  • Mine is similar to this^... While the scale kept creeping up over the years, I would say to myself, "well, at least it's not 200. At least I'm under that." Then, when it crept to over 200, I would say, at least it's not 210. I'm under that. Etc, Etc. When it was Christmas time last year, and I dedided to weigh myself, and…
  • from michigan as well, by the way, nice sparty pic!
  • My husband and I live in Michigan, U.S., and he is getting the gastric sleeve tomorrow! He is so excited. I am a nurse aide, and he is currently on disability. Hopefully, when he loses the weight, that can change (he has a bad back). There are many changes coming down the pike, but we are hopeful and excited. Good night,…
  • I do the midnight to midnight thing, too,and split it up in four hour increments. But, whatever works for you.
  • Sorry to hear about all the drama going on during this time for you, drewgirl56. Do you have your own house to go to, or do you live there? In my opinion, if at all possible, I would surround yourself with supportive people to help you through this. Make a plan and try to map out your days if possible, too, such as what…
  • If your hair is thinning, you may need biotin and or iron supplements. That's what they told us at our last nutrition class. I would just call the office where you had it done, and they should be able to tell you for sure.
  • Wow, that's a lot of prep classes! I have not had the gastric sleeve, but my husband is on the 7th. He is in my profile pic as well. I've joined this group to see what works for others who have had this done, and I am hoping to get him to join, too! I'm sure it will help me as well to communicate with others who have done…
  • Sure, I'll join. Current weight: 153.2 Goal weight: 148 for March 1st.
  • If you haven't been active at all or doing any kind of exercise, I would say that it could feel like it's killing you. It's moderate to high intensity. I would say do what you can at first until you get the hang of it. If needed, modify the moves. Like instead of jumping, lift your legs up one at a time or something. Any…
  • greek yogurt?
  • Thanks for the suggestions. I went to the q and a seminar as well as the nutrition seminar, and I think I have a pretty good handle on everything. I was the only spouse or support person that came to the second one. I couldn't believe it. One of the suggestions that they gave was to get a sippy cup, esp. for people that…
  • I totally know how you feel. I needed to see this post, because now I know I am not alone. The thing is, is that these foods you only eat once a year, and even though you COULD make "Christmas" cookies next month, but it doesn't seem to be the same. Now, even the focus in the supermarket will be losing weight, and not so…
  • I'm assuming you're a woman by your stats. At 5'5", and 134, you are at a healthy weight. I am 5'5", and I am 151 lb. (34 years old). I would love to have a 27 inch waist at this point. If anything, if I were you, I would eat at maintenance, or somewhat below, but do some strength training, and some cardio. 1000 calories…
  • It's not so bad if the child actually ate something of nutrition first, but I've seen it where the kid didn't even eat their meat and potatoes first and then all they ate was the sweets. My kids have gotten belly aches, and my daughter has thrown up before from eating too much sweets. I don't think it's very funny, either.
  • I am in a similar situation. I have noticed that life has been getting in the way of my fitness goals as well. Myself, I have taken the plunge so to speak and put my calories to maintenence for the holidays. And, whatever I exercise I am not eating back the calories. I have not fit a whole lot of exercise in lately, but a…
  • How do you like T25? Have you done Insanity, and which do you like better? I only have the first month's workouts for Insanity (copy from a friend), so I can't speak for the second month, but the 25 minutes and done idea sounds good.
  • If she was walking slow on the treadmill, it is possible to exercise for three hours, but it is unnecessary to work out for so long. A resting heart rate should not be high. It should be between about 60-80, if not lower. And, working out for three minutes should not get you up to 200. That's too high for anyone. You…
  • Maybe a sugar-free fudgsicle would calm the chocolate craving? Or, have a fiber one bar with chocolate that could add extra fiber in the process. If you have a craving for chocolate, then nothing but chocolate will calm that craving. I've heard, though, that procrastination can help. What I mean by that is if you feel the…
  • Amazing job! You both look happier and more confident as well.
  • I have mixed in some ranch seasoning (powder stuff), and used it as a veggie dip. You can load up the veggies with your "dip", and not feel guilty. The recipe I first saw tells you to put the cottage cheese in a food processor to make it creamy, but I don't.
  • You probably finally hit puberty. Just kidding. But, seriously, even with being shorter, 113 lb. is a good weight. Don't worry about it. You are on the low end of normal. I'm sure that you don't look fat, even though I don't see a pic of you.Women have a little fat in the tummy area. God made us this way to have babies one…
  • You knew how he was before you got married, so unless he drastically changed, I don't see what the problem is. You married him the way he is, and you shouldn't try to change him. He's got to want to change, you can't change him.
  • I would stay where I was if I were you. You don't need to lose any more. You are at the lower end of a healthy weight. Congratulations!!!! You look good.
  • Maybe you burned more than you thought in workouts, or were more active some of the days? Or, maybe you overestimated the calories?
  • I second what others are saying about the body fat. Only a calorie deficit will lower the fat around the muscles. Aerobic exercise will make your heart stronger, and help your muscles get somewhat stronger, too. But, to "tone" as you call it, then you will have to do weight bearing exercises. Bicep curls will work the…
  • I have the Wii Zumba Core, and I used it practically every day for the first six months or so when I started my weight loss journey. It was definitely a workout. It really depends on what game you get, I think, and how much effort you actually put into it. some games you can "cheat" at by flicking your wrist just right so…
  • Thank you for the links, lauracearosa! I printed some off, and I can't wait to try them. I know my mom has been mixing the pure pumpkin in her oatmeal and adding fat free half and half. Not sure how many calories it is, but it sounds like it would be good for you.
  • Any ideas on what to do with pumpkin pie mix, other than pumpkin pie? (They're the ones that all you have to do is add evaporated milk and egg to). I got a good deal on them and now I have 12 cans!
  • I would say that to lose the weight, it is 100% calorie deficit. This is easier, though, with exercise (because you can eat more!) and eating properly nutritious meals. My husband gets upset at me when I tell people that I have lost weight by using MFP, and counting calories. Sure, I tell people that I exercise, too, but I…
