I joined a DietBet (for which I need to lose 4.9 pounds) and I actually gained 0.2 lbs so far because I continued to go out to eat/eat poorly/not exercise. I now have 22 days to lose the weight and I'm freaking out!

Hi! Height: 5'2" CW: 116.8 GW: 105 I gained a little over 10 lbs within the past six months, so I'm currently just trying to lose those 10 lbs! 105 may sound low, but for my tiny frame, it was perfect for me. I definitely am carrying extra pounds I don't need right now.

Thank you so much for the helpful replies, everyone! MFP community is the best. I'm going to log everything for a few weeks and see if I'm actually consuming way more than I should be (even with the higher activity level). I'll look into timing my long runs with a meal afterward because I do think I overdo it at times.…

I'm doing my first supersprint tri in Chicago this August! (I decided on supersprint because my swimming skills are so nonexistent that the sprint distance isn't realistic for me this year.) Please add me! I just joined a gym and I've been following a triathlon training plan.

I'm really thankful this thread exists! I ambled over to this forum with the very question of feeling completely terrified and uncomfortable in the weights section. I'm following a training plan to complete a triathlon and yesterday required I use some weights and resistance equipment. I walked through all the weights and…

I lost 10 pounds on a 1200 calorie diet with no exercise. From there, I increased to ~1400 with exercise and I lost a lot more weight. 1200 is probably too low! (My starting was 142 and my current is 108.)

I eat nuts and an apple with peanut butter during my weekly overnight shift. My biggest problem is with my ravenous appetite after I wake up from my post-overnight nap!

You work in sales of some kind maybe? Used car salesman? :P

I definitely want to do it! I just don't have very much money to dedicate to swim lessons, personal trainers, etc. A gym membership will basically blow my budget, so I hope learning freestyle isn't too much of a struggle mostly on my own (with YouTube videos for help).

I just want to finish. And to hopefully not come in last place.

Thank you so much for all the incredible suggestions! It seems like you all think a sprint is doable for me (as opposed to the easier super sprint) and that I should have swim lessons. I completely agree! You guys are awesome. Believe or not, I joined a beginner triathlon website, asked similar questions, and I received…

This was incredibly helpful. Thanks so much for taking the time to give me some excellent pointers!

Thanks so much! I edited my original response, but I was thinking of doing the super sprint or sprint distance, if that's a realistic goal. I feel optimistic about the super sprint by working at my current fitness level. Perhaps I could make a sprint my goal for 2015. :-) I will look into finding tri training clubs around…

I'm in, if you can fit me! :)

Nope! I actually haven't been logging for a few weeks because I have had that many holiday parties, receptions, birthday, etc this month. 0_0

Great advice from everyone! I also feel like I've fallen off the wagon because I haven't exercised in two months. There's nothing to do but to just start moving again!

I'm 5'2" with a pear-shaped body and a small frame, for reference. I have been stuck at ~110 pounds for three months and I, too, have felt like I've reached a plateau. It's like my body doesn't like going lower than this. I definitely keep in the back of my mind my lowest weight (yes, when I was 13...I know--unrealistic)…
-
OP, I definitely understand your frustration. It can be hard to deal with temptations around the holidays and it seems like your husband may not understand why it is so difficult. I'm sure he loves you a great deal and is trying to be romantic, which is so wonderful! Have you mentioned to him that there are certain goals…

Gosh, I don't pay anywhere near enough attention to the number of calories I've burned. However, I have noticed that on days I do cardio only, my appetite is more suppressed (than on days I don't work out when I eat more). I have also noticed that my appetite spikes in general when I have been lifting weights, regardless…

I had a piece of whole wheat toast with butter. Yum!

I'm at 24 inches and I don't want to go lower. I have a pear shape, so I have lost plenty of upper body weight, but barely any lower body weight!

I have never been attracted to super lean, fit guys and definitely not skinny guys with no muscle. The physical type I usually go for actually looks nothing like my boyfriend. I used to always go for tall-ish guys of medium build with muscle (but not excessive--some softness in them), dirty blonde hair, possibly glasses.…

Hi, all! I'm not necessarily on track, but I'm at 7 miles. Sorry for not checking in sooner!
-
I'm 23, 5'2" and I have about five pounds left to go! These have been the absolute toughest pounds for me. I'm also looking to change the composition of my body via muscle, so I have plentyyyy of work to do beyond what the scale reads. Add me! :-)

I'm in! 20 miles is my goal.

The foods I've discovered are similar to what you've all been saying: Plain Greek yogurt, chia seeds, kale, spinach, avocado, mushrooms, green smoothies, almond milk, wild Alaskan salmon, spaghetti squash, zucchini, and hummus. :-)

Ooo, great thread! I just took a shower, did my hair, and did my makeup. (Guess what I should have done? Worked out BEFORE doing all of that!)

Now I'm intrigued!

I'm a counselor at a residential school for emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. Edited to add: I work Sunday overnights, 9 PM-10 AM

Thanks for all the great advice, all! I don't generally consume caffeine (except for green tea and chocolate), or at least not the "hard stuff" like five-hour energy or Monster. I'm going to try to do this without the caffeine support, so I hope I figure something out. I slept in until 12 PM today to prepare, but I think…
