  • I'm this way too. Do you drink coffee or tea? I stopped doing this by making myself a coffee and sipping on that while I watch. Coffee still has calories but it's not as bad as chips, cookies or some other unhealthy snack.
  • Not weird at all. I think about it every second. Always comparing myself to others. It's awful and no way to live.
  • Hi! I'm a first time mom with a 3 month old daughter. My body went crazy with the pregnancy and I ended up gaining 50 lbs and was a bit overweight to begin with. I lost quite a bit after my daughter was born and during maternity leave but still have 40 lbs to get to my goal weight. I could use all the support and…
  • I'm all too familiar with binge eating. I've been yo-yo dieting since my teens and always manage to get back to square one or even above it. Add me if you'd like and we can maybe help each other stop the cycle.
  • This is my first pregnancy and I think I first felt them at 20 weeks. I'm 31 weeks now and they're coming more frequently (about 2-3 times a day).
  • Yes, when I first started to grow out of my pre-preg clothes I bought a few pieces from Walmart. A pair of skinny jeans, two long sleeved ribbed tees, 2 camis, a long-sleeved blouse for work and two pairs of dress pants for work. I loved the quality of the jeans and the dress pants and the other items were decent…
  • I use a stationary bike anywhere from 30-45 minutes everyday at moderate intensity (130-138 beats per minute). Occasionally, when my husband does his P90x workouts, I will join in depending on which workout is on that particular day. I don't do any jumping though (only light bouncing) and weights are limited to 5 lbs. max.…
  • I'm 31 weeks pregnant with my first but DH and I would love to have our children close in age if possible. I'm just curious as to your thoughts on having children so close in age. Some people that have done it say they wouldn't do it any other way but then I have my family telling me that I'm crazy. Would love some advice…
  • This is my first pregnancy and there have been tons of surprises. I had no idea just how many parts of your body it affects which for me feels like every single one. What has surprised me most has been the stuffy nose and congestion, sciatica pain, carpel tunnel and shortness of breath. I feel like I was short of breath…
  • I have a great one to add and it just happened to me about an hour ago. A lady I know saw me and asked me how I am feeling. She was smiling and being nice so I said "not too bad..." Then she asked "you're having a girl aren't you?" When i said yes she said "you can tell by your face you look so different. They say with…
  • Thanks for your information and for posting the articles. I'm looking foward to reading them.
  • My husband and I told my parents and grandmother who is not in good health as soon as we found out but waited until 14 weeks to tell everyone else. Some people were already suspicious way before that because unfortunately, I gained weight so quickly but the actual announcement didn't come until we felt it was right. I…
  • We are planning on having a hospital doula but haven't met her yet. I would love to hear from other moms that have had doulas too.
  • This is my first pregnancy and I haven't delivered yet so I can't speak from actual experience but in the childbirth education class we took at the hospital where we are delivering, they said that they either give a spinal if mom hasn't been given anything or just up the dosage of the meds through the epidural if she…
  • I use Bio-Oil and generic brand Cocoa Butter Lotion. The Bio-Oil is normally $20 per bottle but I buy it at Costco for $20 for a large and a small bottle. At first it seemed to be helping but maybe that is because my belly hadn't grown enough yet because the past two weeks I've noticed considerably more stretch marks than…
  • Thank you all for your responses. I'm trying to slow down my weight gain without harming the baby by eating too few calories. Now I have a better idea of how much I should be eating.
  • Does anyone have any experience with the Baby Bjorn classic? This is my first baby and the baby carrier I'm most familiar with is the Baby Bjorn because my sister in law had one with my niece. She liked it but hers is the only opinion I've heard. Thanks.
  • Congratulations, mellynat and thank you for sharing your story!
  • I'm having on and off pain in my boobs again too. I didn't expect that!
  • Also, I forgot to ask, did they have to use a vaccum or forceps? That is another fear of mine as I've heard that the epidural usually heightens the chance for the docs to have to use these methods. Don't know how true it is ...
  • Thank you for your input. Mrs. Carter. I really appreciate your response and it makes me feel much better knowing that not all instances where an epidural was administered were bad.
  • Thank you. Your response is very reassuring. I'm planning to deliver in a hospital but thankfully each delivery room has a jacuzzi tub, birthing stools and balls, shower and other natural relaxation techniques. I would absolutely LOVE to try to do it naturally but have heard so many horror stories of women that tried to go…
  • Thank you all for your helpful responses. I hadn't even thought of the epidural injection site still hurting afterwards so this information definitely puts things in perspective for me. I also find it interesting that most women who have birthed naturally would do it again despite the pain - something for me to really…
  • Thank you so much. Your post is so reassuring and has made me feel much better as I've gained so much so quickly. Thanks again and best of luck to you and precious baby!
  • Don't feel bad. At my 20 week appointment I was already up 32 lbs (and I was already about 8 lbs overweight when I got pregnant). I'm doing my best to maintain my calories and not gain any more or least to gain as little as possible. Don't know how it's working as I haven't weighed myself but am seeing the doc next week.…
  • We're having a girl so we chose a white crib and dresser. The walls were already a neutral off white/bone color so we left them as they were. Our bedding set is pink and green and has zoo animals and we've registered for the matching wall decals. Think it will look really cute when it's done but can't wait for baby to get…
  • Hi, I think the only way to really know how many calories you're burning is to get a heart rate monitor. I have a Polar FT40 and while it cost about $90 at the time, it's the best money I've ever spent. I completed Insanity last year for my wedding and lost 30 lbs. combined with calorie counting. I'm 5'6 and at the time I…
  • Sounds great. Can't wait to try it! Thanks for sharing.
