I can't speak for anyone but myself, but when I was trying to lose weight on MFP I never ate under 1200 calories and I always ate back my exercise calories. Some months I lost quickly and some months I lost almost nothing but after a little over a year I was down to where I wanted to be.

I was in the same situation 2 years ago when I joined MFP. The things that worked best for me were to weigh or measure everything I ate or drank, recording every bite of anything I ate (including gum, even though you don't swallow that), and if I had to estimate calories in something, I always guessed on the high end. You…

Right now my favorite low calorie cookie type things are Pringles Stix in sugar cookie flavor (less than 90 calories) and Fiber One 90 Calorie bars (the lemon and the cinnamon are best).

Just stick with it. It took me over a year to lose my weight. I am 5'3" and weighed 196 lbs. the day I started trying to lose weight and 190 the day I discovered My Fitness Pal. I don't exercise a lot, but when I do, I eat back the exercise calories and I never ate below the 1200 calories that MFP said to eat while I was…

Chobani is my favorite Greek yogurt. My favorite low calorie one is Dannon light which only has 80 calories per container.

Thank you very much.

Drink lots and lots of water, only eat when you are truly hungry {a growling stomach is a good indication}, and stop eating when you don't feel hungry anymore. Don't keep eating until you feel full because in a few minutes the full feeling will come.

I would start by weighing and measuring everything I was eating and then logging everything on MFP. Many people think they have a good idea of how many calories they are eating but are surprised when they see what the amount actually is. I'm not saying you are over-eating but measuring and logging is important for anyone…

Great post.

Being able to try on clothes and find things that I know look good on me.

I don't eat less the next day. I've been on MFP for 16 months and I've had a cheat day almost every week since I started and I've had great results. I'm not saying my way works for everyone, but it has worked for me.

Way to go! Congratulations!

You look fabulous!

All I know is that when I regularly drink 8 or more cups of water a day I feel bettter, have more energy and my skin isn't dry.

Last year at Thanksgiving I had been on MFP a little over 3 months. We had Thanksgiving dinners at 3 different places and Christmas dinners at 2 places. I logged everything and ate smaller portions than I had in past years but I had some of everything that I wanted. I did this at each of the holiday meals. I certainly went…

I have a cheat day each week and last year I made my cheat days on the days I had Thanksgiving and Christmas get togethers. Actually I had 2 cheat days at Thanksgiving and 3 at Christmas because we ate at different places on different days. Afterward I went back to eating my 1200 calories a day and I kept right on losing.…

I log it all!

I am 47 years old. I began trying to lose weight in July of 2012. I lost 6 pounds and then discovered MFP. I've lost 54 pounds since joining for a total of 60 pounds in 13 months. Since being on MFP I have done my best to stay within the calories MFP has given me except I have a cheat day once a week, sometimes twice,…

I eat a 100 Klondike Slim a bear ice cream sandwich or a TCBY fudge bar which has only 80 calories. Lots of times I eat a Tootsie Pop. It takes a while to eat, has less that 100 calories and satisfies my sweet tooth.

About .16 lbs. per day, or about 5 lbs. per month.

I agree. Personally, I like a larger dinner. I usually eat a lower calorie breakfast and lunch so most of my calories are available for dinner. I also eat back my exercise calories. I have been on MFP for a year and this method has worked great for me.

Thanks to all who have replied. It is interesting to other people's thoughts on this.
