  • I have the fitbit ultra and my husband has the newer fitbit one. We love them. They're totally easy to set up in minutes, they sync automatically when you're within range of your computer and the newer ones will sync with certain smart phones. They have definitely encouraged us to get moving more which is what we were…
  • Adding the two dry cake mixes together, you've got a total of 3,280 calories. Once you mix them together, weigh out the 3 tablespoons of cake mixes and then you should be able to divide that into the total weight of the bag of mix to see how many servings there are.
  • Thanks for the replies. I guess I"m so used to using the protein powder in baking protein bars, it really never occurred to me to just drink it in water. And since I'm not a big peanut butter fan, I figured that much protein powder mixed in with such a small amount of peanut butter might make it taste REALLY nasty. ;-)
  • You can use straps while you build up your hand muscles. They're about 8-10 bucks at any sporting goods store. ;-)
  • What a great variety of dishes to try. thanks for sharing!
  • When members enter nutritional information, if they do not include a particular value, it will show as zero. It's not an "error" per se, but an omission when the data is entered.
  • I'm definitely going to try the zip lok bag method. I'd read about it before and thought it would be a great mess free to make omelets for a crowd, especially kids, without making a mess.
  • Well, my response would have to do with whether or not I actually *wanted* to eat what was offered. What I've tried to do in my diet in the last year or so is to decide to eat things that I really want when I want to, and avoid eating those things that are just "around". I wouldn't bother with a store bought cookie if you…
  • Perhaps the site policy regarding these types of posts is a factor?
  • I wouldn't count it as exercise, personally. You're going to be strolling along, stopping to look at things, sitting down on rides, noshing on snacks, etc. Unless you lounge on a rock all day normally, it's not going to be that much of a 'work out". Just my 2 cents.
  • MFP has ALREADY given you a calorie deficit for weight loss when you signed up and entered your information and your weight loss goals. It has ALREADY taken calories away so that you can lose weight.............even if your lifestyle is completely sedentary. So...............enjoy your exercise calories............as long…
  • But MFP has ALREADY calculated in a caloric deficit when you plugged in your original numbers and desire weight loss goals. Ergo, the exercise calories that you use CAN be eaten back as long as you calculate them accurately. That's the whole point of this site.
  • Often times, if you start with the brand name, you'll get to your listing more quickly. For instance, try "gold medal flour" instead of just "flour" For vegetables and fruits, try "peach, raw" instead of just peach. I don't add spices to my diary either because they aren't really adding any significant calories or…
  • Peaches are a tough buy because they are a very delicate fruit and are often shipped long distances. Because they're so prone to bruising, they're picked green and then shipped.........sometimes they NEVER ripen and just rot. The very best peaches are the very fuzzy ones, usually from down south, and like the other poster…
  • Fortunately I know that you are not referring to me.

  • I agree, which is why I think that the original poster's suggestion about copying and pasting is such a FINE one. ;-)

  • Um......doesn't EVERYBODY think that *their* posts are the most important and belong at the top? Just sayin' LOL I understand that bumping brings the post to the top of the page, but it *can be* discouraging to see that a 4-5 page recipe post is just 90% bumps. JMHO

  • I think the amount is reasonable if both parties are satisfied. You are making $15.00 an hour (I assume under the table), and if you took a regular job that paid $25.00 an hour, you'd still only end up with $15. I've done a lot of volunteer tutoring through my adult education program locally, and know that most of my…
  • Great tip....so many times I click on a recipe thread hoping to see dozens of mouth watering recipes, only to find one recipe and 57 bumps. ;-)

  • Jamie Eason has an amazing figure, but she is set to release her very OWN 12 week trainer on August 16th, according to her Facebook postings. " Fitness Model/Writer Jamie Eason Guess what? Guess what? I was given an official release date for the 12-week trainer. It's going to be August 16th! That's a Tuesday. I am soooo…
  • I also think it's possible not to know about someone's overall physical just state just by looking at them. She may have been there for all the reasons you are there.............or she may just be starting out and has exercise restrictions because of a heart condition. Since you can't tell by looking...........I wouldn't…
  • I tried the juicing thing for a while, but was dismayed at all the waste from the pulp. I would juice up what seemed like 4 pounds of vegetables for 2 glasses of juice and then dump 3 1/2 pounds of pulp in the trash. Plus...............I like to CRUNCH things. ;-)
  • And what if your boyfriend is WRONG? Go for it....you've set a goal, now work towards it.....slowly you will gain speed and confidence.
  • Sounds like a recipe I need to try...thanks for sharing.
  • Do a search and you will quickly see that this topic is debated ENDLESSLY over and over on the site. My biggest takeaway from the discussions is still that we all want to move ahead in our lives eating like regular human beings, not like birds. I don't WANT to only be able to eat 800 calories a day and maintain my weight.…
  • Umm............did you mean the SHOES, or the deep fried dough product typically found in the U.S. south? ROFL
  • If both feet are leaving the floor at the same time (such as with jumping jacks), then that is high impact aerobics. Low impact aerobics were started with the moves being modified so that one foot stays on the floor at all times. (Like step/touch/step/tough or grapevine moves). If you're trying to log a workout a heart…
  • That was some seriously smelly stuff! LOL There is a facebook page for Michigan's First Warrior Dash and someone posted a Groupon link for 1/2 off registration for the upcoming Dirty Dog Dash that's being held in Hell, Michigan on September 17th......I'm looking at it. The Groupon Link is at:…
  • I was at the Michigan Warrior Dash yesterday and it was SO much fun! Congratulations on finishing and hope you had a blast. My biggest NSV of the race was realizing that my 54 year old self beat the 40 year old aerobics instructor at my gym by 2 full minutes when I checked the online…
  • Here's a great guideline since we don't know what size that plate is that your fish is on. 3 servings/ounce equivalents of fish = 1 checkbook 3 servings/ounce equivalents of meat or poultry = 1 deck of cards 2 servings/ounce equivalents of peanut butter = 1 roll of 35 mm film or 1 ping-pong ball
