  • ME, TOO. I should NOT have opened anything with the word "donut" in the title! Thank God my hubby wants to support me more than he wants to exploit this weakness. ;) I've been craving donuts for weeks! A while ago, I had several over a weekend that did nothing to curb the cravings. It's odd because donuts used to make me…
  • I was going to suggest this, too! Or if you don't want to share with a stranger, how about a coworker or other acquaintance? You might just brighten someone's day and isn't that worth giving up half a donut when you get one each day? Then, you get all of the goodness inside and out for only half the calories!
  • Today, I realized just how tough things are about to be for me with the cooler weather! I'm in the South so cool weather staples for my family include chicken & dumplings, chili, potato soup, meat & potatoes, a plethora of casseroles, soup with grilled cheese.... eek! Then, too, I have to work on the excess coffee cravings…
  • Are you sure it's real hunger? It sounds like something more going on if you're waking up all night and eating 1000+ calories on top of your daily intake. If nothing else, sleep deprivation can make you ravenous, at least is does me, and it's my biggest hurdle so that can't be helping your situation either. I'd definitely…
  • I work all kinds of crazy hours, sometimes all night with sleep later in the day, sometimes a normal day with sleep at night, and far too often, day and night with long naps so I log the hours between the longest sleep as my day. I also subscribe to the belief that it doesn't matter when you eat as long as you stay within…
  • I like Truvia to sub part of my coffee sugar, but that's it. Everything else I've tried it in has been ick. I just realized that I was mistaken. We used the Domino light (stevia and sugar blend) and that is worse than Truvia so I should have known better. LOL Our recipe was a little different, too, I think. I tossed it…
  • We tried them with the Truvia baking blend and they were some of the worst things that we have ever baked. I don't know what we did wrong but my hubby wouldn't have them so they were truly BAD. I don't know what we did wrong. :(
  • LOL! It's like watching a tennis match!
  • I'm about 5'3" and am set at 1300 and I eat back part of my exercise calories. I did 1200 +exercise calories for the first few months and averaged 1.5 lbs/week loss. Now it's only a pound loss per week but I need my extra coffee when the weather cools so I'll live with it.
  • I keep odd hours so I log a day as between waking and sleeping. I really can't see that it would make any difference if you're meeting your goals.
  • It's crazy, but the more I exercise, make dietary changes for the better, and lose weight, the MORE problems crop up. Every time I go for a checkup, something different is wrong. I have a feeling blood sugar is the next hurdle even though I've drastically reduced sugar intake (drinks were killing me... coffee, sweet tea,…
  • My husband still does that, too, and I have the original Walk Away the Pounds VHS set so he's had years to outgrow it. LOL I'd love to hear if anyone has a rough idea of calorie burn (can't wait til Christmas for my Polar FT4!) It worked up a sweat but didn't seem as intense as I'd hoped.
  • I was shocked recently to need a size 10 when I finally had to break down and buy a pair of shorts to get through the end of summer. (I flashed my undies one too many times carrying groceries to the car when my shorts slipped. LOL) I know that I'm nowhere near a size 10 at this point. A few days after that, we were going…
  • I don't have an eating disorder. I'm not afraid of any food. I haven't been traumatized by events that led me to abhor the long list of things I have noted. I try new and unusual things. There is no magic number of times to try something to make my taste buds change their tune. If that was the case, my hubby's little…
  • Being a supertaster isn't something you just "grow up" and "get over". It's not just about being "picky". I'm "picky" when it comes to things I perceive as gross like bologna or hot dogs because of what they are. I'm not picky because I'm incapable of eating foods that taste very, very, very bad to me. I've been living it…
  • The beginnings of an egg allergy? Mine started that way and has gotten worse over the years and now it's really bad. I can manage a little egg in chicken salad, dressing, or in baked goods without too noticeable an effect, but no hard-boiled eggs, egg salad, scrambled eggs, or any egg as the main component, even with bread…
  • I have to say, the one area that will continue to splurge is my Caramel Macchiato. I haven't been in months and couldn't help myself when in the area so I decided to try the skinny, nonfat, yada yada yada and all I can say is YUCK. I'll stick with my regular and a bit of sugar, thank you very much. LOL Luckily, we don't…
  • For some reason, eating breakfast makes me feel like I NEED to eat 10 cows a few hours later. I'm perfectly fine with my cup of coffee (with cream and sugar) until I'm ready for a snack/late lunch. I work at home so my schedule is often upside down and having a big supper is probably the equivalent of most people's big…
  • My favorites this week: Jillian Michaels Shred It with Weights (Kettlebell workout) Biggest Loser Power Walk (I do this one every other day) Others that I use: Most any walk workouts by Leslie Sansone (I do these on days that I also do JM since I can't do high impact and feel like I need extra workout time to make up for…
  • I keep track of everything that goes in and use the recipe creator to get the total calories. Then, after cooking, I weigh the final product and divide it by the ounce. For instance, when I'm making pepper steak and gravy, I'll put in the steak, peppers, mushrooms, onions, gravy as raw/unprepared. Once completed, it weighs…
  • I forgot to mention... I also had gallstones. I'm not sure if the gallstones caused a rapid weight loss or rapid weight loss caused the gallstones. I dropped 30 lbs of mostly leftover baby weight (from 155 to 125) in about a month. At the time, I shared everything that I ate with my daughter and exercised daily, but I…
  • I agree with "never lose hope" but urge anyone who would like to have children to be proactive and do everything possible to help preserve fertility. I was also told I would never have more children after my first, but a few years later, after a few months on the pill to regulate things, I was lucky to become pregnant…
  • I've been working on weighing all of my regular recipes so that I can determine the calories based on whatever serving size that I choose. There can be minor variations from batch to batch due to evaporation and such, but it's the most accurate way that I can think of. Plus, it's much easier to weigh than fool with…
  • I've wondered this, too! I just spent 2 weeks unable to even look down to use my laptop from the closed up feeling in my throat. It makes me crazy! When it gets bad, I feel like I have a band around it and have difficulty even swallowing the tiny Levo pills. Back to the OP, tracking everything with MFP really helps me. I…
  • Fried foods make me queasy sometimes, as well. I think part of it was a horrific bout with gallstones a lot of years ago. I couldn't eat anything greasy for months without risking the worst pain I've ever felt and terrible nausea. Fries at home are baked, but I have to admit to an occasional extreme craving for McDonald's…
  • I typically don't care for fried foods except chicken strips and an occasional french fry craving, but fried twinkies weren't too bad. Fried oreos were better. LOL My hubby went through a fry-everything kick and did both of those along with candy bars. I'm glad I tried them but they're definitely not something I plan to…
  • My husband wouldn't even touch the Sara Lee version after the first one. They are not the same! Personally, I didn't think Sara Lee was BAD, just not the original Twinkie. I'm going to buy one box so that I can have one. Everyone else will eat them up so fast that I won't have to worry about the temptation of a second one.…
  • I have trouble with anything green (supertaster :s) but I had some store-bought cheesy kale chips that were awesome! It's not real cheese, they're vegan and also have cashews in the paste. I found a recipe on Pinterest and my nutritional yeast arrived today so I'm going to give it a try this weekend! Now in any other form,…
  • You don't want to lose that much weight that fast. Besides all of the great info above, other side effects can happen, too. I lost 30 lbs in less than a month (not intentionally, lots of exercise from boredom combined with sharing meals with my then-toddler daughter). Well, 2 months later, I was in the ER with excruciating…
  • A gentle cleansing exfoliant always helps when I get irritated. It works to remove anything that might be clogging the follicles like sweat, dirt, and dead skin cells.
