  • Do you have Netflix? If so - I would highly suggest watching "The Magic Pill". It's very informative when it comes to Keto and the benefits. And although I do not do Keto at the moment, I think it's a good plan so long as you stick to it. :)

  • It is slower the second time around, but having the surgery makes things easier for sure. I am 4.5 years post-op with a regain of 16 lbs. After a week I lost 6 lbs, leaving me 10 lbs. to go. You just have to recommit to your plan and tracking here on MFP has made it easier.
  • Now THAT sounds yummy! I'm going to give this a try with turkey pepperoni!!
  • I had VSG 5/28/13 - add me if you'd like
  • I got pregnancy 2.5 years post-op VSG. I started at 165 lbs and gained 40 lbs (so I was 205 lbs at delivery). I had a very healthy pregnancy and I felt great. I was on a prenatal vitamin the entire time that was prescribed by my doctor. My stomach and everything was fine with the baby (and he was a BIG baby). I was able to…
  • This happened to me and it was an awful, awful experience. I didn't go for a week and was experiencing the same issues as you. Mine however got to a very, very painful point that I couldn't take it any more. I ended up in the ER, where it was found I was impacted. Ugh! It was all a very embarrassing experience, but was so…
  • Never a regret - 4 years post-op VSG and still happy. It does get harder the further out to are, but that's why you must work hard early on to change your habits before they catch up with you again.
  • Hi Dawn! We were sleeved not too far apart (5/28/13 here). It is definitely more challenging the further out you are. I have been able to maintain the last nearly 4 years, but I find that it's so easy to eat anything, and very difficult to stay under 1,500 calories a day! I also find my body is changing. I had a baby 11…
  • Hello Thaeda and welcome back!! :) How is the Qysmia working for you???
  • Hi there! Would love some MFP FitBit friends! https://www.fitbit.com/user/5K4TC7
  • I had moderate reflux prior to my Sleeve surgery. After surgery I have had not one single day of reflux. For me... it has essentially cured it. I am nearing 4 years post-op.
  • Hi there, and welcome! Way to go on reaching your goals! I was also told RNY would be my best bet, however I'm almost 4 years out from the Sleeve and very happy! I've been maintaining a 150 lb weight loss This is your journey, so do what's right for you! Feel free to add me if you'd like. :)

  • This is a great thread! I will admit... I have shunned Aldi's for the last 4 years or so. But this is encouraging me to go and give them another try! Thanks for sharing!!
  • That's so awesome! Dr. Carlin is amazing!!
  • I am in Detroit, Michigan and I had my VSG surgery on 05/28/13 with Dr. Carlin at Henry Ford Detroit. HW: 330 SW: 311 CW: 160
  • Congrats on your three years! It's quite an accomplishment to come that far! I am 3.5 years out now and still so grateful for this surgery! It has given me my life back, and a new life at that; (I was finally blessed with a wonderful son after 9+ years of infertility). 3.5 years post-op and one baby later, I'm still…
  • Thank you anbrdr !! :)
  • That is so awesome! We have a Sam's Club membership and I still have my old picture. Every time my husband and I go together, he holds up my card and just shakes his head, asking when I'll get a new card lol.

  • I am 2 years and 3 months post-op. I still have a hard time digesting milk. If I drink more than 1/2 a cup, I feel sick and nauseated. Same thing goes for ice cream. I now drink Fair Life milk as its the only one I can digest with no issues. Plus it has a TON of protein in 1 cup. Bread of any kind is a no-no and sits like…
  • You look incredible! Way to go!!!
  • Well said, Thaeda! Having spent just about my entire life on a diet of some sorts, I know this game all too well. However, since having the VSG, my way of thinking has started to change. Having one's stomach 80% removed definitely makes you think about your choices. I know that I did not undergo a major surgery only to go…
  • Absolutely phenomenal! You have done great! Hard work and dedication pays off!
  • Well... once you wake up you will definitely be groggy... maybe in a little pain or discomfort. This will subside. As you become more alert, you may want to lay in bed and not move, but DO NOT do that. If your nurses are not insisting on you moving, ASK them if you can get up. The sooner you are up moving around, the…
  • I have been in MAINTENANCE for 16 months now (26 months post-op) and although I fear regain, I also follow thinnerrugger's rule. I allow myself a 5 lb window. If I gain upwards of 5 lbs, I go back to protein shakes once a day and closely monitor my food intake. It sometimes takes about a week for me to lose it, but it has…
  • I there! I sent a request. I'm 2 years post-op (sleeved 5/28/13). Starting weight was 311 lbs and I now fluctuate between 162 & 166 lbs and I'm 5'3" tall. Happy as can be!
  • Well - I'm 2 years out and although the NSV's are not as frequent, I still encounter them! My most recent? Fitting into the summer clothes I had last year! Usually every year I had to buy new clothes because (a) I either wore them out, or (b) I gained more weight. I was nervous this summer that perhaps I had "filled out"…

  • Hi Tina! I also sent you a request. I have VSG 2 years ago. No regrets. :)
  • Hi Judith! Congrats on your journey and success thus far! I can definitely relate to your struggle with mourning the loss of your best friend: food. I was overly-addicted to food prior to surgery. My thoughts most days consumed around what I was having for each meal of the day. Prior to surgery I had to start facing the…
  • Congrats on the beginning of your journey! The first week is a little rough, but I promise, it does get better each day. Just don't over-do it. Water is the most important thing right now, so just keep trying to get your fluids in. You'll do great!!
