  • I hate it when people go to the gym in packs and all hang around socializing and dominating a whole section of the gym instead of actually working out. I don't know what it is, but just about every gym I've been to only has one power rack. I use a power rack every day that I work out at the gym (I go there specifically to…
  • Salt, pepper, and HOT SAUCE! yum. I actually never eat it with fruit.
  • 170, 5'9", 10/12 in pants and medium or large in tops. Sometimes I have to go up a size in tops simply because the arm length is too short... that's why I stick with 1/2 or 3/4 sleeves instead of long sleeves.
  • Honestly, you will do whatever you want to do. None of us can influence your opinion or what you feel. That said, my advice is to move on. I agree with the other people on here. He hasn't shown that he respects you. He says he is broke and can't afford the race he apparently wanted to do... but he can go out to the bar…

  • My weight it between Malta and Australia. However, I'm also 5'10". I am as tall or taller than just about everyone I've met in other countries... and I'm also trying to build muscle.
  • I like Minecraft a lot for that. You could also play Fallen Earth or Ryzom (f2p mmorpgs).
  • Take your measurements. I think that it's a more accurate view of your progress than relying on the scale. Weight can fluctuate all the time depending on water retention, etc. I think many people get discouraged because they don't see progress as much as they would like to when using a scale to measure progress. Also, if…

  • I use half and half. When I want some sweetness in my coffee, I add a little honey.
  • I had a crappy Valentine's Day. I made some very yummy food and was probably only a little over my goals (well maybe not for fat intake), but got into a big fight with my bf that has carried over for a few days. On the bright side, I did start Stage 4 yesterday and it's pretty good. Doing push presses again and slowly but…
  • I'm reading The Zahir (Coelho, hard copy from the library), Inheritance (Paolini, checked out from the library on my Kindle), and next up is Veronika Decides to Die (Coelho and also a hard copy library book).
  • I bought these in about November of last year: http://www.amazon.com/Valeo-Womens-Meshback-Lifting-Gloves/dp/B001E6L95Y/ref=sr_1_70?s=exercise-and-fitness&ie=UTF8&qid=1329236868&sr=1-70 They were cheap and they work well, but I think I'm going to get a new pair soon. I like the mesh because air can get to my hands, but I'd…
  • How are you doing prone cobra? In the book, I believe it has you keeping your feet on the ground. You can lift your legs up straight behind you instead (balance on your pelvis) or start using light dumbbells in your hands it it's too easy.
  • Dorito Dudes. That is very silly to me. He's asking for an injury by doing that.
  • bump I'm a few months into NROLFW but want to put these other sources (Stronglifts, Starting Strength) on my "To Read" list.
  • Can I just say, I love doing dumbbell snatches and weighted back extensions? They are definitely my favorite exercises from this stage.
  • Love it! Do you mind if I share it with some friends who have been asking me about weight training?
  • I've had a few people feel my bicep muscles after my boyfriend commented on them one time. He put his hand on my arm and I flexed and he said, "Wow, your biceps are getting big! They're going to get bigger than mine!" I keep flexing to see that the muscles are actually there. I've never had any muscle on my arms…
  • Thanks for your replies!
  • Yay! Great job! I'm jealous about the planks. I get so tired by the end of the workout that I have a tough time holding plank for 60 seconds. In Stage 3, we do 3 sets of 90 second planks. I was just happy that I was able to hold plank for 60 seconds three times. Wood chops get tough too.
  • Because the muscles you make will continue to burn calories even after you stop working out.
  • I'm actually guilty of this. In my defense, it was just filled with regular water and I was reusing it at the gym. Also, it was the plastic bottle, not the glass one. Someone did comment on it though.
  • Swimming or weight training might be good options. I don't really have experience with this kind of thing, but they seem like they would be easier on your achilles.
  • I felt the same way when I was doing the elliptical for 45 minutes 3 or 4 times per week. However, I am now doing a different program where I'm lifting heavy weights and doing moves like deadlifts and squats. I really REALLY enjoy the program, enjoy seeing my body change, and enjoy seeing my strength increase, so that…
  • I wasn't a huge fan with all the crunch exercises either. They're okay, but I'd rather be lifting weights. That being said, I am definitely impressed and pleased with how my stomach area has shrunk since starting this program, and that wouldn't have been possible without all the exercise (even the icky crunches).
  • I'm on Stage 3 and I still can't do a proper push up. All during Stage 1, I did 30 degree push ups but I know my form wasn't the best and I know I wasn't going down as far as I should have been. I think I ended up messing up my progress because I tried to move on to 30 degrees before I was ready. I switched up to 45 degree…
