  • It's better to give in to a craving instead of denying. When you deny your craving you might end up eating double or triple of that food that can be the ending of your progress.
  • As the saying goes, I cover my "junk" and wear water shoes. The shoes is because I do not know what was sitting on the bench before I got there. I have only been in a men's sauna. They be pigs there!
  • I have experienced insults by women about me only being 5'8. Women do not want to be judged yet they often judge men and make comments their backs.

  • I wear kit with bib to the ride and after. I wear pants or shorts over the bibs before a ride for the pockets
  • Rain and family matters are preventing me from stringing multiple road rides . However - May 8 - 22 miles road ride.
  • Stuff happens on the road when your plan was something different. Crashes happen they are called accidents because a crash is not planned. Riding a fast paceline is difficult. It sounds like you were doing pretty good for it being a first at that pace. Holding a paceline going up or downhill is not easy either. You know…
  • I agree with shadow2. The more fit you become burning calories become difficult. You should also notice the same affect with your BPM or HR. You would have to run faster or ride faster to raise the burn level. You have improved and your stats show it. Be happy yet see if you can push more. Also helps if you have a ride…

  • Hi, I belong to a bicycle club. Spring, Summer and Fall the club members and myself ride road bikes. What you need to stop calling racers. The road bike typically has the "tear drop" type of handle bars. Going to this type of bicycle would require going to a bike shop and getting measured for proper fit. I do suggest…
  • What you do is commendable. I do not think you need to go to a gymn to lose weight. Yes, watch food intake especially at work. They say if you have a job where you sit you need to force yourself to get up every 30 mins to walk. down the hall. Nurses around here do work but also sit a lot. Good luck
  • Try cardio for 40mins. When I say cardio (every other day, you'd better be wearing something like a smart watch to make sure you don't drive your heart into the red zone. On those other days, resistance train for firmness. 30 mins is a minimum so if you are desperate increase your workout time.
  • I find that as you get closer to your goal weight the more difficult it is to lose weight. No matter, did you ever think of trying something different? Mix it up, change your food but stay on within MF recommendations. Maybe try an activity to kick start the weight loss?
  • Sounds like a cardio workout.
  • Did you ever try alternating days like 35 mins cardio-no yoga and then next day do yoga? Steady state cardio running 40 mins to one hour produces a big calorie burn
  • If you choose cycling, make sure you have a proper bike-fit or you will experience pain from a bad setup. Check in with a bike club or better yet a bike shop before you start cycling. If doing an indoor spin class, again proper seat height is important. Your spin trainer should be able to advise on proper height for the…
  • Obviously none of these posts are from people with a back injury or a leg injury. Some chiropractors are using methods that the message chairs at PF use. The massage chairs will not be able to replace chiropractors but they offer and option to use in between seeking a chiro or doctor. For example the "knocking and kneeding…
  • I thought that catching a cold could be due to touching the same surface as the person that has the cold. A cold is a germ and a virus can be passed on in the same manner. So, for those of you that don't mind sitting in somebody else's sweat puddle be aware that others do not want to catch what ever it is you have. If…
  • I don't know your spin experience so I will recommend the basics. I use a road bike mounted on a fluid resistance trainer. I have a cyclo-computer mounted on the bike. I use a specific bike training video. OK, so a fluid resistance trainer is about the quietest type of trainer. The cyclo-computer will keep me honest. What…
  • To break a plateau, I suggest that you "change it up" As you become more fit, I find that you don't burn as many calories your HR should be lower. Congrats! You're fit! I find I have to add to the length of my ride or change and climb hills. I might have to add more weight when I am in the gymn or add another rep. I have…
  • My question is, Can you isolate your calorie burn? For example what is your calorie burn for 1 day without doing a 2-3 hours of exercise? Then, just isolate what you burn with exercise. With fitbit, I am not sure you can isolate. You might be able to try to look at fitbit before exercise starts record that calorie reading.…
  • OK, I have a different take on why to drink water. 1) drinking 64oz of water helps to get rid of toxins in the body when you eliminate, even excess fat stored. 2) drinking water also helps reduce blood sugar glucose levels helps it to remain normal. 3) The diet foods you find in a box in the frozen food section of the food…
  • A Jersey Boy here, greetings back.
  • My Father is in a nursing home and was admitted when he had type 2 diabetes. If he were to be at home he would not be with us today. The nursing home he is in has a dietician on staff. The nurses as well as doctors and dietician has him on a diet. They watch his carb intake as well as sugar, He is doing well. Being on this…
  • I think the problems is the activity level. When we were younger we might have played sports in school which practice could have been for 2 hours. Then after coming home maybe we would do a pick-up game. Maybe we would use a push lawnmower to cut the grass and then meet the gang for whatever. It's tough, I know I have…
  • Sometimes we overlook the simple things. First with a manual powered bike and if you live where it's hilly, you can put the bike in the car and drive it to a flatter area. Cornering? Unless you are in the Time Trial for the Tour de France, you really do not have to lean in or out. Also remember to enjoy the ride
  • I sometimes talk to a nutritionist...She informs me that when we are in starvation mode (eating less calories) our bodies hold on to everything because it does not know what it will get next time. This gives you the feeling of being full ( That is my problem). So, what I need to do (is make sure I get the same amount of…

  • Do you walk the same 3.4 miles? If you do walk the same miles do you get the same results? I use a garmin when I ride a bicycle, sometimes it loses the satelite when I ride under a thick grouping of trees. I use a garmin gps and post to the STRAVA site. The STRAVA site does state that the GPS can lose the satelite and…

  • Theories a dime a dozen. Yes, if you put abolene on your entire body and then go do a workout how do you know you are not losing weight because of the workout? So the abolene theory is the same as if you a wearing those sauna suits to increase sweat while doing a workout. Reminds me of the ole high school wrestlers that…
