  • This has been helpful. Thanks to you all.
  • Heavy whipping cream plus stevia.
  • I go 5% carbs(20) and 20%protein and 75% fat. Keeps me well in ketosis...though I struggle with too much protein, like everyone else.
  • I agree with Steve. If I start eating those things I will keep craving those things....having said that, I'm hopelessly addicted to diet soda.
  • Wow, I'm going to read these every day. lol. I weigh myself before bed, upon wakening and when I get home from work or wherever. I also dont update my weight here until it's got a .0 on the scale.
  • 6 months of eating a ratio of about 75% fat, 20%protein and 5% carbs from veggies brought my triglyceride levels down from 250 to 180. My doc was so impressed he wrote me a letter. lol
  • you can add me. however I do struggle with my protein/fat ratio. I'm 20 cpd...just need more fat and less protein.
  • Just a note, lots of carb counts you find on the internet when you look up a food...are already net carbs...they've already done the calculations for you. That grinds my gears. I also do old school carb counting.
  • Absolutely, though I never thought of it as such until I discovered low carb eating and had to break my attiction to sugar and carbohydrates. Once I did, I was free from that obsessive constant craving....and each time I go back to eating carbohydrates and sugar, my appetite and cravings are completely out of control.…
  • well isn't that interesting...
  • http://wifezillasway.blogspot.com/2012/01/abi-faes-fat-bombs.html A fat bomb is a way to increase your fat intake. There are different recipes out there if you google it....personally I'd use one without fruit.
  • Yay! congrats! The real fat loss comes when all the water weight is gone, and all the sugar is gone from your muscles, and your body relents to burning fat for energy instead of glucose. I lost 14 pounds in the first 2 weeks, then it slowed down some, so for me, I think that was the point. Though I'll share this, I know…
  • Often, people who have low carb success have it, in part, because it's the only type of eating that has allowed them the self control to actually control their calories. When I'm not eating low carb, it's like an eating monster takes over and there would be no way to limit my calories to 1200. In the beginning, it's best…
  • You might try a fat fast, if you're in a true plateau(3+weeks) or try adding fat bombs to your diet. You might want to look at your calories...are you eating enough? I've budged a plateau by increasing calories. You might also want to look at those stall type foods....artifical sweetners, nuts, processed foods and such.…
  • Avocado...bacon....pork....heavy whipping cream....nuts(if they dont stall you) and fatty cuts of beef like ribeye. Full fat dressings, and coconut oil.
  • I wonder if you realize how much caffiene decaf coffee has? Even decaf has between 10 and 20 percent the caffiene of 'regular' coffee. You may be having a ton of caffiene if you are drinking it all day.
  • Hmm. I'm just back after an absence due to some of my own health issues. I'd be happy to help, if someone can teach me what to do....it would truly help me get back to my mfp discipline, that I'd lost(after a dedicated 6 months of logging in every day.) So yeah, pm me if you still need someone. I think it would help my…
  • I'm a carb/sugar junkie as well. I've been doing low carb for almost 6 months. I can let you know that after the first few weeks, your insane desire for sugar/carbs declines dramatically. The longer you can resist them...or any foods you have a 'problem' with, the easier it is. It takes strong determination to get into the…
  • Yes, you can track whatever 4 macros you want, in addition to calories. It's under settings. I track carbs, protein, fat and sodium.

  • Wow. Lots of bad info on Atkins here. I'm going to address one point at the moment. Atkins diet is FULLY sustainable. In fact, it's the only sustainable way of eating that I've ever discovered, and I've tried so many. If I DO go back to eating a bunch of bread and potatoes and sugar. I'll definitely gain my weight…

  • As usual, I agree with Vim. However, if you decide to add more calories, nuts, cream, avocado, cheese are excellent ways to up your caloric intake with just a little food....and avocado and nuts have those wonderful fats you need. Good luck!

  • Here's the deal. My first cheat...vacation:cheated for 4 days...gained 5 pounds. I lost 11, in the week after I returned. My last cheat: 3 pancakes. Gained FOUR pounds. No kidding. 4 pounds. Almost a week later, and I've almost lost that weight. The bad thing about cheats is that they cause carb cravings, and calorie…
  • Yep. Ordered this yummy omelette at ihop. Didnt know it came with pancakes. I ate them. Sugar free syrup even. Gained 4 pounds(no kidding, 4 pounds.....3 pancakes) and I cant stay under my calories since. I'm eating low carb stuff for my cravings...but low carb stuff wont get/keep weight off if you eat a ton of it. Sorry.…
  • carbs beget more carbs....now that's a true statement. for my 'guilty' pleasure, i have sugar free jello with a tad of unsweetened whipped cream. mostly cause it's 'blah' instead of 'great.' i seriously had to stop the 'great' stuff to break it. now at 4 months i'm adding some raspberries!! they are waaaay better than…
  • It's familiar, when you get to that point where your appetite is gone completely, other strange things happen. I had some seriously strange things happening as I entered ketosis the first time. I'm gonna advise you toward more water....that helped all of my strange ketotic symptoms, including that 'poisioned throat'…
  • I lose weight in wooshes. I'll juggle the same 2-3 pounds for a week or 2 then 5 come off and stay off. I did stop for a few weeks one time....I cut out nuts, increased my fat intake, limited dairy, lowered my calories to mfp's bmr suggestion, and exercised more. That will get you going. If you work out daily, try taking a…
  • There arent a lot of things you can do in the crock pot in the induction stage. Beef, pork, chicken.....and frankly, the spices you might want to add will add carbs to what should be your carb free options in induction...your meat. In the induction phase you want to get ALL your carbs from your veggies...and maybe some…
  • Yes. You may be in for a big shock. I wasnt able to 'work out' at my normal level for weeks. Depending on how reliant your body is for carbs for energy, you may struggle. As your body uses up all the easy glucose in your muscles, it's going to scream for more. Look up carb flu. I got light headed, dizzy, weak, hot,…
