  • Awesome achievements - beating cancer and looking amazing!

  • I say enjoy it while it lasts.
  • I'm sure someone will give you the scientific reason about which foods you eat and when depending on your goals. personally I train early morning and don't have a good workout unless I have some fuel. I can't stand eating before 7am so just have half a protein shake and BCAAs - made a huge difference for me.
  • Awesome self awareness. I'm a binge eater from way back and got myself quite overweight and extremely unhappy. Made those around me miserable too. It's such a vicious cycle. I started with the basics like getting enough sleep. I'd punish myself, not intentionally, by being sleep deprived then survive on junk food to get me…
  • You shouldn't have to put up with this, it's bullying. Stay strong. One colleague wears a heavy bangle which bangs on the desk when she types. She also lifts the mouse and bangs it down to reposition it - change the dang mouse speed would you so you stop running of space and having to reposition it. Another colleague…
  • Totally agree.

  • I found it daunting at first too but got a trainer to show me round and do a plan for me. I'm confident on the machines that I know well but still shy away from machines I haven't used before and tend to find a quiet space somewhere rather than work out in front of people. I find headphones help me get into the zone and…

  • I'm a emotional and binge eater from waaaay back. I really identify with everything you wrote, particularly crying to yourself whilst shoving chicken nuggets in your mouth. Yup, been there done that, many times. I disagree with advice about fasting. I do 5:2 and eat 800 cal on fasting days. I'm loving it. I eat plenty of…
  • I feel for you. Harness the despair and put it to good use. Don't just lose weight - gain self esteem, stamina, fitness, a sense of purpose. You CAN do it.
  • I've been working with my trainer for 6 mths and wouldn't be without him. He pushes me so much harder than I would ever push myself, he listens to what my goals are and makes a plan accordingly. Well worth every cent.
  • I've not made any new friends at the gym in 6 months. In all fairness though I wear headphones so I'm not particularly receptive to starting conversations. I make more friends in the changing rooms because I'm not wearing headphones and it's more relaxed & casual when getting changed.
  • I love my food being all touchy feely cause I like to a bit of everything in every mouthful.
  • Welcome back. Restarting sucks but at least you're here giving it a go. It's so difficult to restart I wonder why we do it to ourselves aye.
  • I belong to my work gym cause it's in the same building and the classes were good and cheap. Then I joined another gym because one particular zumba instructor is so awesome. With that gym I met a personal trainer who has helped me to lose weight and gain muscle. Across the 2 gyms, I do zumba for fun, pilates for…
  • I set up a machine to do tricep and bicep curls next to this guy using a machine beside me. I get the 2 bars on there, just about to start super sets, when the guy comes over to remove the bar I literally just put on. He didn't even ask - just tried to take. I said actually I'm using that - gave me the look and wandered…
  • When you arrive late to Ride class, can't adjust the bike so have to change bikes, then drop your plastic drink bottle which smashes and water goes everywhere, you spend 3 mins cleaning up the water and finally start the class on song #3. Fortunately it wasn't me but I did feel for the lady who did it. Then she had no…
  • It's not as good as bacon though

  • The only time I got close to being hit on at the gym was a guy complimenting me on working out really hard. Unfortunately he was probably 150 years my senior, lol. I'd enjoy compliments about form or strength but I always wear headphones and my resting *kitten* face gives off a negative vibe so nobody comes near me. Even…
  • I recently got a tattoo on my neck with my kids initials. When my hair is down at work I look respectable. When I have my hair up at the gym or on the weekend, you can see my tattoo and undercut. I love the fact that I can choose to hide it or not.
  • There was a road closure and lots of people who don't normally use public transport had to use to get home. One poor guy had an EFTPOS card but no cash. The conductor told him to get off at the next stop, get money and wait for the next train. I paid $5 for his trip for him. Poor guy was embarrassed but everyone around me…
  • I get what you're saying. I was saying this very thing to my husband the other day. I'm sure the boost of endorphins must play a part.
  • you get out of bed in the morning.
  • I find music a good pick me up. Really, really, really loud music, with lots of explicit language.
  • Funny, it's not the type of swinging I was thinking of when I clicked on this thread. Sorry, will get my mind out of the gutter.

  • Depends on your skills really. We do have a shortage of IT professionals. Immigration NZ produce long and short term skill shortage lists but they ask for qualifications for everything, frankly attitude is sometimes better than aptitude.
  • Do an unassisted pull up
  • It's not good for your teeth so I don't sip it all day long but do chug one done in the morning to boost my digestion about 10-15 mins before breakfast. I quite like the taste too.
