Thanks y'all. Appreciate the feedback and suggestions!

The sodium may be the culprit, because in the past, I know that I've consistently eaten below my calories, but with the extra sodium it has caused the scale, and bloating, to go the other way.

I work in public accounting. It's not impossible for me to pack a lunch, though during busy season, I find it more difficult with the longer hours and traveling.

Ketostix to monitor ketosis have been known to be inaccurate and can give false readings; in addition if you are not weighing your food portions, you don't know precisely have many carbs, proteins, and fats you're actually consuming. Plus your logging has been sporadic. Recommit to consistent logging and lower your carb…

I love carbs too much to give them up now (short term) or forever. Try MFP out and you will see that you can maintain some of the foods that you love, while getting a calorie deficit. The process used here is almost so simple, it seems like it can't work, but it CAN, and it WILL if you follow the system and be consistent.

You are an inspiration! Lol. Thanks for all the encouragement you offer me on a daily basis.

That's cool. How do "they" know the weigh-ins you post are accurate? I don't need that as motivation, but if you find it fun and empowering, go for it.

I don't worry about sugars from fruits, and I eat a lot of fruit. A high amount of sodium will cause your body to retain water, other than that, I try to stay between 2000-2500mg of sodium a day.

Hey there, Name is Kellen, age 26, two young children, and in my final year of school. I don't have recipes, but find that if I buy items I like in bulk, I save some money, for things like chicken breasts, bananas, produce.

I don't think its necessary, instead I'd just focus on your calorie goal and exercise. Drink plenty of water, and your body will naturally detox itself.

Oh geez.

I don't really think there's gonna be much difference in theory for weight loss for men and women. Now given, men and women may lose weight differently, meaning at different paces and such. Just encourage him to follow a plan and encourage him when he needs it. Already being on MFP, you have a step up when it comes to…

You can do this, and you have a great start because you've recognized the problem. You already know what works since you've lost the weight before, just repeat.
-
I don't have that issue. I would try walking on a treadmill for 1 mile and compare the fitbit to the distance calculated on the machine. This will tell you if the device is counting correctly or not.

Welcome, why wait till Monday? Start logging your food today so you get an idea of your consumption and get some practice logging.

I don't have a personal experience in losing that much weight. But WOW, you have done awesome. If it were me, I'd just look at before and after pictures to stay motivated. You don't want to slip back into old habits that will undue all your hard work.

Sent you a message.

I go everyday, actually in the morning and night, but only count the one in the morning. just have to keep in mind that weight fluctuates and losses are not linear, meaning they go up and down. It does help keep me motivated though to see the daily changes. I'd say go with whatever keeps you inspired.

Its good and a helps to keep me engaged in my routine. But it won't do the work for us.. You still have to find the motivation within, otherwise you won't last long.Good luck and welcome.

I haven't figured out how to add friends on Fitbit yet...

It is more than likely water retention. It is really unlikely that you'd gain or lose 3-6 pounds in a few days time. If you are lifting weights, then your muscles may be retaining more water to heal with, or check your sodium levels. I think this is a normal process of weight loss, just hang tight and look down the road a…

My short term goal is to lose weight for a trip to Walt Disney World in February for the wife and myself. We went there 6 years ago on our honeymoon.

You're skinny!

Good to hear. Proud of you for starting. One day at a time, and you'll get where you want to go. A tip on the calorie intake, it took me some trial and error to find the right point in which my body would lose weight. Get plenty of water; in fact shoot for more than 8 cups per day, go for 12. Good Luck!

It's all going to come down to motivation and determination. The fact that you ask "whats next" and your planning 1-3 steps points out that you may not be motivated to do this process yet. Having action steps are wonderful, but why can't you implement all of them at once? You need a food scale if you have any chance of…

Try drinking about 2-3 times that amount of water. You are below the minimum recommended 8 cups per day.

Hey Matt, I could always use another friend. Have you lost 60lbs, or have a goal to lose 60lbs?

You are looking awesome. I love seeing the success stories of my friends here on MFP. Way to GO!
