  • Yeah, I feel you. Certainly you can lose weight with PCOS, and you will if you're eating at a deficit. But I do find there is a significant difference in the rate of weight loss. Even low-carb, I don't lose weight as fast as many other people or as fast as I did before I developed PCOS. But without low carb, weight loss is…
  • Weighing every day is really only useful if you are going to take a more scientific, long-term observational approach. Otherwise, it can be discouraging, anxiety-inducing, and highly stressful. And completely unnecessary. I weigh daily and have done so for years, and I use the Libra app. I observe the trends but actually I…
  • I do 4:3 and find it a simpler way to structure my eating than low calorie every day. This is not a VLCD. I average between 1300-1400 calories a day (some weeks closer to 1600), and for my height and activity level that's not crazy. I like using the new feature that averages your calories for you over a week's time, so now…

  • Well this thread has certainly belied the notion that it's "simple" figuring out how to eat so as to lose weight. It also demonstrates why all of this can be very tiring, especially if you're not a teenager dieting for the first time, but a near-60 woman who has been on this train for decades, like OP. Is 50 grams protein…
  • So a milkshake?
  • I 100% agree with this post. It makes me feel good because this is how I've been feeling. The obsessive feeling is gone and replaced by appreciation: for my body, for my own strength and fortitude, and for good, satisfying food!
  • Have you been to the Reddit keto forum? I'm not currently eating keto but when I was I found that place to be extremely helpful with a lot of resources listed on the side.
  • Don't deprive yourself and don't binge just because you're already over. Just make sure to stick to your goals for the rest of the day.
  • This is what it means to be vegan, lots of people are. I found a great site the other day with a ton of advice on how to cook vegetables: http://www.vegancoach.com
  • Two I like are Lean Cuisine Steak Portobello with broccoli and Healthy Choice Honey Balsamic Chicken. Lean Cuisine Thai Chicken Spring Rolls were awesome but I have a coconut intolerance and didn't read the label carefully so I paid dearly for that deliciousness. I frequently eat these types of meals because chronic pain…
  • You have brought joy and inspiration. I quickly googled bacon donuts, found out there's a food festival soon in my city where The Homer will be served (donut with vanilla glaze, raw sugar and chocolate bacon chunks), and now I have wonderful weekend plans.
  • OK, first I don't think there's anything wrong with eating more at night. I think what helps is having some structure rather than mindless grazing. I honestly don't think it matters as much what/when the food is, it's the lack of mindfulness that causes problems. Second, if you are not a breakfast person and don't desire…
  • A pound a week is pretty much perfect weight loss for someone as small as you right now, it's actually rather speedy. In high school you hadn't finished puberty yet, you probably won't look the same even if you hit 115. I reached my high school weight as an adult and it wasn't the same at all. But I totally understand…
  • I just don't want to eat healthy and don't know how to get myself to change. Salad feels like a waste of space on my plate and honestly many times I'd rather see that space be empty than filled with non-starchy vegetables. I can and often do happily eat just meat or meat and starch. If I put salad on my plate it's often…
  • I have PCOS too and low carbing really helped me more than anything (not that I'm eating particularly low carb at the moment haha, maybe half the week). Ok after writing this I see this is an old post but you bumped it so I'm not sure if you're still in the same conundrum so I'll post anyway. A few tips: - Don't count…
  • Yeah, that's a concern and I hope you have found what works for you. I felt that way the first time I tried every other day. 90% (my rough guess) of people who do it seem to struggle with the high days. Everyone thinks it will be the low days but it's the high days. Dr. Krista Varady (author of The-Every-Other-Day Diet and…
  • Side note: I had to look up Flexible Dieting and I thank you for using that term. It's IIFYM, the diet the majority of MFP forum regulars seem to follow. But by only having IIFYM as a search term before I was missing a lot of information. I don't do it although I'm considering it as a way to better manage my up days. I…
  • Breakfast! I had Weight Watchers Cheerios because I just wanted a big ol' bowl of cereal.
  • I just made the strangest noise upon seeing that. The sound of desire in its most primal state. Nragggghhhahhhhhggghh or something like that. Nragggghhhahhhhhggghh
  • I like occasional meal replacements for intermittent fasting but I never feel like making protein shakes. I use protein powder in other things sometimes. Blending a shake is extra ingredients to set out and dishes to wash. It's a shame because I have a blender bottle and everything. I find meal replacements like the high…
  • I don't think you can do it on the mobile app, but on the website you should be able to see carbs per meal, and protein and fat and whatever else you track. On the website it should show each macronutrient per meal as well as a total for the day.
  • With this diet I thought you're only supposed to weigh once a month? The fluctuations are bound to be dramatic and for women the weight loss is often slower than for men. Your measurements might be a better indicator. Are you a member of the 5:2 fast diet website? This page in particular has some good advice that might…
  • I'm a stairstep loser and I understand your frustration with those suggestions. Are you tracking measurements?
  • How do people not eat the whole bar? This is why I suck at diets, especially when I was a teen or in my early 20s and it seemed all the other girls talked about how they only had "a bite" of this or that.
  • Net carbs! Subtract fiber from the count. I struggled with fat too, but now I'm adding butter and oil to a lot more things. Eat fatty meats and nuts. Cream cheese is good, heavy cream is good, these add fat. Avoid anything fat free or low fat. Most importantly for your macros, make sure you're actually logging every fat…
  • Well that looks amazing! I love pork chops for breakfast! I had crêpes with homemade chocolate whipped cream, and I licked my plate, but now I honestly want a pork chop so bad.
  • Sometimes hardly any, other times none. I keep working on it
  • What a great thread! My biggest issue is shame. Shame about my weight, which doesn't inspire me to lose but actually convinces me it's impossible to be anything but obese. Shame about the kinds of foods I like, which makes me want to hide when I eat. Shame over overeating, describing my eating as "shoveling" food,…
