  • if you want the cake, eat it! if there's some other calorie bomb that you want, eat it! it's one day -- your day! -- and you'll be back on track the day after.
  • awesome indeed. bright spots: you weren't carrying your daughter when you fell AND she didn't pee on you while you were down. it can only go up!
  • congrats! you were lovely then and are still now :)
  • 50 pounds down on 1200/day. Now on maintenance calories but have also significantly changed my workouts/fitness goals so I have yet to find my "final" weight. I added back slowly -- 100/week. I found that when I went straight to maintenance, I did gain weight -- probably water but it was enough to scare me into going up…
  • good luck! i am training for my first 5K right now (with a running coach but she basically has me doing C25K) and the biggest hurdle was mental/worry -- i know i run slowly. i know i look ridiculous trying to keep from bouncing on the treadmill. i am probably the only person at my gym with a metronome app in my headphones.…
  • does your gym offer personal trainers? it might be a good idea to sign up for just a few hours with one to learn how to use the equipment but also figure out what strength exercises you should be doing to help you reach your goal of completing a half marathon. as one example, i'm training for a 5K (and hope to someday run…
  • chia seeds with low fat coconut milk, pinch of salt, splash of vanilla, a little agave. keep in fridge overnight and top with fresh mango to counteract the ugliness.
  • i, too, love that number. i have about 5 lbs to go for my "perfect" number and HAVE NOT BUDGED for weeks and i got really frustrated. i have eaten a lot of candy in the past week out of frustration. but you know what? i can run for 30 minutes now. i couldn't ever do that before. so now my new goal is to run a 5K. i think…
  • another vote for honey nut cheerios. it tastes like lucky charms when mixed with unsweetened vanilla almond milk!
  • i don't ever track the salt that i add while cooking i eat dinner at 4:30 on wednesdays (only on wednesdays) i build in 200 calories for candy every. single. day.
  • PEANUT BUTTER EVERYTHING
  • [quote="OMG! This is exactly how I feel! You'd think that I'd be all proud for losing this weight, but instead I keep thinking that losing 5 or 10 or 15 more pounds would make me happier, but it doesn't. I'm no happier now then I was when I was 165. So yeah - where does it stop? I feel like I need to jump off the train…
  • it is strange to be so close to goal. this MFP thing really works ;)

  • so awesome! congrats!
  • how your focus eventually shifts from weight loss to fitness. i have always told people that the only use for running would be to get away from a hungry bear. i am now gearing up for my first race in the fall... how weird people think you are when you want them to feel your new muscles.
  • thanks all! i am so excited about it! but it's not like i could run around at work being like "50 down, y'all!!!!!!!!!!" (actually, when people comment on my weight loss, i just say something along the lines of "yeah i've lost a little"). and i was 50.4 down this morning!

  • mine says 140! 13 pounds more than i actually am. i hadn't looked at it in forever. wow.
  • we eat mostly the same things at our house. hubby is using MFP as well so he usually has a slightly larger portion but it's the same thing. kiddo knows that it's important to eat a variety of things including fruits and veggies (and has called us out when we don't have these things on our plates). we almost always have…
  • i give in to the cravings. i try to build in a 300 calorie buffer to those days and know that i'll have some work do do the rest of the month. and i do still try to work out even though my energy level is the pits and my workouts are halfhearted.
  • not sure if this is true, but i have heard that women with a BMI > 25 need to work out 7 hours/week (cardio) to lose weight.
  • my birthday is on saturday but i'm going to be out of the office for the next week, so the girls at work (an awesome group) brought my absolute favorite thing -- coconut cream pie from a local bakery. i mean, it is good. perfect crust. toasted coconut base. vanilla bean flecked light and unctuous custard. it is sex on a…
  • thanks everyone for the support (and laughs -- definitely keeping the illness reason in my back pocket). after stewing for a few hours, i realize that i was so upset because 1) this is HOW I LOOK. the heavy and unhealthy me of the past 5-ish years is not what i think of when i think of myself. this is (almost) the weight…

  • thanks all for the comments so far  right! joey. ha -- maybe i need to rewatch the series. i'm 35, 5', 132 lbs -- still above normal BMI and i've been at this for a year and a half, so concerns re: too fast, too much don't really apply. i'm upset because of the implication that there must be something wrong…

  • and if someone forces it on you, take it, wrap it in a napkin "for later"...and throw it away.
  • love all of these! i am also in the collarbone camp, as well as the bony shoulder camp. and i can cross my legs easily and then intertwine my lower legs as well. congrats to everyone!
  • 1) I no longer dread mealtime. I used to (funny for a fat person to say), but it was because I never had a plan and I always ended up overeating and then feeling bad about myself. I have a collection of go-to recipes on MFP and have stocked my pantry, fridge, and freezer with items that allow me to put yummy (just ask my 4…
  • I needed to read this! I am usually over, too -- but if I look at just processed/added sugars -- I am fine. Yay.
  • I could never give up sweets/junk food. Since this journey is about a lifestyle change, I am just finding ways to work them into my lifestyle. I usually use my exercise calories for my "indulgences", so there's more motivation to exercise!
  • I was always starving on WW (did it 3 times) -- I was successful but it was not sustainable (which is why I had to do it 3 times). The weight came off quickly but i found the points system nebulous and hard to understand. I think MFP's database is better and easier to use. It's something I can see myself sticking with for…
