  • You may want to look at Renaissance Periodization as well, renaissanceperiodization.com I follow them on IG. Bought their e-book that is specific to women. Compare, see what you think. There are a lot of people on-line that have had success with them. Look at RP_transformations for some inspiration on IG.
  • Top 3 1. HSPU 2. Squats - any of them, including OH 3. Squat Snatch - learning to love them, though I'm not very good Bottom 3.. 1. Running - 3 years of CF and I'm still last 2. Box Jumps - short legs and shin stitches in Jan 3. C2B - I have a really high pullup, but can string my C2B
  • 51 RX. HSPUs are one of my favorites.

  • I had a hard time with Nanos...Pulled my soleus twice and got plantar fasciitis (I'm sure it wasn't only from the Nanos). But, I have fitted inserts now and can wear my Nanos again without either problem. I wear OLYs when I lift heavy in a WOD. Otherwise, it's either my Nanos or my 'older' Adidas running shoes (similar…
  • I agree...it all depends on the programming at your Box. My Box programs lifting almost every day (only exception is Thursday, which is generally an active rest team WOD) and we have an OLY class on Saturday. If you participate and put the effort into it, I think it could be enough. I tend to lift heavy and go longer on…
  • Restaurants are so hard when you are with others who are not following the same lifestyle. When I am by myself, I tell them no bread as soon as I get there....as much as I don't want to :) Great job! Keep up the good work!
  • There is a CrossFit Group on here....good information, feedback, and support
  • Good Luck tomorrow to all who are competing!!
  • I've been doing CF for 2 years, and just recently 'figured it out' for me, anyway. I was like some of you and did single/double for quite a while. Then, I made myself stop. I figured I'd never learn if I kept doing it that way. During the Open, I had a great day and got a great score for me. So, I figured, I'd try it…
  • We did Beauty and Beast at our last Comp and it was hard. They had us go up in weight, and your score was your highest weight. Lunges are the toughest part for me as well. We just don't do them all that often! We have a competition on the 16th as well, Summer Sizzler - Teams and Individual. I did team last time and am…
  • I wear running skirts....small shorts for comfort, but a little longer skirt to cover. Capris or longer in the winter if it's cold. I find it hard to lift in running shorts...or just uncomfortable. I find most skirts/capris at TJ Maxx. They have good sports bras, too, if you don't have a lot to hold up! haha. They aren't…
  • That's exciting!!
  • It sounds like your soleus. I have pulled mine multiple times. A few things I've learned.... First time was prior to a 1/2 marathon. I kept trying to jump back to training after a few days or a week of training only to reinjure it. I ended up staying off of it for about 4-5 weeks right before my race. I bought the sleeve…
  • I just ordered Isopure Natural Chocolate and Low Carb Toasted Coconut (I'm hoping it tastes like a pina colada! haha) Both had good reviews. My son can't stand to drink the protein drinks, but he loves a Quest bar. Most have 21 grams of protein. They are made with Whey Protein and are 1 gram of sugar, high fiber and gluten…
  • Hallelujah...Jeff Buckley's version :) Listening to it now on Pandora :)
  • I'm going to have to agree with Paige's comments. I am waiting to see the comments, too! hahaha I started 2 years ago and it is the only thing that I have stuck to in years. All the haters can hate, but they are obviously doing something right. Most people who CF stick to it. It's pricier than a gym membership, but I'd…
  • I added you.... Anyone else feel free to Friend request as well. I CF 5-6 days a week. I need to start logging again. I'm ketogenic with high (good) fat. Yes, I have plenty of energy for my workouts :)
  • We do some of them. I love the CF Box I go to...I think they have some of the best programming! Today we did 2007 Games Hopper Workout... 1000 meter row...then 5 rds 25 pull-ups 7 push press 135/95 I won't even mention my time. My hands ripped on round 3, so round 4 and 5 pullups were as slow as they come! I was traveling…
  • Google BodPod and see if there is one in your area. It's a much bettter way to check bodyfat without spending big bucks. If you can't find one near you via Google, try calling a local University. Ours has one in their sports department and charges a small fee...about $25-$35. I've seen the bodpod calculate up to 10%…
  • Bod Pod is usually the best option for the money. Our local university offers a pretty good deal. We recently negotiated a really good rate through our box by doing a before and after during one of our Clean Eat challenges. If you can find one in your area, see if they may do something similar and then offer it up to…

  • There is a CrossFit Love Group. If I remember correctly, this question was asked there...you may want to go look at the response. Personally, I created a WOD in my profile that adjusts with the time, but I keep the calories burned setting low. I'd rather be conservative.
  • I love coming in here and reading these! There is always something new to learn in CrossFit. Great job everyone! I had a victory yesterday. I walked on my hands for about 10ft! I could barely lift a hand not too long ago, so this was exciting.
  • Welcome! Everything Jordy said ... I've been in for 2 years now, and love it! It's changed my life as well...I constantly call it my fountain of youth. I've never been in better shape. Get to know people in your Box. It's a great community. And, I'm not just talking about my own Box. It's fun to go to other boxes if you…
  • I have tried 3-4 different belts and love the flip belt. Have never gone back to any of the others. Just be sure to flip it! I forgot once and my phone fell out. It fits snug and I never thought it would, but it did. I've never had a problem when it's flipped. I've had it for about 2 years.
  • This is definitely the case for me. I have lifted heavy and made a lot of progress over the last two years with CrossFit, but I always wanted to just lose the extra fat that is hiding all my muscles. I know it's there and I want all of my hard work to show. I have been cutting for about 2 months now and have taken off…
  • 19:40 RX for me. I'll take 2X the thrusters if I could take out the burpees! Yuck! Just breathe and keep moving. My burpees are as slow as they come :) Great job everyone! Hate to see it end...but I know what I need to work on in 2014.

  • I used to work out first thing in the morning and I NEVER ate before my WOD. I have done IF and am currently following a ketogenic diet. Sometimes I do IF, sometimes I don't. I had my fat tested in a bodpod back in May and then again in August. At that time I was doing a lot of IF and quite frankly, experimenting with a…
  • This was definitely not one of my best. All the things I'm not that good at. I prefer weights to endurance. I guess it just shows my weakness and what I need to work on this year :) I only hit 145 total. The T2B were killer. I don't string them and I get tired, so I was on the bar for about 7-8 minutes :( Good luck to the…

  • Another tip is to be sure to use your arms. Sometimes, we get tired and forget about the arms.
