  • My hips knock out of alignment when I run.... I work at a gym, so one of the Physical Therapists showed me some isolation exercises to do to alleviate it. You'll know if it happens, because it actually trails up your spine- and you'll feel low back pain rather than hip pain. I agree about stretching your IT band. It…
  • There are a TON!- But a couple movies I never tire of would be MYSTIC PIZZA and THE HOLIDAY.

  • I'm not an expert, but it could be all the pressure on your chest, making it hard to breathe at night. Losing the weight cuts the pressure. That's just a guess.
  • Last year, there was a program where you coule complete an entire triathalon in the duration of the three weeks and you could only complete 15 miles per day. Anyway- when we logged in the cycling... a cycyling/spinning class that lasted 50 minutes is generally around 15 miles. I'm not sure if that helps or not.

  • Hmm... A salad with edamame, avocado, and chickpeas, with a light honey mustard. The salad was about 300 calories; the fridge was low- had to be a little creative  Enjoy the day!!!

  • Hey there! I've been a member of the site for awhile; kind of fell off track for a bit, and am now back! (and it feels good!) I recently (like 2 weeks ago!) moved to Greenville, SC, and am wondering if anyone from the area could recommend any fitness facilities that offer group exercise classes; yoga studios for me!
  • Tuck your knees into your chest- then extend your legs out to a 45 degree angle and hold for a slow 8 count . Make sure your lower back stays inprinted to the ground (you can tuck your hands underneathe your hips to help). I usually try to do this excercise three times. A twist on the reverse crunch- if you have a balance…
  • Hey there! I actually teach pilates, and YES! it's a great workout! Basic mat pilates is great on the joints and a great alternative to high impact classes. Pilates will not neccisarily MELT the fat off, but it will give you a stronger core which will help in all areas of your life, increase balance, posture, strength. It…
  • There are a TON of things you can do without equipment. The basics....walking, jogging, gardening...all those things that have been mentioned, PLUS - Country Line Dancing - Dancing in general...throw yourself a dance party when you're getting ready in the morning, plus it'll give you more confidence throughout the day! -…
  • If you invest in a stability ball, you can do an entire cardio and weight training workout with it. I teach a class called "Have a Ball" so if you'd like any ideas for exercises, just let me know. I also do a few things while watching TV or in the shower....it's just hard to remember sometimes to do them. - In the shower,…
  • 1 banana 1/4 c. granola with 3/4 c. lowfat vanilla yogurt
  • Ugh! I've been suffering from the stomach flu this past week, and needless to say, I've lost those few extra pounds I've been aiming for  But in all seriousness, I've been trying to replenish the nurtrients that I've lost in those few days, and my eating schedule is not quite back to what it was prior to being sick,…
  • A whole wheat pita with roast beef, avocado, and tomato.... i don't know how many calories yet, haha I haven't calculated it. I'm still hungry though... :ohwell:
  • You definitely need to make up for the calories you lose while working out. After a week of working out, you'll realize that you can't work out anymore without that extra energy from the food. That happened to me the other day....I've been down about 600 calories, and the other day, I couldn't run for the life of me. Then…
  • I agree, Rtex.... tell him " You either eat, or don't eat!" haha You can always just cut back on portion size.
  • -Push-ups...obviously -Do one push up and then push into a side plank- if you rest your lower leg on the floor, it's not as difficult, but you always have the option to take it into a full side plank. THen push up again, into the other side -Straight planks -Deltoid Dips- or a crab push-up----works your triceps. Make sure…
  • Rewards are definitely great to work towards! We have a Purdue Ironman Challenge at school, in which you have three weeks to complete and entire Ironman...118 miles biking, 2.4 miles swimming, and an entire marathon. Because it's so rigorous and hard on your feet, as well as the chlorine destroying toe polish, my roommates…
  • A balance ball is a lifesaver!!!! You can perform an entire workout- cardio and strength training- workout with it. A definite investment! If you'd like any ideas for exercises, let me know! I have a ton for the ball!
  • Full time student: Purdue University- Psychology/ OLS major I waitress part-time, and teach various Group Fitness Classes as well as Pilates and Sport Yoga at our recreational sports center.
  • LC, you said you were from Indiana, whereabouts? I'm down at Purdue for school...which makes for some pretty poor health decisions (the reason for being a member of the site).
  • Well everybody eventually hits this point. It's a plateau, which means you just need to push a little more to get through it. Add a couple reps on to your lifting routine, five minutes on the treadmill, or increase the resistence on the bike without slowing down. Losing a little at a time is a lot healthier than the pounds…
  • It sounds like everyone has great goals set for themselves! I live with five other girls (at college) and we are all trying to keep eachother motivated and healthy. I'm also a fitness instructor at our recreational sports center here, and I just wanted to make sure that no one is burning themselves out. Doing too much at…
