  • I'm 28 and I have been what I consider to be recovered for a few years now, but I struggled with the whole spectrum of eating disorders for all of my teen years, and then continued to struggle with disordered thoughts around food and exercise well into my recovery, and all I have to say is you're doing great for even…
  • Waking up at 3:30... but the alternative is to do it in the evening, which I would dread more.
  • Manassas here! I'm originally from California but have been in Virginia since 2015
  • I would recommend that you create your own recipe for "homemade blended veggie shake" and avoid most things in the food database that are "homemade", since these can vary drastically. Someone else's veggie shake might be twice the serving size of your smoothie and use completely different ingredients, which would result in…
  • Yaaass friend I have been where you are at least once. I try to be positive as much as possible but am also a hopeless realist. Sending request
  • You can customize it by going through settings -> my goals -> calorie, carbs, etc goals. However, 10 lbs in three weeks is a lot, even if you have a lot of weight to lose.. how much more weight do you want to lose, and in what way are you trying to change your calories goals?
  • As @Machka9 already said, machines aren't always accurate, and wearables are not exempt. I wear a Garmin watch and it also gives me a little bit of variance in calories burned from day to day even though I run about the same distance every time, and I have been running on a treadmill for most of the winter. I chalk it up…
  • "I'll just stick to my diet pills and not eating bread after 1pm and I'll be fine" And then she walked out of the office and the other fit girl and I looked at each other like "srsly" 😐
  • I'm currently a fan of Kos, but they only offer vanilla and chocolate flavors for their protein powder. I've also used Orgain and Naturade and liked both.
  • From Redondo Beach, California, but currently live in northern Virginia not far from DC
  • I have a two year old son, work full time, and am taking classes online! I still work out and try to eat healthy, but I totally get into some junk food moods here and there. I'll send you an add request 😃
  • When do you usually have your meals? My concern is actually that you're only getting 5 and 1/2 hours of sleep, but I guess that's not related to your question.. Your body and metabolism don't reset at the end of 24 hours, and you are literally always burning calories so the timing of your meals is a little bit less…
  • Congratulations on your academic achievement!! That's a huge accomplishment. I'm 27 and just started taking online classes last year to finish my bachelor's degree. I'm not terribly familiar with UC symptoms, or it's medications and their side effects, but I'm sure there will be some people who share your experience that…
  • Adult diapers. Bulk peanut butter. Razor blades.
  • Hello, fellow runner! I'll send a friend request and anyone else can add me as well!
  • Welcome to the running club! It is typically quite welcoming and doesn't discriminate based on distance or speed 😊 I've been running for 7 years and have both increased and decreased my distance and average pace many times, for many reasons, but I've never participated/competed in a race or event. Good luck to you!
  • Welcome! I hope you succeed!
  • I run on a treadmill early in the morning during the school year (I work at a school) and also watch Netflix while I run. I have recently finished Hell on Wheels and Daredevil, and I just started watching Peaky Blinders. I recommend them all!
  • Congratulations! A lot of your weight gain will depend on your current weight and lifestyle. I started my pregnancy at a low weight and planned on gaining a set amount of weight and continued to "eat healthy" (very subjective, I know) and exercise daily, but still went over by a few lbs. My son just turned 2 and I actually…
  • Can you move your treadmill inside? I bought a treadmill in 2017 and it's much easier for me to wake up early to run in the winter when I don't have to face the cold, but it's in my garage. However, I used to run in anything above 10°F and what everyone else is saying about dressing appropriately and wearing layers is…
  • It won't do anything magical as far as weight loss goes, but eating within a certain window of time can help you stay within your "budget" and remain in a deficit. I often eat between 9-5 or 10-6 because that's just what I prefer, but I have lost AND gained weight doing this. You still have to be in a caloric deficit
  • I recommend that you check out the post "Of refeeds and diet breaks." It lists some interesting resources that discuss the benefits of having planned cheat days and diet breaks
  • Despite the science stating/supporting that running on the treadmill is easier, running outside feels easier for me both mentally and physically. I prefer to run outside, but I own a treadmill that I use during cold weather and dark early morning runs (which means November through March for me) and I typically pass the…
  • I had a similar discussion about the different between a personal trainer claiming to have nutritional knowledge and a doctor or dietician to someone the other day... It's somewhat reassuring when other people seek facts and science or scientific research/ explanations instead of blindly accepting whatever their trainer or…
  • @pennyks88 My 2 year old son sleeps with me and my husband, too, and he used to be very "needy" at night, which made it almost impossible for me to wake up early to workout without him also waking up, so I just had to muster a lot of motivation to exercise after work. Since the start of fall (I work at a school), I've been…
  • I went from conventional running shoes to minimalist shoes, as well. I also used to experience shin splints and haven't had them since I switched, but I also made a lot of changes to my running form, gait, stride length, and foot strike that I'm sure contributed to less pain and more efficient running
  • Sometimes I like to graze throughout the day but I plan for it and only eat the food that I've brought with me or that I've planned on eating (pre-logged). Just like snacks, treats, dessert, etc- if you plan for it and make it fit into your calories it's fine to continue if that's what you want to do.
  • Running is my hobby but making certain choices with regards to eating and other habits with the intent to be healthy and support my ability to run are part of my lifestyle
  • I've been mostly recovered from "active" eating disorders for a while, but I still find myself harboring some unhealthy thoughts whenever I gain a few pounds (like now, right after the holiday season). I want to lose weight yesterday and it's hard to shut down thoughts like "just excessively restrict for like a week," but…
  • Hey other toddler parents! I've got a 2 year old son and have been scheduling my workouts around what works best with his wake up times and nap times since he was born. I figure I could either force something on both of us or go with the flow and keep things a little more pleasant. He's my only child so I may not have it…
