  • Now, this probably won't be an acceptable idea; but ask for a glass of ice. Pour your cold beer into the cold ice....it makes the one beer last longer and the ice keeps the beer colder along the way. And heck, if the ice melts while you're drinking than you're adding more water into your beer enjoyment. Just an idea....and…
  • Sorry I can't help you with those brand names. I've purchased different types; but look for whey protein......and as with any item; the less 'stuff' on the ingredient list; it's probably better for you. There are many 'healthy-guru' types on MFP so I hope you get some responses! Best wishes!
  • Heck, I'm a 54yr old woman and I'm eating 1450 calories a day (losing 1lb per wk at that level). You may want to do some custom settings and up your calories a little. Increase protein intake, lower the sodium. Best wishes, but like a previous poster said, without knowing your 'body specifications' it's hard to give good…
  • Hi Pattie, I also got a shocker from my Dr. this past Spring. She told me if I kept gaining 3-5 lbs every 6 months that I'd be heading down the wrong path with more medicine to take. I always knew that I was putting on the pounds; but was having too much fun eating and being lazy. I'll send you a friend request and maybe…
  • Go to the grocery store and pick up two 5lb bags of sugar....hell, yeah, you'll notice it! I've lost 16lbs and have dropped from a 18W size to a regular 16. My face is thinner....my waist is 3inches smaller. I'm looking forward to the next 20 lbs!!!!
  • I just posted the following on Maggee71's Introduction...and not to be repetitive but it may help. I'll be 55 in June 2013 and my goal was to lose 35 lbs by the time I turned 55. It was something I said ... and something I really wanted to do.....but in the back of my mind I always gave myself an "out". I truly thought…

  • I'm actually losing 1 lb. per week and after the weeks keep passing my....I've hit 16 lbs. so far. Heck this is the first time in 5 years that that scale has been going down and not up! I know that my Dr. will be so pleased with me because she wasn't 3 mos. ago when I was there! She gave me a cholesterol pill to take and…

  • Not sure what weight I was when the group started up....but I'm down 15.5 lbs. And would love to be down another 10 lbs by Halloween. Gotta get off my *kitten* again and start moving!!!!:ohwell:
  • To get up and out of bed by 5:15 a.m. and hit the streets for a 2.5 mile walk each morning before work....for at least 4 out of 5 work days. Then, to get up and out of bed by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday & Sunday to do my 5 mile walk each weekend day. Gotta get going before it starts snowing. Then I'll be banished to my treadmill…
  • I'd really love to start kayaking next spring / summer. Over the winter months, I want to work on my upper body strength. Got a little bit of flabby arms happening now. Until the snow flies in Syracuse, NY, I'm going to continue walking and losing the flab around my middle and my "bum" (I think that's the term you all use…
  • I LOVE this advice. You hit it right....always looking at the numbers before putting it in the mouth! :flowerforyou:
  • Forgot to add in the grated carrot and roasted sunflower seeds. Delish~~~~
  • Tuna Salad..... instead of mayo, use 2tblsp of tostito's creamy spinach dip .... top w a slice (or two) of swiss and fresh sliced tomator on grilled (or pressed) marble rye. Don't knock it till you try it~
  • Hmmmm, now that's a challenge. Do you live close to a market / grocery store? Either way, I'd pick up vegetables once per week. Cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, spaghetti squash, fresh tomatoes or canned (low sodium). Chicken broth (low sodium). You could steam / microwave up batches of veggies all week long and pack them…
  • I know you said you hate fruits....have you considered a blender to make fruit smoothies.....don't go out to Dunkin Donuts and buy those....too much artificial sugar and stuff. Not sure what else to tell you. But eating fresh fruit, veggies will really help you .... the natural sugars are so much better for you. Try to…
  • Try this calculation also. Go to: www.quickbmr.com.what-is-tdee.html You enter in your weight, your height, and age, etc. The BMR figure (what you would eat just to survive) is one figure; The TDEE factoring in your activity level is another figure. So, go to that website and do your own entries and see what happens. I'm…

  • :flowerforyou: I did weight watchers once .... and it did teach me a few things. One of them being that only you can control your weight gain and weight loss. I'm happy with the 1 pound a week that I have lost. And tomorrow I hope to hit the 15 lb. mark. I have another 20+ to go; but heck I'm so pleased with what I've done…
  • Hiding under her hat! :smokin:
  • I'm salivating just thinking about this. I think I'm going to thaw the frozen bing cherries that I have and add them to oatmeal tomorrow. What a great idea. THANKS!
  • Congratulations and I'm so proud of you (as I'm sure many others will be, too)!!!! It sounds like you've got the determination and have acquired the skills to take this further! Enjoy your evening and celebrate!
  • I love hoisin sauce (chinese food section) on salmon; sides are Wild rice pilaf, asparagus and broccoli.
  • Hi, Holly! We are all in the same boat to some extent. We've all been fatter than we are now; skinnier than we are now; and we all ride the weight train (not the same thing as the soul train) :smokin: This site is so good for motivation and support. I never feel alone and have 'friended' some nice people who keep in…
  • While I look at the donuts and cookies and all that other semi-bad stuff that people bring in to work, I'm not indulging / grazing along with the others. I do treat myself to frozen yogurt ice cream and factor it in to my daily calorie intake (exercise or not).
