I'll be the contrarian here. 🙃. I use mct oil in my coffee when I'm fasting and it helps prevent hunger. I initially did have gi upset from it, but I decreased amounts and adapted. I also tried mct powder but stopped when I realized one scoop had 4! Carbs! Obviously you don't need mct oil and it doesn't add anything but an…

I think it depends on your goal of fasting. I watched that video too, and was encouraged. I believe 2 fit docs are mostly interested in weight loss. If you're more interested in the benefits of autophagy, I think we need more research. Some (can't remember who, sorry) have said you don't get autophagy until 36 hours of…

i like this definition myself.

how long are you going to be that low protein?
-
that's incredible progress! have you still been doing well? I just started this week with intermittent fasting at 18:6 and lost 1 pound but considering adf.

hi! I've been on mfp since 2014 and lost a lot of weight on keto but didnt keep with the diet and gained some back. I watched "the science of fasting" on YouTube. I've also watched Jason Fung and heard that alternate day fasting is good for weight loss.

ooh I'm going to try this tonight

Getting back on track! Needs encouragement!

Dollar tree sells sf syrups. Hazelnut is really good. I make my coffee with that, heavy cream and coconut oil then whir in the blender. Yummy.

"I think you might be joking? Sounds interesting. Raw vegan so no thanks though." Not joking. It's really good. I'd suggest it for you if you weren't a raw vegan who obviously doesn't eat eggs (animal product) or coffee (roasted, not raw).

I'm doing LCHF/keto with about 20 net carbs daily. I feel great, better than I have in years. I was looking for old pictures today to see how things compare and I realized that I have not been this thin since 1997, when I graduated from college. Last year I did the CICO, low fat, lots of aerobic exercise and lost 20 pounds…

This post made me hungry. I think I'll get the royal burger lettuce wrapped with bottomless broccoli and butter for lunch.. Yumm! Fits my macros perfectly!

You can't change her, you can't change him. The only thing you have control over is your response. Don't start a fight with her, you'll never win.

Yes, ask for the particle test . Plus, your cholesterol will change when you're at your maintenance weight.

Ha ha ha, yes. If you look at historical type I diabetics, prior to the advent of insulin, they did die and they were young and very thin when they died.

What's so horrible about chia seeds?

Real books are rare any more in my neck of the woods. I find old Atkins and low carb books at the goodwill all the time. Cheap too!

Oh, sorry. Started 2/12/14. Husband same time period.
-
I've lost 25 pounds and have 30 to go. According to my aria scale, I've gone down almost 5% body fat. My husband however, has lost 45 pounds with 45 to go and has gone down 10% as estimated by the same scale. I've heard men always lose fat faster than women, FWIW.

Feel free to add me!

Look up Forrest Yoga on YouTube. If that's not strength training, nothing is.

Can't remember the science behind it, but mct oil increases your ketone readings. So does coconut oil and to a lesser extent butter as both have mct in them.
-
Just like any diet, how much you initially lose depends on start weight. Most of it is water anyway. Get your salt and potassium to avoid the Atkins flu and drink lots of water. I wish I had done measurements when I started: even when the scale doesn't move, the inches seem to come off. Good luck!

Krista: I'd like to lose another 35 pounds. Another thing that may affect the speed is age : I'm 44. My friend who started the same time as me is 62 and she's lost about 20 pounds. Good luck!

I have PCOS too. I've been doing this for about 12 weeks, with a few cheat days here and there. I've lost 24 pounds, but it's been up and down the whole time. I actually lost weight after a cheat meal, then gained two weeks later when I stuck to the diet, but overate my calories with protein. I agree with getting your RMR…

I still crave sugar sometimes, and I've been doing this 12 weeks. It's not bad though, and I don't give in. My willpower is much better on this diet than any other I've done. I do use artificial sweeteners or stevia daily in my coffee and I've been told that if I didn't, I wouldn't crave sweets.
