Hi, everyone! I've been crocheting since an elderly neighbor taught me at the age of eight, but I didn't really start moving forward with gusto in my craft until the last five years or so. I typically make a lot of blankets, and my work is sought after in the local community because I can crochet graphgans (graphs with…

Hey there! This group isn't super active so I'm not surprise your post went a couple weeks with no answer! First thing is, don't stress too terribly much about the weight you've already gained. At this point, that's water under the bridge, and trying to restrict your intake too much from here on out can have a negative…

Ow--my eyes-- Also, what was your point?

Protein powder may not be a bad idea for me, either. I have GD so I have to watch the amount of sugar in them, though. I just need a way to easily get in more calories.

I used to be an adamant believer of CICO, and I still believe the math/science behind it is sound. However, now I'm pregnant and I have gestational diabetes, and I have been forced to count my carbs and calories. I have to be extremely careful with my carb intake so that I don't spike my blood sugar, because I want my…

Sounds like you're talking about your food like you're looking at the old food guide pyramid. In that case, the top of the pyramid was "fats, oils, and sweets", which is where salad dressing would go.

I'm having to adjust my macros right now because I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes. The general recommendation for those with gestational diabetes is 2:1 protein:carbs, with no more than 175 grams of carbs in a day. I was in the "a calorie is a calorie" boat for a long time, but no longer. I'm 25 weeks today,…

I first got onto MFP right after I got my Mirena, and I did just fine. I went from 157 to 138 in just a couple months, and it really helped that I was breastfeeding at the time. On a side note, I've stopped recommending Mirena as a viable birth control because, a year and a half after I got it, I had an ectopic pregnancy.…

WIC in my area does pay for peanut butter and milk/milk products, so I frequently go that route for protein. Either buy your meat in bulk, or try to buy it frozen. Listen to your hunger cues. If you feel hungry, eat; doing things like that will help make sure that you are eating enough for both you and baby.

I'm pregnant, so I'm less concerned about drinking my calories than many people are on here. I limit my caffeinated beverages to one a day (this baby can't tolerate coffee, so one 12-oz Mountain Dew it is). Besides that, I'll usually have a 16oz glass of juice (usually white grape); at least one 16oz glass of milk; a…

A great compromise is to make your shake pack a little more nutritional punch. I'm in love with chocolate shakes too, but I find that a good substitute is a chunky monkey smoothie. It has milk, vanilla yogurt, frozen bananas, peanut butter, and chocolate syrup. It makes a good breakfast substitute.

Claritarejoice, I can totally feel your pain! I've actually lost 10 pounds because of morning sickness, and because my appetite has had a hard time getting back to normal. Even though I've lost instead of gained, I was in maternity clothes by week 9! I have a HUGE baby bump compared to the bump I had at 19 weeks with my…

I was so happy when I felt and, and since it's continued, I know for certain what it was! On Easter I was 16w4d, and this will be my third child.

I thought the same with my first two pregnancies (I've never been under any special caloric restrictions during pregnancy), but with this one, I've really had a hard time gaining weight! I had a hard time eating during the first trimester this time around, and it seems like my stomach shrank or something during that time,…

Hey, there! I started out a little bigger than I wanted to be, too. I started out at 173 pounds when, while pregnant, I'm used to starting out at 140-145. 175 was my final weight before delivery with my first two! In my opinion, pregnancy is a time where my "perfect" body takes about a 1.5-2 years off. It doesn't give me…

For me, it's been fruit, fruit, fruit! This baby is in love with fruit and hates chocolate, so I've been keeping lots of fresh fruit in the house. My stock it getting low right now--all I have at the moment is a half-full bag of Fuji apples and a honeydew melon! I could really go for some berries. I love having my fruit…

During church on Easter morning, I felt my baby kick for the first time this pregnancy!

I think that's a great idea! I would love to do the same thing, but the last time I joined a gym, it didn't really end well. I have a lot of family and financial problems that precluded me from going, so now I just go on short, brisk walks where I can stay close to home. Kudos to you for taking the initiative to get on top…

I set my own calorie and macro goals in custom settings so that I eat about 2200 calories a day in the second trimester. I plan on increasing that by about 100 calories in the third. I don't do enough exercise to warrant eating any more than that. If I'm gaining weight too quickly under those parameters, I just slightly…

I'm actually in the opposite boat. I've been craving tons and tons of fruit, and you can bet I've been happy about that! My main aversions have been coffee and chocolate, and I've been wanting to reduce my dependency on those anyway. For Strawberry and her happy tuna craving, have you tried canned salmon? It's similar in…

Speak to a psychiatrist. It sounds like you have some body image issues that would cause you to act in ways that could potentially damage your health. If your doctor tells you that you should eat properly instead of trying to lose weight and you want to do exactly the opposite because you have a problem with the way you…

I am 25 years old and have two boys, 2 and 4 years old. I'm now 6 weeks pregnant with my 4th pregnancy (had an ectopic Thanksgiving 2014). My due date is September 2016. I'm on MFP to log my food intake and make sure I'm maintaining a balanced diet during my pregnancy. I want a complication-free pregnancy, and I'm doing…

I have a ton of candy left over from Christmas, and I make it a point to allow myself a piece or two each day. I do that in addition to my eight cups of water, daily green smoothie, lean meat, and 16 oz. of milk per day. I see no reason to deprive myself of my sweets, and I believe in balance and moderation. I also have a…

My worst symptom this pregnancy has got to be the fatigue. I can barely get moving throughout the day, and even after ten hours of sleep at night, I still crash just as hard the next night. I think that second on the list would probably be the advanced sense of smell--the outrageous amounts of BO at the doctors' office…

I'm 6 weeks right now and also had an ectopic back at Thanksgiving 2014. This is my fourth pregnancy and I have two happy, healthy boys right now. I'm logging to make sure I'm staying healthy and balanced to minimize the chance of complications. Also had preeclampsia with my first.

Walk, walk, walk! I love walking, especially during pregnancy! It can be done anywhere, anytime, at any pace, for any length of time, with anyone (or no one)! Its low impact also makes it ideal. I would love to swim too, but don't have access to a pool.

I'm on the opposite end of the pregnancy spectrum--6 weeks here! But I've been through 2 pregnancies and I feel your pain. That quart of ice cream just looks so amazing! I craved chocolate and full-fat cheddar in my second pregnancy quite a lot. I would melt down chocolate chips with cream to make a truffle ganache and eat…

I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow; just found out. Due September 7, 2016. This is my fourth pregnancy and will be my third baby. Unfortunately, I had an ectopic pregnancy Thanksgiving 2014.

Good question.

Neat--I just started the green smoothie thing too! Simply Green Smoothies has some great recipes, along with a formula about the best ratio of liquid, fruit, and leafy greens. Typically it's 1 cup greens, 1 cup liquid, and 1.5 cups fruit. http://simplegreensmoothies.com/recipes
