone, I'm from Washington State as well, and have to say that I have been a die hard Seahawk fan since they became a football team! I am 49 - 50 in 7 months - do I still count? I need help and motivation. I've fallen off the wagon so to speak, need to lose about 10 lbs. Been lazy, haven't been logging my foods -…
  • I know it's late, but I would like to try to lose 10lbs by April 1st! I'm in!
  • I used to have horrible bloating and gas pains. Tried Kefir - blueberry or raspberry are my favorites! Haven't been bloated since drinking it! Love it, drink it every day. Put it in my green smoothies. Great way to get probiotics in and no more tummy problems!
  • I'm in the same boat. Did great for a while, lost 26lbs, then got lazy. Trying to get back on board. Need motivation and accountability. That's what helped me the first time. Feel free to add me. You can never have too many friends!
  • I have found that I cannot eat anything with Inulin / chicory root. It is in a lot of "diet foods". When I do, I get so bloated that I look 9 months pregnant. Lots of pain due to the bloating. That and soy. Check and see if chicory root or inulin is in any of the foods that you eat. It's in a lot of yogurts, ( Activa…
  • Great idea! I pray throughout each and every day. Big part of my life and who I am. Strange that I haven't thought about prayer before exercise. Well, it starts now, thank you! I don't understand why people have to comment if they don't like something. Just move on. Why call people out if their beliefs don't fit yours?…
  • What an odd post and to just leave it at that. Does that mean you are a nurse and you hate it? Or do you hate nurses? If you are a nurse and you hate your job, either find another area of nursing and give it a go, or leave the profession. I have been a nurse for quite a while. Have worked with nurses who appear to hate…

  • I had to make it easy for myself or I knew I would never stick with it. I only count calories. I don't really pay attention to the fat, sugar, carbs, protein as much as I should. I will get there. I always try and have a deficit. If only by a few calories, I'm happy. It's been pretty easy going for me as long as I log…
  • I started myfitnesspal 3 or 4 times before I actually stuck with it. I'm not to the maintenance part yet, but almost, in a few more pounds. Some days I log better than others, but I'm trying to be consistent again. Glad you came back. You can do it again1

  • Don't give up. Nursing is a wonderful profession. I have been a nurse for only 17 years and have never regretted that decision. Get some feedback from the instructor on how/why you did poorly. They should have some study groups - at least when I was in Nursing School we had small groups going. Ask help from your fellow…
  • Been feeling unmotivated for the past week. I am so glad I found this, thank you!
  • Grats! Every success we need to embrace. One day at a time, do what you can and keep moving in the right direction. We all get setbacks on the way, but as long as we keep moving forward towards our goal, that is all that's important.
  • I used to do diets where I had to fast, never worked for me. I have been logging continually now since August, without any type of a "diet" or fasting and weighing myself once a week. This has worked for me, so I don't think you can go by what other people do, but what feels right for you and what it will take to keep you…
  • I wish you all the luck in your goals. I tried to diet so many times over the years just to fall short and think, well, my hubby loves me the way I am. I would keep telling myself that as to justify my poor eating habits. That all changed in August. I don't really know how I did it, but I made the choice to use this app…
  • For me, it ended up being about my health and my ability to move without pain. I have been "chunky" for all of my adult life. Obesity runs in my family and while I never got as big as some in my family, it was a scary thought. Apparently not scary enough for me to take this whole "lose weight, get in shape" thing to take…
  • Agree with other poster. All about number of calories. Enjoy!
  • I have a Blendtec and love it! I have had no problems with it, blends everything smoothly. I thought about the Vitamix, but honestly it is just too big to fit under my cupboards and looks too "Industrial". I have heard it's good too, but went for one that I can leave out. I have green smoothies several times a week, love…
  • I had that problem at times. Not meeting my daily amount. Whether it be from stress, illness, or I am just so afraid of going over my amount. I am doing better, some days I go over. However I do not find it easy to go over because I pay so much attention to what I am eating now. Very common to struggle with getting enough…
  • Good luck! This is my 2nd try at this whole calorie counting thing. Now, I think I've got it down, doesn't feel like a bother, but something that keeps me on track. Big fan!
  • You look great! Keep it up :)
  • I typically will add: 1/4 water, 2 cups of Kale, handful of broccoli (sometimes more), 2 spears of Pineapple, cup of mango and ice. Comes out thin, tastes good too. Those are estimates of how much I put in, I get to grabbing and just throw in. Some days more mango is needed as pineapple can make it stringy. I personally do…
  • I just turned 48 last week and I sure need motivation to keep going. Feel free to add me :)
  • Wow, sorry you are going through all of that. Hard to take care of yourself when your whole life is changing and stressful, but that's when it is absolutely necessary. You will have to find your willpower to make anything work. It's there, it's just hiding. Start counting your calories, log EVERYTHING. Remember, you aren't…
  • I never wanted to count calories either. I would just eat less and exercise. Well, after that not panning out so well for me over the years, I found this website. Decided I would try. First try, I got tired of counting calories. Why did weight watchers give you all fruits and veggies free, but not MFP? I eat a lot of those…
  • Welcome! It's a great app, works best if you use it, lol. I was gone for a long time, then decided I was actually going to use it and I am seeing results. Feel free to add me! we can all use the motivation and encouragement!
  • I don't know if I qualify for this topic, but I will be 48 tomorrow and realized that losing weight will not get easier the older I get. I need to lose about 20-25lbs more. I have such bad arthritis - possibly RA, that any extra weight is not doing me any favors. I would love to help motivate and be motivated if you think…
  • Wow, what an inspiration! Thank you for sharing!
  • Hello, I'm back after slacking off for several months. I have been a RN for a little while now, approximately 13 years. I have found my niche in Oncology and absolutely love it! I work in an outpatient clinic, so have a pretty cushy schedule, M-F, no weekends, no holidays. I find it so amazing that our patients take care…
  • Just take it one day at a time. I do great somedays, horrible other days. I just don't beat myself up for it. I know I will never be thin, I just want to get to being healthy. It's hard when you are used to not thinking about what you are putting in your body, then you actually start paying attention....whole new way of…
  • I have a green smoothie every morning. Took some getting used to, but wanted to find an easy way to get in my veggies. I played around with veggies and fruits, and found what works for me. handful of Kale or Spinach Broccoli Cucumber parsley ginger root couple squirts of lemon juice whey vanilla protein powder to help me…
