  • Depends. If I'm doing a 2-3 hour bike ride, and I haven't eaten in a few hours, I will need to eat something before and during my ride, if I don't, I won't have enough energy! (cliff bar anyone?) Normal workouts I generally prefer to eat something afterward, really depends on what works best for you.
  • Shaving is such a pain now. My armpits actually have a pit, my lower legs have definition and my upper legs have lose skin, that is the most challenging, shaving with lose skin! Oh well, I'll take it!
  • Phen is not going to help you in the long term, go revisit it with your doctor and see a registered dietitian. When I first started last year, the RD I met with played a huge part in setting me up for long term sustainable success.
  • I stock up on wine, I'll end up with a case of three buck chuck every time I go. I also always get dark chocolate covered edamame.
  • Yes, thrift stores will become your friend. To help pay for these clothes, I have sold many of my higher quality items online, it doesn't get me enough to cover everything new, but it definitely has helped! Also, shop smart. try and get versatile items, something that will go with many outfits and have flexible sizing. For…
  • I started at 325, currently at 236 (-89 lbs), this has taken over 400 days so far. The best advice I can give is that consistency is key, but one missed day here or there isn't going to derail your progress, just like 1 day of great eating won't magically make you lose it all. Know that one of these weeks you won't lose…
  • 29 yrs old, started at 325, currently at 236 ish, feel free to add me
  • Only you can truly motivate yourself. But if you are needing an extra push to help find it, look at the success board here or http://www.reddit.com/r/progresspics Those places always helps me fiind my motivation

  • Good things takes time. I've lost 87 pounds so far, some weeks I lose a lot, other weeks I don't lose anything, some weeks it actually shows a slight gain. Stay the course. Also, I've noticed sometimes I stall a bit when I start to get sloppy with my logging.
  • However much rice fits into your calories/macros for the day is how much you can eat, if you want to eat it. For what it's worth, I've lost 86 pounds and have eaten my fair share of white rice, I just make sure i"m in a calorie deficit.
  • A shot of bourbon has about 100 calories, so it isn't too bad on calories!

  • Well done! Many congratulations!!!!
  • Whatever you can fit into your day. It is much easier to do a straight lower calorie liquor (like rum or vodka) with a calorie free mixer. My go to is rum & diet, but if I have room sometimes I'll do something else, my husband is a home brewer, and I need to make room for taste testing!

  • Ease into it. If you jump into this too fast you will burn yourself out. If you do end up doing two workouts in a day, make sure you are properly fueling your body (aka, you will need to eat more food) Edit to add, what is the rush? Slow & steady is generally best for long term success.
  • Green tea does have caffeine, but it is significantly less than coffee.

  • I wear a smaller sized, thin stacking band in front of my wedding set, basically to keep my set from falling off. Yesterday everything fell off again, so I need to order yet another size smaller stacking band. (Trying to avoid re-siziing everything until I'm at a stable weight)
  • I get drunk really, really fast, I'm always cold and constantly having to buy new clothing is getting really annoying.
  • My husband and I bought it once, each took a spoonful and tossed it in the garbage. I guess some people actually enjoy it, but in my opinion, I'd rather have a normal portion of something that actually tastes good.

  • I am a meat eater (and grew up on a farm, meat was part of every meal), but I eat many meatless meals now. The meals that I don't miss the meat at all are ones full of a lot of flavor, usually something Asian, like curry, stirfry, stews (just had a chickpea & kale stew last night, so good!) If you really want to impress…
  • WOOOOOO!!!!! Many congratulations!

  • I started at 325 pounds, mostly with walking, then I added in swimming and bought an indoor recumbent stationary bike. All were very low impact. I found the indoor bike, brand new, at Goodwill for $25, it was great on the super hot days last summer when I wanted to stay in air conditioning. Really, do whatever you enjoy,…
  • This. I've tried meal replacement shakes twice in the past, both times I lost a good amount for a few months, then I'd slowly go back to normal food and gain it all back, plus more. They might be a quick fix, but 99% of the time it will not give long term success, because you are not learning proper portion control, and…
  • I'm not a vegetarian, but I eat a decent amount of meatless meals. Some of my favorites that are really filling are chickpeas, lentils and beans. Tonight I'm actually doing a chickpea and kale stew, I do a lot of curries with these items too.
  • I wanted to become a runner, like really bad. I tried to become one last summer, I never enjoyed it, then I pushed myself too far and became injured. So, I don't run anymore. (I have found other ways of long cardio, mostly cycling) Regardless, I don't run and I've lost 85 pounds (and counting) If you really hate it, don't…
  • This is what we used for the broth, http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-bone-broth-cooking-lessons-from-the-kitchn-215311 For everything else we just added in what was on sale at the grocery store/what looked really good. We let it cool so we could skim the fat, then reheated it back up and added in chopped bok choy and…
  • Oh goodness it was! Fresh homemade broth, lots of veggies, noodles and an egg. Nom.
  • Accurate logging and not buying into any quick fix.
