  • I will be in Cedar Rapids welcoming you incoming riders and waving the outgoing riders on the next day. I've never done RAGBRAI but it is on my bucket list. That last leg is dooozie this year!!

  • In my experience, you just have to suck it up and start doing them military style. I could do girl push ups until the end of time but it didn't help me any with regular push ups. I finally got fed up. I am up to being able to do 10 in a row now, it took me 2 months. Even now, the first one is still harder than the last…
  • Tap water!!! Reasons why: 1. Regulations on tap water are more stringent 2. Most tap water is fluoridated and can help protect your teeth 3. Millions of plastic bottles will not be headed to the landfill because of you 4. It's free (well, I'm generalizing, I realize most homeowners pay a water bill of some kind) Cheap,…
  • Stay far, far away from the Skinny Girl Sangria. ICK!!! I've heard the Margarita is ok but I like the Jose Quervo light margartia and it is actually less calories than the SG one.
  • I wear the same size pants if I weigh 150 or 190. Seriously. At 150 they are loose but not enough to get a smaller size, at 190 I have the muffiest muffin top ever, but next size up is still too big. It does save me from having to buy new clothes every time I drop 5lbs.(or gain) So I guess I have that going for me.
  • I just wanted to drop in and say good luck and happy shredding to all of you who are just starting out. I've gone through it a couple of times now and couldn't believe the amazing results. If you stick to it, you will be happy and notice a difference.
  • I work out about 5-6 hours per week. This primarily consists of two 20 minute walks(morning and afternoon break at work) and 30 minutes circuit training each day M-F.
  • 45 days of 30 Day Shred and I can now do 10 real push ups.
  • This is exactly what I was thinking! Why would anyone care what anyone else is eating?? Obviously from the comments I've determined apparently many people do care what other people eat. Who knew? *shrug*
  • I prefer the Miller 64 to the Bud Select 55. Also, if you are just going for the beer flavor, I believe that all NA beers are low cal. I think around 60 calories. Busch NA is my preference for that. Where I am from the Miller 64 and Bud 55 are in every grocery store or gas station. No way in heck I would give up beer…
  • I log it as 20 minutes of circuit training for 200 calories. I went through a bunch of threads and found what people with HRM were burning. 200 was about the average (some more, some less) so that's what I picked.
  • Delivery is everything and even then someone could easily take it wrong or be offended. Personally, I would appreciate someone giving me a tip or two. I can't afford a personal trainer so everything I've learned has been from reading or videos. If someone walked up to me and said "I'm studying to be a personal trainer, do…
  • Totally normal. Some people get it worse than others. My fingers look like sausages when I get done with a walk! You don't have to take it from me though, here is what the Mayo clinic says about it: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hand-swelling/AN01403
  • Check out emilybites.com for some recipes.
  • Slice and grill them! I brush a tiny bit of olive oil on each and then salt and pepper. Sometimes I put a little cayenne on them too. Sweet potato fries are also excellent! YUM!
  • Thank you to those of you who gave serious opinions on this. Thanks to those who made a funny remark, I appreciate humor even when it relates to a serious situation. And to those who are took the time to leave a snarky comment, thanks for stopping by to do what you do. In all seriousness, many of you are probably right,…
  • Thank you for this post.
  • Haha, totally read it wrong. It was the girlfriends kid. Sometimes it's hard to remember the original post after reading through all the answers!
  • We have a 100% sober driver but thanks for your judgement anyway.:flowerforyou:
  • I wish I knew if someone else said something. I would like to be of the "it's not my problem" persuasion but obviously it is still weighing heavily on my mind. :frown:
  • I did this way back when. (I wasn't as smart as I am now  ) I was literally starving all the time and then binging at dinner. 3/4 cup special K + 1/2 cup skim milk= 160 calories, the amount of food this provides you is laughable. No wonder I was starving!! Eat real food that will make you full instead. Here are some…
  • First off, um, I hate you. I left the hospital still wearing my maternity clothes and still looking 9 months prego!! To the OP, it took me about 6-8 months to drop the weight and I had way farther to go then you since I gained 60+ pounds while pregnant.
  • bumpin' for later.
  • You can lose weight by using a stationary bike so your clothing gets looser. (Note the difference between lose and loose) English lesson aside, a stationary bike can be used to burn calories and therefore help you lose weight. For people just starting out or who have an injury that prevents other types of exercise a bike…
  • The girls are the first thing I lose. I would absolutely consider plastic surgery, unfortunately my thighs are the last thing I lose so I'd rather have plastic surgery there! LOL There isn't a way to choose where to lose weight or to stop losing in certain places. A the joys of womanhood :)
  • I think everyone is different and location makes a huge difference. Mine is on my back, off to the side (over one of my kidneys). I required about 1 hour of healing time before it was life as usual. Maybe a little TLC in the following days but really nothing that interfered with my regular stuff.
  • I make "Thanksgiving meatloaf". I don't really use recipes, I just throw in stuff so this is not precise. Ground Turkey Bread crumbs and seasoning from box of stove top stuffing (1/2 box for 1lb turkey, full box for 2lbs) Shredded carrots finely diced onions and celery an egg or two milk Bake 350 for 45 minutes to an hour…
  • You may want to check if one can serving is for drained corn and the other is for undrained. That may explain the calorie difference. If that is not it, then I've got no clue.
  • Weight training changed my life for weight loss/fitness. I no longer log hours and hours and hours on cardio. A quick weight circuit and a walk every day (total of about 5 hours a week) and I've been steadily losing weight and OMG, the visible changes in my body (seriously) are pure motivation ... Be willing to give it a…
  • I was very anti sports and anti exercise at his age myself and I can honestly say I regret that very much now because I had to spend a lot of time playing catch up in the health department during my 20's. I don't want to see him make the same mistakes I did (I know, what parent hasn't said this) I won't force him because I…
