  • I use a New Balance one. It's the watch with a chest band. It's very comfortable, accurate, and relatively inexpensive. It was $60 at Target.
  • I always order the fajita - but don't eat the tortilla, or the sour cream or rice. I just eat off the sizzling pan - all the meat and vegies. I'm sure the oil is pretty fattening, but it always seems like the healthiest alternative. Check the menu for 'skinny drinks', too! I'm finding more and more that they have…
  • ABSOLUTELY!! It is totally worth it! Part of taking care of you, is making yourself feel good. It's not just exercise and nutrition. It's taking care of your skin, and feeling like you look good. It's the whole package - so, I say, do whatever it takes to make yourself feel good and keep yourself motivated. Good luck - and…
  • There are definite ways to liven up your treadmill workouts. But some people just can't get past the boredom of it all. Try walking with weights - start with just 2 pound weights and do bicep curls for a minute, tricep extensions for a minute, and shoulder presses for a minute. Then take a one minute 'break' and do…
  • It's always better to make 'healthy' choices and eat the right foods. Higher protein, high fiber makes you feel fuller longer - blah blah blah... Having said that - I say, if you never eat the foods you want, you'll never stick with a healthy eating pattern. As long as you're staying within your calories each day - go for…
  • I definitely think a treadmill is worth every dollar spent! I use a treadmill 3 days a week, and a DVD 3 days a week. It keeps me from getting bored. Aside from the P90x, most of the DVDs you can get are $10 or less... I would suggest buying one or two, so that you don't get bored. Obviously, the 30 day shred, is a 30 day…
  • CHEESE! In my mind, it's a yummy, high-fat snack that I LOVE! Sargentos 60 calorie low fat cheese sticks. YUMMY!
  • One more different opinion - I shoot for 100 calories for 10 minutes. Never less than 300 calories, cuz that's only a 30 minute workout. And I can maintain my calories with a 300 calorie workout. So, that's my goal... 300 calories.
  • I feel your pain!! All I do is think about food. I actually lost 55 pounds in 2010 (I reset all my info for 2011). So, I do understand. I literally try to set up a meal or snack for myself every couple of hours. I'm a bored eater - I eat whenever I'm not busy or doing something mindless. I eat breakfast at 8, snack at 10,…
  • Anytime I go out to eat, I go to the website and look at the menu first. I usually order a chicken sandwich of some kind - but then I don't eat the bun. If you eat a chicken sandwich with a fork - for some reason, it takes longer to eat :) And I NEVER order french fries - cuz I have no will power and would not stop eating…
  • You hate ALL vegetables? I kept saying that I hated vegetables, but then I realized it was just lettuce and raw spinach I hated. I found the rest to be much more tolerable. I would keep trying until you find one that you like - and try different spices to help you get through. Good luck!
  • Good luck, Katie!!! Just know that you can always find support on here - and don't let anyone, EVER, bring you down! And - a piece of advice (not that you asked for it) - but don't make excuses for yourself. Just because you eat on the go, doesn't mean you can't eat healthy. And to make this website work for you, it really…
  • By the way... I HIGHLY recommend Bob Harper's "Bob's Workout" DVD and Jillian's 6-Week 6-Pack DVD. I love them both!
  • I've looked into the Insanity DVDs, too - but I ended up going with Bob Harper's 4 DVD pack... the workouts are about 30 minutes long and incredibly hard. I haven't really mastered them, yet - but I'll get there. Sometimes I think just changing your DVD selection up a little helps a lot. I don't necessarily think you need…
  • Great goal! I'm a single parent who works full time. I get my lazy butt out of bed every morning at 4:30 to get my workout in. Then I don't have any excuses throughout the day to not workout - it's already done. I tend to eat better, too- cuz I don't want me workout to be for nothing. Great goal!!
  • Absolutely! Exercise actually helps with cramping, bloating, and headache - believe it or not.
  • I have the same problem. I'm a single mom, who works full-time. There isn't a way for me to go to a gym, so I have to figure out how to work out at home and at a time when I'm not working or being mom. The only time I've found that works for me is in the morning. I get up at 4:30 a.m. every day - and it sucks. But I keep…
  • I love the wii and there are a ton of good fitness options on there. But, I wouldn't use it for strength training. It's more for getting off the couch and moving for a while. If you want to do strength training at home - I recommend a couple of DVDs - Biggest Loser Boot Camp, and Bob Harper workouts are great.

  • I say - It's one night, and alcohol is alcohol - there are no healthy choices. Enjoy it for the night and make sure you get a good workout in during the day.
  • I like the Biggest Loser DVDs - specifically Boot Camp. It's all Bob Harper, and they start in levels - so the first level is only 25 minutes long. And you don't get discouraged - it's do-able.
  • Good luck, to you!!
  • I think it's more important to look at the combination. The formula is more simple than 80% diet and 20% exercise. It's just calories in and calories out. If you work out and 500 calories a day, but are eating more than that - then you're not going to lose weight. You have to do both, I think. It's not more one than the…
  • I have Melt it Off - but I don't really like the program. It was useful to get some exercises that I can do on my own. I agree with AmandaC - I have Slim in 6, as well - and have had it for many years. It's my favorite go-to DVD!
  • Congratulations on surviving!!! You are an inspiration! Good luck with your weight loss and just keep moving :)
  • You can do it!! I'm a huge fan of the treadmill at home. If my treadmill had eyes... it would have watched me walk off 58 pounds. Literally one step at a time. I started out just 25 minutes. Don't over do it or you'll burn out too quickly. After 1 - 2 weeks at the same distance - pick up the pace a little and go an extra 5…
  • Don't be so hard on yourself! You sound like you have the same problem as the rest of us on here. I'm blessed to have lost nearly 60 pounds - and still - I think about food every second of the day. What's my next snack? Is it time to eat, yet? When's dinner? What's for dinner? Is it time to eat, yet? The only advice I can…
  • Anything upbeat - from country, hard rock, techno, dance... just keep it movin'!
