  • You could try intermittent fasting
  • Hey all, I'm 5'7" and up to 135 from 125 just a few months ago :/ I'm trying to get to 120 by drinking less and I just started crossfit! Add me :)
  • I just did day 2! I have been lifting weights for a while but my arms are still so sore from just these two days, I love it :)
  • NAME OF RECIPE: Perfect summer pasta salad INGREDIENTS: - 1 zucchini - 1 yellow squash - 1C peas (thawed if using frozen) - juice from 1 lemon - 1/2C fresh basil leaves, coarsely chopped - 4C brown rice pasta, or whole wheat if you prefer - 2 chicken sausages, cooked - 1T olive oil - 1/4C feta cheese - salt and pepper…
  • I think strength first, then cardio. And they don't necessarily have to be separate days, since you could take it easy in your cardio class if you lifted pretty hard. But you don't want to be fatigued and lazy when lifting, so do that first I would think!
  • Great thanks! I'll check it out :)
  • Checking in ladies Alcohol: doing better, going canoeing tomorrow so that might involve drinking... Eating: awesome, still until like 8 pm. Oh well, if I am really that hungry that I stuff my face at night I must not be eating enough during the day, right? But... I've gained 4 pounds! That's basically everything I lost…
  • I made this chili: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ellie-krieger/three-bean-and-beef-chili-recipe/index.html (exactly except subbed ground turkey for beef) We froze it in freezer bags and just heated it up on the fire in a pot! Perfect. Also, chicken sausages with onions and bell peppers. Eggs and bacon for breakfast?…
  • Are you from Oregon/Washington? I'm from Oregon
  • I just noticed that although the scale has actually been moving up, I have less cellulite on my butt! Sorry if that's too much info, but that was one of my goals! Still a work in progress, but at least there's progress. I had so little butt muscle that even a normal amount of fat looked bad. But now, even though the amount…
  • Checking in: Eating clean - going really well each day until about 7pm... I don't know how to fix this! My fiance's mom sent a little goodie box with candy and for some reason, once the clock strikes 7, I give myself license to eat as much as I can before I fall asleep. Might be a trigger food... That and cereal. I guess I…
  • I think only a nutritionist can truly tell you how many calories to eat. That said, I think everyone on here agrees that you have to eat at least 1200 calories a day (before subtracting exercise) to avoid having your body think you're starving. No one can seem to agree on whether or not to eat your exercise calories back…
  • Grad student here!
  • Same problem here! All of mine are tied tight so they cut into my neck :( I have had some luck with Victoria's Secret tops because you can get them by cup size and some of them have support
  • Good chats on calories burned from weight lifting. I have a HRM, and whether or not the calories burned are accurate, my heart rate while lifting hard is similar to that while running (steady state, 6mph usually outside so small hills and uneven ground). Maybe all the non-compound exercises people do on machines and…
  • Kabobs! With chicken or shrimp and lots of veggies like cherry tomatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, bell peppers, etc. Super easy and delicious
  • Hahaha panda_jack. My two cents: If you were more open-minded to the struggles of people smaller than you like myself, you would know that a common problem with "skinny" people, especially girls, is that many of us still can still be considered obese because we have unhealthy body fat percentages. So, rather than judging…
  • OK I'm so ready to get started tomorrow! I've been slacking since we said we were starting Monday. I did manage to do all my workouts this week though. Unfortunately when I went grocery shopping my fiance got to buy all sorts of yummy looking not-unprocessed foods that now I can't eat. Maybe I'll see how many I can squeeze…
  • I do the same thing! I am full of excuses in the morning. The only thing that works for me is working out with a friend. I would really like to get into the habit though, because by the end of the day I have even more excuses
  • Awesome bought it thanks!
  • My name is Natalya and my goal in general is to become more toned. I don't care about the scale or sizes really, both are fine where they are, but my arms for example squish out and look flabby when they're resting at my sides. They look good when flexing, but I want some consistent definition to them! I would use a body…
  • I'm really busy and sometimes forget to eat a proper dinner (eek I know) and I can TOTALLY feel it in the morning. I can barely do half my scheduled workout. Good meals the night before and for breakfast really make a difference I think.
  • Awesome thread! Kale (so cheap and good for a snack or with dinner) Fat free Greek yogurt Quinoa, barley, brown rice Costco's big bag of frozen stir-fry veggies Oatmeal Chia/flax seeds/oils Whey protein for after workouts Ground turkey I'm trying to think of more but it seems my diet has gotten pretty routine. I'm totally…
  • I am curious about this too... I was going to suggest neufchatel cheese, but it seems to have the same stabilizers and such in there. Sorry, not much help!
  • I make a recipe called Cowboy Caviar (I think its the same as on allrecipes.com) and it uses pickled jalapenos. You could try pickling your own since you have so many on hand! Try the recipe for Cowboy Caviar though, it's awesome
  • That's awesome! Keep up the good work

  • I have a Timex HRM and I forget I'm wearing the chest strap. To the previous poster, I think the HRMs are all pretty accurate, maybe you're not subtracting your maintanance calories from the report from the Timex? However, I do agree that it may not be as accurate as other brands because it doesn't ask for gender
  • Your HRM doesn't know you're on MFP. It simply looks at how fast your heart is beating, and uses a VO2 formula to predict how many calories you burned over that period of time. If you wear your HRM and sit on the couch, it still says you burned calories. So yes, you should subtract about a calorie for each minute of…
