  • I am two years out from my VSG. About a year out I noticed more hunger and less satiety. Of course at that time, I was starting to be more lax with my food, was eating more carbs, etc... and although I've been maintaining for the last year, I began to notice that I was always feeling hungry and was eating way more calories…
  • Good luck @SaraJanePOWER! I will be two years out this month as well and although I have been maintaining for the last year, I would like to try hard to reach my ultimate goal of 150 lbs.
  • That is awesome! Very inspiring!!!

  • My WLS program and surgeon also did not give me a "goal" weight. My goal was to ultimately get healthy! However in my mind, I thought if I could get to 150 lbs, I'd be happy. I started at 311 lbs and once I reached 165 lbs (about 10 months post-op), the weight loss slowed / stopped. Could have been for a multitude of…

  • You will do FABULOUS! I'm one month shy of two years post-op and this has been the greatest decision I've ever made for myself! I have no doubt that you will have just as much success! Please keep us posted on how you're doing! We'll be thinking of you tomorrow!!! SW: 311 lbs CW: 164.8 lbs
  • Jreedyjanelle - Congrats on your success thus far! Regain is a huge fear of mine as well (as I'm sure it is for most of us). After surgery I did not work out regularly, no routine, etc... I am trying to get back into the habit though as I know it's necessary for maintenance. Sadly, I also stopped tracking food about 8-9…
  • Congrats on your journey so far! One month out was also the turning point for me. And trust me... things just get better and better from there. (Or at least they did for me). I am now a year and a half post op and life is great! The sleeve was a life saver/changer for me and I'm grateful for it every day! Wishing you much…
  • I do eat carbs. I try to stick to around 40 grams per day, but I have days where I consume up to 50-60 grams. Not so frequently though. I also feel light headed and sick when I don't eat them, and I've always been in the mindset that you need carbs. I still want my diet to be balanced. Plus protein all the time gets…
  • When I was two weeks out from surgery (and still on liquids) I was drinking 2 Premier Protein shakes per day. You can buy them at Sam's Club, Costco, or some other grocery stores now. They don't taste bad and it helped me meet my daily 60 gram goal. Now that I'm almost four months out, I only drink one a day and get the…

  • Hi there! My name's Kari and I'm also in the process of getting sleeved. My insurance covers it 100%, no jumping through hoops or 6 month monitored diets. Just had to do the required steps through my bariatric program. I have two more appointments (exercise consult & a cardiac clearance) and then I can schedule surgery.…
  • Up until January I loathed exercise! I had a gym membership that I had been paying for for over a year and never used. Finally my sister-in-law asked me if she could use the guest pass on my membership and I said yes. That meant that I HAD to go with her. So I didn't want to let her down by cancelling all the time, so I…
  • I weigh first thing in the morning, after I've gone potty, and always nude. I find even my light pajamas make a difference on the scale.
  • Thanks so much again for the responses. They have been so helpful! I am checking out all of the HRMs that everyone has mentioned. I'm definitely looking forward to getting one soon! And I'm definitely not going to be eating back any calories I burn (or at least I hope not) lol. That could definitely be bad. :)
  • Thank you all again! This all VERY helpful information. I am checking out the link provided for the HRM, I know that is going to be my best best in the long run. :)
  • Wow - thanks for all the replies! The elliptical machine only asks for my weight, nothing else. I've actually been looking into buying a HRM, however I'm a little lost as to which ones would be best for me. They seem to have mixed reviews. Any suggestions?
  • How wonderful! You look great! :)
  • I've lost just over 3 sacks of potatoes! (You know... the 10 lb sacks) ;)
  • Would love to join as well! My highest weight was 330 lbs - however the past four years or so I've lingered around the 290 mark. Recently I've gotten up to 300 lbs again. I need to get a move on and do something about this! Looking forward to getting to know many of you! Feel free to add me! :)
  • I've also been terrible about getting myself motivated to eat right. I dont' mind working out / exercising, but it's not doing any good if I'm not willing to change my eating habits. I'm hoping that posting my food here every day will hold me accountable for what I'm putting in my body! If you ever need support feel free…
  • Met my now husband when we were 16 years old - working as baggers / cart pushers at a GROCERY STORE lol. (Guess it really is the perfect place to pickup) lol. We've been together 12 years and married almost four!
  • I'm new here too! I've been on many diets in the past, but I've always had the same problem, never seeing it through. I think it's because I feel like I'm doing this 'alone' and don't really have the support I'm looking for. A friend referred me to this site and I think I've finally found a place where I can give as well…
